Guest guest
Doctors and all their rules...I just hate that they think they have the right to determine how and when you get the results to tests. And it's always a long wait when you're waiting for critical test results. Good news about the RH... Been busy at work, home and riding my snowmobile ) My surgery is April 1st. We just had a family of 4 in Rochester NY that ALL had CI's within weeks of each other.. Since we only get the paper on weekend's I had not..Well, someone saved me a copy and when I read it I was suprised to see that I know the Father!) He worked part time for a friend of mine who is the manager of Sprint Relay in NY. He taught me how to use a TTY for the first time, and how to make a 2-line VCO call.. Guest guest
Hi , Sounds like things are a bit rough around the edges for you so stick close and let us try to help you make it better. Do you know any of the particulars of your mapping. If not.. ask for a print out when you go the next time so you have the information. What is amazing about the CI is the suddeness of how your brain can accept the sound and make it work for the user. I'm hoping that this is the case for you but perhaps you will be one of those who will need to practice and persevere. We are all so different. In fact.. I really don't know what to expect on Monday when we activate the new implant. It is very likely to sound much different than I'm used to and nothing like I heard a year ago. Even in the same person, re-implanted, there is no guarantee that the sound will be what you expect. Let us help you because this is what we are here for. Share what specific things sound like. Water is a given. It not a pleasant sound when you are first hooked up. If you have an auto- sensitivity program, you can use that to tone it down. There are a few books on the market about CI's and it's a good idea to read them if you haven't already. I hope you got 's Journal because it's very well written and gives valuable information. Be on the lookout because I too am in the process of writing a book - sharing experiences both good and bad. The more we can inform others, the better their understanding will be. I'm hoping that today you will recognize some nice sounds. Maybe some birds or a music box. Things will improve - I'm sure. Hugs! Guest guest
Hi Alice, yes things are a bit rough, but livable at the moment. One thing I have noticed is that voices tend to drop in volume by evening. I was talking to my neighbor and noticed it so switched to the P2 but it made her voice more hollow sounding. As for birds... well they just don't seem to want to be out and singing when I get off work Guess if it isn't raining this weekend I might get a chance. I will be getting a new mapping when I go back the 29th (got an email from the audi telling me that) and she thinks it will help alot. Will be nice when things are not so many beeps and whooses susan & hobbes michigan At 02:28 PM 4/7/2004 +0000, you wrote: >Hi , > >Sounds like things are a bit rough around the edges for you so stick >close and let us try to help you make it better. Guest guest
Be careful getting on a plan for Maui with a coil of wire. jackson update Here's an update from the friend who got good relief of his back pain with my 12v, 8 " , 50' of #12 double wire coil magnet pulserl: " Dick: My son has been in a lot of pain and oxycoden has not brought any relief. I just put the coil on his ankle and did a treatment and the pain was gone imediately. He has to leave Tuesday to go back to Maui, where he lives, and he was asking me if you had a harness made and for sale and without the battery. I would like to get one for him. If none are available, would you make one for me and I will send it to him at a later date. I will pay for the parts and labor. Let me know right away if you will. Jim " Note: His son has stress fractures in both feet that have not healed for some time. The md put one foot in a cast to see if immobilization would help. It was his other foot that was giving him pain, but he said that it worked on the one in the cast also. My thought is that possibly the magnetic pulsing could also promote healing of the fractures. He said that he could feel the pulsing in the bones and muscles. He will keep me posted, and I will send him the link to our group, so he can join and research the experiments. Guest guest
Hi , It's great to hear how is progressing and it sounds like she is right there where many 2 year olds are. You are right in saying it's sometimes difficult to decipher what any 2 year old is saying .. they vary greatly and this is true for hearing children too. I have a 2 1/2 yr old grandson living with me and some days he's clear as a bell, the next he'll be jabbering who knows what. Give this little gal some time and I'll bet by the time she's in Kindergarten she'll be right on schedule with her peers. I'm so happy you now have the chance to share your story with others so they can see how much has benefited in such a short time. I hope all continues to go well for you and your " little genius " <smiles> Please keep in touch and let us know how things are going. I love these success stories. Guest guest
Trish, One of the things that I have seen after someone has had a cochlear implant is the rapid loss of fear and an wonderful increase in amount of confidence they feel about themselves. So many of us use this confidence to speak before groups and share the miraculous changes that have taken place because the implant allows us to be more in tune with those around us. I'm so glad to see that you have experieced this already but more excited for your new abilities to hear and enjoy things that so many take for granted. These events bring new experiences and great pleasure. They are CI moments and we love hearing about them. No matter how small they may seem to some, they are not small accomplishments to us. Enjoy your day today. You've earned every bit of this. Alice > > Over the past week I have been in great demand.  Everyone wants to test my hearing and I'm having a ball.  This past thursday I went to a CI group meeting where I spoke to the group about my experiences with the CI.  Stood at the front of the room with a microphone.  Trish
