Guest guest
***Hi April I went back and looked at your original post, which began: >>I'm increasing my fat intake so I can get to a good protein/fat ratio but I'm not sure if I've got the numbers right. Yesterday I had 8 tablespoons of fat, 4 oz of chicken, 4 oz of shrimp and 1 egg drink (2 eggs) for protein. Fats came to 136g, protein was 76g and veggies came to only 35g of carb. Because of my height I should only have had 68g of protein (and aiming for 170 g of fat).<< If this is your question, then you want to follow the grams allowed (not being concerned with percentages) as per the ratios for you and me (5'6 " ): 68 grams of protein 170 to 238 grams of fats 54 grams of carbs But...I thought you were trying to figure out how much protein to have if you lowered your fat intake temporarily. You wrote: >If I reduce fats to slow down the detoxing, then I should have even less protein than that? With say 4 Tbsp of fat, would I be able to have something like 1 piece of chicken and 1 egg for the whole day? I think I'll be really hungry on only that amount of protein. I don't know if I'm figuring this out correctly.< I think that is where Bee's first response came in: >>+++20% protein to 60% fat is in calories, so you could enter only meats, eggs and fats into fitday.com and then scroll down and look at the calorie pie chart, which will indicate the percentages.<< Let's assume she did not mean 60% fat but higher, like 70-80%. I would enter as much fat as you plan on taking in a day then start entering your protein till the percentages (yes, no longer looking at grams) are in line w/what Bee is suggesting (20/80). Then, to keep you from being hungry, add in those veggies. I don't know that I can tell you to eat the full 10 cups of veggies, tho! Let's see what Bee says... , moderator ---------------------------------------------------------------------- From: april Sent: Tuesday, May 24, 2011 11:39 AM Subject: figuring out right amount of protein and fat Hello , I'm glad you replied to my question, that means someone understands what I'm asking and I didn't get my numbers all wrong LOL. If I use fitday to enter protein and then work out 60% of fat, it tells me I need under 100g of fat, not 170g. I have to choose either 60% at 100 grams, OR 80% at 170 grams, they can't both work. Thanks , I hope we get tot he bottom of this! April
