Usually has to do with minerals. Not enough and/or poor absorption.

Do you have any other problems?

The anemia. I didn't use to have a problem with my nails. Just

the last couple of months they've gotten really bad. All I'm

taking is a multivitamin, calcium, b complex and my iron

supplement. Oh, and the pill but that was only 2 months ago and

this started before that.

What changed before this happened? Illness? Mediication? Has anemia been a

problem before? Lots of anemia has to do with poor absorption. Does your

calcium have Mag & D? You probabaly also need trace minerals. Lack of VIt C

and copper could be part of the problem with anemia.

Hi

Dont know if this will help but I take bovine gelatine powder--1 TB with my

water in the morning and I could drive fence posts in with my nails!! Also

find that they split at the side into the quick if I drink coffee [just

another reason to avoid it, I guess!]must be the dehydrating effect. Have a

lot of joint problems and this seems to help that also. You should find a

source on the internet--I get mine posted to me.

No, no changes before this. Except starting to eat the blood

type diet. And no problem with anemia before this.

Hmmmmm

How long have you been on the diet? Body might be doing some adjusting.

Something in the change is out of wack.

Other info may be needed - or allow a little more time.

I don't have anything to say about the nails, but the anemia I know a

little about. What I have to say is sacrilege on this board though.

Way back in the dark ages when I was a teenager, I discovered that

beef was a factor in my anemia. I still don't eat it, even though

I'm commited to the rest of my type O diet. (I also HATE the way

cows/cattle industry are trashing the Klamath Basin just below my

mountain home and yes, they are grass fed.) So anyway, I think we all

agree that nothing is one-size-fits-all, even BTD. You may want to

substitute some salmon or cod for some of the beef you have been

eating and see if the anemia lessens.

Hello Renny - I hope you have got settled into your new home and that you will at last find happiness there.

I have to say that also had the problem of splitting nails - as do many sufferers of hypothyroidism. I got over this by using Super Silica 2500 mgs - taking one tablet a day. Expensive to start with, but they last a long time. I am pleased to report that I have nails so strong I could prize the top of a bottle of beer - they are now VERY strong.

Luv - Sheila

Hi Bee! I've been on your diet religiously since June 2010 (food and

supplements), and have had near miraculous results since then (I still have a

few hurdles to cross, but once I do I will post a " success story " ). Anyway,

something odd happened recently--I clipped my fingernails and nearly all of them

were brittle, cracking like potato chips! I was stunned by this, because that

was how my nails used to be, pre-diet; but with the diet, over time my nails

became soft and healthy. But now this! Do you have any thoughts/suggestions?

Thanks and peace to you,

+++Hi ,

Your fingernails will detoxify many things through them, and toxins do cause

brittle nails. However you've had it before your body will be retracing it too

as it is healing itself - see this article:

http://www.healingnaturallybybee.com/articles/heal10.php

Men who paint houses for a living detoxify paint colors, solvents, etc. through

their hands and nails. I used to do oil paintings and many colors showed up

under my nails which were unmistakably oil paints, i.e. burnt sienna, raw umber

and black. lol!

All the best, Bee
