Guest guest
What material or how do you suggest for grounding shoe soles? I have a couple pair I don't wear near the pc for fear of frying it. One thing that helps a lot of people who get shocked when they get out of their cars, or walking certain places, myself included is to use natural progesterone lotion. Men and women both. If you're deficient, it somehow changes your chemical makeup that you shock easier. I can always tell when I've not used enough for a couple days. Our Walmart recently remodeled itself and installed new bright blue monitors at their checkouts that make me feel ill, where what they had before was tolerable. Anyone else notice that, or that they are shocked more in Walmart than other stores? Was not a problem till whatever all they changed in their wiring systems, but now I get shocked touching their shelves, and the whole store just feels worse. ~Snoshoe > Heh, heh... well there's an advantage to being male... When I wear these shoes, I get no shocks. Interesting about the progestorone lotion... I don't think I've heard that, and I wonder what the mechanism is? Guest guest
Hey that is interesting about the zinc and copper, hadn't ever seen that before. Too bad I didn't get some of the results from the prog. that woman did! I see people all the time with zinc deficiency, white spots on the nails are a dead giveaway that you're really deficient. If I find an article with the progesterone/shocking bit I'll post it. ~Snoshoe Oh, and " Happy PMS " makes a progesterone cream specifically for men called " Adam's Equalizer " I believe it is. Herbal extracts for them in it. > > Interesting about the progestorone lotion... It was the brown spots on the face that I identified with. I had these really bad when I was at my worst point. Now, most (but not all) of them have gone away. Dr. Mercola thinks that all men in the 40's should be taking it, but warns of overdoing it: http://www.mercola.com/1998/archive/natural_progesterone2.htm Marc

Guest guest
I would tend to be rather cautious using a hormone lotion - these things can have deep acting effects! Guest guest
Kay, I sympathize with you for your current back pain. This has been my constant companion for so many decades. I don't know whether yours is spondy related, however, this is classic spondilitis symptoms. A fall can trigger different problems in the SI area. My brother's AS was triggered or *brought into view* after a slip and fall on highly waxed Army building floors. I suspect mine was brought on by brushing our pool daily. (this was before they had automatic ones) or it could have been a case of typhoid fever....we can't be sure. My daughter's AS was brought into view just recently....because she took a second job taking care of show horses and another daughter started having problems as an RN...and lifting patients (both of them doing a lot of bending and lifting that they weren't accustomed to. Some of us with chronic AS, don't show a very large increase in SED rate, but we have a lot of inflammation, regardless. I fused in many areas...and my SED rate is only moderate. NSAID should help with the inflammation until your doctor makes a definite Dx. I guess you might be wondering if the bladder simulator was misplaced....don't know much about those kinds of things. Many of you with a chronic Reiter's syndrome can go on to a definite spondylitis of the SI joints. This might be happening to you or it could be another problem that isn't related to our disease. Slipped disk has similar symptoms of not being able to put shoes on...pain running down leg, etc. I tried to stay off pain meds until the last 15 years or so. Darvocet and NSAID, plaquenil, methotrexate, sleeping aids, helped some in those early years....when the pain was mostly after sleeping a few hours. Sleeping in a recliner helped. It was almost impossible to get in a comfortable position for sleep. Couldn't sleep on tummy or back. Slept with knees up and with a lot of pillows between legs, etc. Now, they are advocating the anti-TNF drugs earlier to help stop the inflammation and damage, but they are so expensive and many insurance doesn't cover. Hope this is just temporary and you're back to doing things you like to do. My youngest daughter just gave us number 15 grandchild...a boy. I drove to Miami over the holiday to see him. He was a month early, He is small, but healthy. :-) I'm glad I can still get around even though it is painful. Sitting too long, standing too long, walking too long, and sleeping is a pain. A friend, who is may age, just called and in the last 4 years...she had 8 serious operations. Breast cancer, thyroid cancer, uterine cancer which spread to her intestines, surgery which created abcess, and all the while she was complained to her doctor that her leg hurt. They finally took tests....and just found she had a broken leg!!! She doesn't even remember hurting it. They had to operate and put three pins in. So, I said to myself....oh, my God....Jewell is my age...and I wouldn't like to trade places with her....it really put my life into perspective. I guess as much as I don't like driving....I'll make a trip to see her in Orlando. She isn't able to go out at all...and because of her intestines being taken out...she can only eat ice cream. Poor thing. Well, I'm rambling. It is hard getting old. Best regards to all...happy New Year.
Guest guest
Pray,Stretching, Hot Baths, Low Light Laser Therapy, build your core muscles throgh excercise (stomach, lower spine) walk, eat light and lose weight if needed. fasting sometimes puts me into remission. Guest guest
Hi Kay and Granny Connie This makes me even firmer in my belief that the differing names of our diseases is hiding the fact that it is just one disease with many faces. That is why doctors have such a hard time diagnosing us properly, low back pain could be a number of origins not all related. For me, my SI Joints and Lumbar Spine and now showing in the thoracic spine are fused. The excess calcium in my SI Joints is pressing on both branches of the Sciatic nerve, with the left one being worse than the right and causes constant pain, sometimes nothing touches the pain and I veg out for a few days. My cervical spine is also in the process of fusing but I still manage to exercise it properly most of the time. Sooner or later I will have to turn in my driver's licence as doing shoulder checks in traffic just does not go well. Thankfully we live in the middle of the prairies in a small hamlet. Rush hour consists of cars and school busses lining up when a slow train goes through. Once the traffic arms go up it just takes a few seconds to untangle the tangled traffic. One thing I noticed over the holidays was the Check Stops for checking for drinkers driving. The past couple of years they have laid impaired charges on folks that had taken too much medication. You could have the sweetest breath in town but take too much medication you are just as impaired as a drinking driver. Now I must ask myself, what does that last paragraph have to do with a discussion on back pain?????? Just that it is a pain in the butt to have to stop for check stops. Blessings to all +Dave
Guest guest
This is how it started with me as well...one pain after the other...2 weeks to 2 months apart for each new part. They called it " global pain " and sent me to a rheumy. There...he tested for gout and HLA-B27 and found the B27. Diagnosis was easy from there I guess. ReA. Taking Enbrel now for it and it has saved my life. I highly recommend trying it if the doc says it is appropriate. I broke my toe today running (only able to run because of the Enbrel) and stubbed it on a chair on my deck. I didn't think the Enbrel would allow any inflamation...but the toe sure did puff up normally. I'll take a broke toe to all of the ReA pain any day though Good luck to you.
