Guest guest
I recently had some real PH issues which resulted in a pain similar to what you describe. Have you taken your urine PH recently? Was it alkaline or acid? Have you tried reducing the Vitamin C (an acid)? -Lana I began taking Vitamin C 3000 mg , 1/2 tsp sea salt, and 2 drops of Lugol's a day in early October. The first week in November I started experiencing severe back pain in the kidneys to the point that even walking with small steps was painful. It was a burning, aching, tight feeling in that area of the back . This went on for a week and then I began my period. The next day the pain eased somewhat. The period lasted 10 days and I haven't had one since. The pain in my back, however, still happens at times for a week or two at a time although not as incapacitating as when it happened the first time. I just stopped taking the Lugol's for a couple of weeks thinking that might be the problem and my back felt somewhat better but only for a few days and the ache was back again. I just started with the Lugol's again at 2 drops daily a couple of days ago. I stopped the sea salt 10 days ago, thinking that might be the problem, but no such luck. I haven't resumed that yet. I asked the endo in December if the pain could be my adrenals, since I went to him for low cortisol problems. He laughed and said no, that I needed to check with my GP and have him check my kidney functions. My kidneys were fine in mid summer when I had tests run. Guest guest
Hi Lana, No, I haven't checked that although I do have some strips so I will do that. The Vitamin C is the only other supplement that I have added that I haven't discontinued to see if it made a difference. I am an O blood type and from what I have read we are usually acidic by nature so my guess is that the urine will test acidic too. Thanks for the suggestion! Guest guest
I have been taking 10 drops of 2% iodine-2.4% sodium iodide first thing in the morning on an empty stomach. It seems like I now need a little nap in the afternoon but that is Ok because a sleep only 4-6 hours at night. I have lost around 7 pounds in the last 10 days but I am cutting back on a few things since starting this treatment for10 days. The only thing a little different is that I get headaches a few times a day above my eyes. I am 57 and weight 235 6’4’’and in fairly good health. Is this enough iodine? Thanks From: iodine [mailto:iodine ] On Behalf Of dwarrickh Sent: Monday, February 05, 2007 4:36 PM iodine Subject: Back Pain Is it normal to experience back pain in the kidney area on both sides when using Lugol's? Could this be a symptom of detox? If it is would it last for 4 months? Anyone else have this problem? Or experience kidney pain on iodine supplementation? The pain doesn't seem to be in that area of the body though. It is above the waist area going up my back on both sides. I am 51 and was having some problems with frequent, light periods before I had the last 10 day one which was heavy. My saliva tests in late September showed my progesterone levels at >1000 due to three months of supplementing with Progesterone cream. My latest saliva tests received last week showed Progesterone down to 88 but I have no idea where in my cycle I am or if I am in menopause now. That number would be in range if postmenopausal and also in the follicular stage but quite low if in luteal (65-500 range). I am on 2 grains of Armour (just raised that dose last week) but have been on Armour since early August so I don't think that is my problem. Any ideas or feedback? Thanks! Guest guest
Lana, Although it is suggested on the box that PH be tested in the morning I checked it just now and it was 6.4, so definitely acidic. I will discontinue the additional Vitamin C that I am taking and see if that makes a difference. My multi has 800 mg in it though. Guest guest
the pain is adrenal (low)--how embarrassing for the endo. I really think 8 drops of Lugols might be more effective but you probly need cortef too. Saliva testing always shows very high if you are taking progesterone cream, I don't think it's reliable. Guest guest
I was taking 8 pellets of Isocort a day for a while but had to wean off in early December for a ACTH Stim test done by a new endo. I still had pain with the Isocort. After I did new saliva tests on January 22 I began self treating with HC. Now up to 15 mg a day. Guest guest
I wasn't overly impressed with the endo and will not be going back. I am now self treating with HC. I was expecting the progesterone levels to be high since I had used it three weeks prior to the September saliva tests. I didn't use it after that and the levels came back down. Basically I wanted those tests for cortisol readings which showed Level 7 Adrenal Fatigue. I was on 1 1/2 gr Armour and 25 mcg Cytomel at the time and the addition of the Cytomel just about killed me (idiot GP). I stopped the Cytomel right after the tests and began Isocort. My January saliva tests showed Level 4 with the Cytomel out of my system and still on the 1 1/2 grains. Still hypo though! Dianne > > > the pain is adrenal (low)--how embarrassing for the endo. Guest guest
