Guest guest
I hear repeatedly that 30 grams of protein is the max that can be absorbed, but I haven't seen any research to support this. > > Is there a maximum amount of protein that can be absorbed at once? Guest guest
did you ever get a response to this question? I too have heard this and cannot find any research to back it. a a , MS, RD, LD Carle Weight Management Center 1802 S. Guest guest
Hello all. Please excuse all my questions. I am kind of needy right now as a beginner. I did do a search about protein but didn't really find anything that answered my question. Today I figured out how much protein, fat and carbs I should be having. At 5 ft 5 inches I am supposed to have 65 grams. I had a hard boiled egg and some bacon for breakfast and 8 oz of salmon for lunch and I was already over! Is it okay to be over on protein? I understand the imporantance of staying within your carb limit but honestly, without being able to eat more meat... I am just not sure I can make myself sit there and eat chunks of butter and oil! lol. Thanks again, p.s. I have epilepsy (and my seizures have been increasing in number) and so I can see how the high fat thing is similar to the ketogenic diet and might be a good benenfit to me. But if I remember correctly, that diet had a lot of meat on it too.

You are right: you DID eat all your protein in those three things. The question is, how much fat did you have? ,moderator

Guest guest
Hi . Today (well, yesterday) isn't really a good example of my eating for the week. I didn't figure out my grams until just an hour ago so I kind of went into this past week blind figuring I MUST be able to eat a lot of protein. So, I had the fat from the bacon and I seared the salmon in two Tbsp butter and poured 2 more Tbsp over it. Do we also count the fats in the foods? Because then there was fats in everything I ate (including the 1/2 avocado). I went to dinner with my mom and ate off plan (though I did order a salad and soup but the cheese and croutons and dressing and black beans were all non-diet friendly foods). So, counting only breakfast and I lunch, would I only count the butter as my fats for the day? In that case, 4 Tbsp of butter = 46 grams. With all those foods from breakfast and lunch it equaled 95 grams of fat. I think I really have a lot to learn. I am reading and asking questions and reading some more. Just trying to get a grip on all the details. Thanks for your help in advance! > > > [snip] > > > > Today I figured out how much protein, fat and carbs I should be having. That's why many members do great on my all meat and fat program. You didn't say how many fat grams were in your meats and eggs, since all of them have it. Bacon is particularly high, as well as all pork. It is better to buy meats that are not lean, if you can get them. There are many ways you can get fats without having to eat any by the chunk or spoonful: 1) Make Bee's Egg Drink for breakfast: http://www.healingnaturallybybee.com/recipes/recipe167.php 2) After cooking meats in unrefined coconut oil pour the oil over the meats. 3) Melt butter on any cooked meats or vegetables, which makes them taste delicious. 4) Add butter in soups, stews, broths, etc. 4) Ensure you count cod liver oil as a fat when you enter foods on fitday.com. All the best, Bee

Of course you include the fats in foods. Butter isn't the only kind of fats you should be having. Have you started on unrefined coconut oil yet, since you should be.
