Guest guest
Hello Di, I have 2 reasons why you may be gaining weight. Is it almost that time of the month? That could cause you to put on a couple of lbs. Another thought is that you're probably adding some muscle mass, you also can gain a couple of lbs. from that. I wouldn't worry about it. Just keep on breathing and drinking lots of water and you'll being seeing results before you know it. Your day is coming, just be consistent. :-) Love, Liz ________________________________________________________________ YOU'RE PAYING TOO MUCH FOR THE INTERNET! Juno now offers FREE Internet Access! Guest guest
We've been told that it can take up to 6 months of infusions before a change can be seen. Was she pre-medicated for the infusion? It might be that the pre-meds calmed down her system enough to lower her temp. Guest guest
No, she wasn't pre-medicated. Our doctor told us we would know in 30 days if it worked. Guest guest
those doctors were hem/onc right? I wish you luck on the 30 day remedy but wouldn't count on it. Also if she's sick I'd call the nurse and ask for advice. My surgery was two weeks ago and the presure of the packing is quite bothersome. thanks, Hi Cherie Two to three weeks would seem about right. Gel packing as far as I can recall is meant to self-dissolve. Some of it will work its way out of the ear of naturally and some of it will probably by cleaned out by the surgeon on your next post-op visit. Phil -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Guest guest
Mine has always been taken out at 3 weeks postop. Some comes out on it's own, but some has to be cleaned out. It is bothersome, at least the gel is a big advancement from the old packing that seemed like hard gauze and itched like CRAZY! --- sharralin <cheralin@...> wrote: > Could you please tell me how long the gel packing > needs to stay in > after surgery? Guest guest
, This Disease can pop up anytime and Symptoms can be small or large. Just keep a eye on it. Since your child is already taking a Steroid. This may suppress the Symptoms as well. RobbinSee what's free at AOL.com.
Guest guest
, That's a good question. I don't know the answer but I've heard it can be weeks, to months to years. Since your little guy has been diagnosed and is being treated, he may be able to put it off for quite a while. All kids are different, I just hope he never develops the joint issues. Hoping he is doing well right now. ((hugs)) Tracey and Madi 2yr systemic > > Does anyone know how long a child can have systemic JRA without joint > pain? Guest guest
, I am way behind in catching up on posts - and I didn't look to see if you'd had many responses to your question - so forgive me if I am repeating what you have already been told. I am so far behind in posts, that I am not trying to respond to too many, but since my son was diagnosed with systemic onset when he was almost 5, I thought I'd respond to your question.  According to the textbooks/literature, children with systemic onset JRA can have systemic symptoms for up to a year before the joint pain/arthritis symptoms present themselves. This in itself contributes to the difficulty with dianosis, as so many of the systemic symptoms are similar to other diseases or illnesses. had joint pain 24 hours before his first documented systemic symptoms, which is unusual - though looking back on the year previous he had other episodes that were diagnosed and treated as something else - which could have been early systemic symptoms, particularly a kidney disorder, as well as unexplained rashes and fevers, that were determined to be viral. The treatment for the kidney disorder is steriods sometimes cylcosporine ( is currently on both for his JRA) , which would have controlled the flare of more severe systemic symptoms at the time. When first experienced joint pain, the subsequent systemic symptoms where his worse ever. I wish you all the best, Val Rob's Mom (9,systemic) HOW LONG? Does anyone know how long a child can have systemic JRA without joint pain? Guest guest
Val, Thank you for responding to my question. I feel a sense of guilt because my son has not had any joint problems and listening to everyones struggles it seems that everyone has had some sort of joint pain. Don't get me wrong my little Bubba has endured more than his fair share of pain and then some. I just feel that I can't relate with a lot of the parents here. His rheumy/immunologist is sending us to Cincinnatti to get a second opinion. Thinking this may be something called HLH. He has been sick off and on for almost a year now and I am scared that his little body may not be able to handle much more. Thanks and God Bless, Rae HOW LONG?Does anyone know how long a child can have systemic JRA without joint pain? He has had about 4 flares since August06 and is currently on Prednisolone. Guest guest
- Please don't ever apologize for putting your son's struggles out there. We are all in the this battle together - whether they are going though a lot of flare's or just one. Hang in there - I hope he feels some relief soon. Guest guest
Tildy, Now I was younger as I'm 44 and had my TKR when I was 43 but I'm overweight so that slowed some recovery. It certainly got better each day. At one month, I felt like I could move ok on my own without much help for anything except driving. I had my right knee done so I couldn't drive until 7 weeks out and it hurt some for the first week or so. At two months out I got on a plane, walked through two big airports and a large hotel for a seminar I had to attend for work so I was in pretty good shape though I would put my compression hose (knee-high version) on in the evenings to deal with swelling. I know I was still icing my knee from time to time many months out so continue to do that for him. I think about 5 months out I really started being happy about all this but I felt fine about it earlier than that. -----Original Message-----From: Joint Replacement [mailto:Joint Replacement ]On Behalf Of carafe4039Sent: Monday, December 03, 2007 6:52 PMJoint Replacement Subject: how long? My husband, 65, had a total knee replacement three weeks ago. He also had a stroke last March, so his recovery may be slower, but I wondered about your experience. How long before you who have had TKRs were able to say "wow, I'm glad I did that!" It's way harder than his hip (17 years ago) and we knew that going in, but it's way harder than we even imagined. Very tired, seems to him like forever before he'll feel like himself. He had trouble being able to take pain meds, and is now on darvocet and ultram. Not as effective as some, but doing OK for him. Guest guest
Loviator, we've been at it since April / May of 2007. They have really died out since I started using the epsom salt sprays everywhere. It's " almost " under control. A few more weeks of cleaning, spraying and having the cats treated and I think we'll have it whipped... or at least I'm praying that's what will happen! Good luck to you and yours. > > I'm wondering how common it is for these things to just die out. This > forum has 65 members and it seems a lot of them haven't been in the > forum for a while. Guest guest
I find it takes about 2-3 hours for the Pred to kick in for my son. I usually give Motrin too because that seems to act faster and between the two the fever's gone until next cycle. One or two times we've experienced a low grade fever(101s) about 8-12 hours after but with one more dose of Motrin it's gone. Some people here have posted that they need a 2nd dose on occasion, but I've found for my son it's usually something else when a second dose of Pred is required. Hope that helps, Vivian