yep, same thing with the urination. It didnt' take much zilling to alter the thing causes it. Just a few times a month for an hour on the wrist is more than enough and I go down and stay down. Nice. It's so fun finding serendipitous benefits like this. I took beta- sitosterol, and that works, also, but you have to keep taking and taking it. Zilling, once you do it awhile, seems to knock it out very well for a much longer time than the supplements or pills. ahhahahah amazing. bG > > A month, or more, ago I reported zilling foot to foot with a 6v battery for a number of hours without changing polarity, while sitting at the pc. A day, or so, later my lower back was very painful for about 3 days, and I blamed it on overloading the kidneys with dead pathogens, or something. A suggestion was made to change polarity every 5 or 10 minutes, and to not zill for that long at a time. Much better would be to do no more than 20 or 30 minutes per session, and zill 2 or 3 times a day instead. > > Because of visitors in the house I have not zilled for a week, or two, but a few days ago I got the same lower back pain. The day before the pain I had been standing at the work bench for many hours. Evidently, I stand leaning slightly forward from the waist, which puts a strain on my lower back muscles. Gone in about 3 days. > > So, this pain, and probably the previous one, were caused by over stressed muscles, not from zilling too long. > > But, guess what. Since I have not been zilling foot to foot I have been having to get up at nights. The current evidently keeps the prostate from swelling, or for some reason I do not wake up with the urge. Nice. Others have reported this also. > > Now I will take my old 4-AA battery holder, that I built for wrist blood electrification, and crimp some pin connectors on it, so I can use it with TENS electrodes, inner thigh to inner thigh. I can cut a hole in one pocket to extend the wires, or fasten it on my belt. As for switching polarity I guess I'll have to drop my trowsers every 5 minutes. Or maybe I can find an inline DPDT switch. > > Ain't this fun? > > Dick > > > >
Guest guest
Hey Donna, I have been off- line for a few days and just read your post. I am sorry you are having the dreaded back pain. I had a friend that had a little swelling too. The good news is that it will go away. It was so great meeting you and your wonderful husband in Mexicali. I am so glad we were there at the same time. Hopefully we will be able to meet up again someday. I will hopefully be taking Amy back for a check up with Dr Aceves the first week of April during her Spring Break. I am praying the airline tickets go down! Lets keep in touch! God Bless, Donna <dfs67@...> wrote: I have the pain all the time. It is refreshing to hear success stories and you certainly have overcome some big obtacles very early on in your life time!! I am glad to hear that you are still sticking with your program. For many here that is not an option at this point in our injuries but hopefully once the body allows it that these core exercises will be a part of our lives again. When I injured my back the second time around I was feeling great (before injury)and had a smooth exercise program going and had lost a substantial amount of weight after a long haul with neck surgery, etc... I was probably feeling better than I had felt in a long time and was even working with weights and just overall felt in good shape--and of course the reason I'm here--I messed up my back, but didn't even know it right away. I started out with terrible foot pain while on the treadmill and it about knocked me off my rocker--long story--here I am doing a little bit of nothing. My hope is that someday I can get back where I was because I felt on top of the world and now I feel like I'm at the bottom. Thank you for sharing your story of hope and encouragement!! Guest guest
Bobby - I am sorry to hear about your ongoing problems. That lower back area is such a problem for so many of us, with the associated leg pain so often being a part of it. To me, it sounds like your doctor has become apathetic. Perhaps it is time for another opinion. By the way, what type of surgery did you have? Guest guest
Your son needs to consult a spine/neuro surgeon to see if the tumor can be removed. Needing to go through the abdomen is not a good enough reason to delay treatment especially when he is in such pain and perhaps in danger of paralysis. Guest guest
Hi Tracey, Retaining fluid and getting back pain sounds as though it's possibly low magnesium. Magnesium in blood/serum/cells is diluted by the effect of the fluid build-up, plain and simple. In theory your body should adjust the electrolyte content consistent with what your kidneys do; sorry, it's the other way around, your kidneys should adjust your sodium (and chloride) content consistent with the blood level of sodium.....everything else should, in theory, fit in with the steady loss of both potassium, magnesium and sulphate via the kidneys and/or sweating mechanisms. Being sick or having the runs also puts a lot of pressure on the electrolytes, hence, becomes critical in babies and can cause distress (can be life-threatening) in adults too. Rehydration with plain salt water won't work, since it also requires glucose (from any source) to get the sodium back in via a sodium/glucose 'co-transporter' system in the gut. The cells that absorb the sodium have proteins in their surface that need both glucose and sodium to work properly. It's a bit like a chip shop will only sell " fish and chips " and not just " chips " or " fish " on their own...:-)..if you see the analogy. In the case of magnesium, both postassium and magnesium seem to be needed to maintain some sort of equilibrium .....that's most of the reason for the advice " five portions " of fruit and/or vegetables a day. So rah, rah, rah, at least something does make sense. The mechanisms by which magnesium is both absorbed and disposed around the body have only recently (last few years ) been discovered (R. Bindels et al).....the need for magnesium has likewise been known for a very long time but the actual cellular sites and mechanisms have taken longer to put together, in a consistent manner. A touch of magnesium at certain times of the month is likely to be helpful, and only you can tell when that is. best wishes Bob > > My lower back is in agony again. Guest guest
Hi Tracey, Diuretics can work wonders so don't discount them entirely. When you get your thyroid sorted you may be able to stop, but in the meantime why suffer unnecessarily? The pain may be also because of your menstrual cycle as low thyroid can royally mess this up. Subject: Back pain My lower back is in agony again. I have noticed that this always happens when I have periods of sudden weight gain/fluid retention(?) Yesterday I woke up 3 1b heavier than the previous day and, as it was the week following my period, I am normally at my lightest then. I had difficulty physically moving around, even bending forwards. Today My legs are cramping too. I have my GP appointment at 4pm this afternoon so he can give his verdict on my most recent bloods (TSH 6.18 and T4 9.20) - he'd better diagnose me this time as I am so fed up with feeling awful. What I'd like to ask forum members is could my periodic back spasms be due to thyroid problems or are they more likely to be something else entirely? I KNOW the fluid retention is connected with my failing thyroid but I don't want to be talked into being fobbed off with diuretics - especially as I'm having palpitations and breathing difficulties much more frequently these days. Guest guest
Hi Tracey - BEG him to give you a trial of thyroxine this time. I posted earlier saying what the consequences of untreated hypothyroidism were - and this is quite frightening. Copy that out and show him. Good luck, I will be thinking about you. The pain is very likely to be caused because you are not getting the T3 into your muscles that they need. With such a low T4 and raised TSH, it is frightening that they are not giving you a diagnosis. Luv - Sheila My lower back is in agony again. Guest guest
I take diuretics and have for years. When I don't take them, I swell like a balloon and my feet are utterly unbearable. I take 50 mgs Co-Amizolide daily. Quite simply, if you a person who retains fluid, then you need to get rid of it. Luv - Sheila Hi Tracey,Diuretics can work wonders so don't discount them entirely. Guest guest
I swell up periodically and it is different to what I would call normal fluid retention. I used to regularly get the pre-menstrual bloating and swollen ankles but that always went in one day and was quite managable. These recent swelling episodes don't tie in with my monthly cycle and affect me all over, even my eyes hurt and around my eye sockets. It always corresponds to feeling bitterly cold and shaky and, on increasingly, I get the stiff back and cramping too. I tried taking some herbal diuretics but they did not work at all. I'm careful to eat plenty of fresh fruit and veg and to drink a sensible amount of fluid. Normally this time of month I wee out all the fluid gained during my period. It just didn't happen this time or the last. My mum was put on diuretics in the years before her hypothyroidism was discovered. She got heart palpitations and sometimes collapsed in the street while she was taking them. That has caused me to be a bit wary of taking them myself. Since she's been on thyroxine, the fluid retention problem has been less of an issue for her. Anyway, I'm off to the GP in a couple of hours so hopefully will be in a better position afterwards. that is, if I can even make it up the road! I can barely walk at the moment and am frantically warming myself up with hot water bottles. Tracey > > I take diuretics and have for years.
