Guest guest
Kit, you should put all your nutritional advice into a book. I've never seen so many breakfast combos in one place. You have an amazing amount of knowledge and useful, practical help. I have so many of your e mails pasted in my book that soon I'll be accused of stalking you LOL! Leaner. Guest guest
Kristal, I can't answer your question about what might be causing this, but can offer the following after my own experience of 7 years of recurrent but significantly decreasing infections. 1) Avoid using broad spectrum antibiotics. Insist that a culture and sensitivity test be taken before antibiotics are administered. Results take 3-5 days. Often it's not possible to wait that long before treating, but if the antibiotic is wrong then it can be changed without having to wait for more symptoms. Sometimes there's more than one bacteria in play so symptoms will initially subside with an antibiotic because it's effective with one bacteria but nt the other(s). 2) Be sure this new infection is not fungal before treating it with antibiotics. Always take a probiotic supplement, and increase the frequency during and for 2 weeks after taking antibiotics. 3) It may be time to ramp up bathing hygiene precautions while Brett is more vulnerable. I always only use washcloths and towels only once. Because I'm small I get away with just one washcloth for wet and one for dry per bath; smaller cloths keep laundry volume down. During these times I ramp up hand-washing and glove use. I also change sheets more often, don't wear clothing twice, scrub out orthotic equipment, and wipe down door knobs, light switches, remote controls, phones, and computer peripherals with a 10% bleach solution once or twice a week. 4) Increase hydration and reduce sugar. 5) If infections persist, get a referral to an Infectious Disease Specialist. My doctor, Yenjean Hwang, has saved my life by protecting me from willy-nilly antibiotic use. I hope this helps! Alana > > Hello! I hope everyone is well. I have a few questions that maybe someone may be able to help with. In early April, Brett had a g-tube infection that got really bad. Keep in mind, Brett has had only 2 minor infections in 6 years. But it was very warm to the touch, puffy, painful and had brown pus. He was on antibiotics and got over it. Then he got a fungal infection in the creases of his legs around his privates from wearing diapers while he was on the antibiotic- caused explosive bowel movements. We got cream and he got over it. Then he came down with a cold, which he still has.....going on week 4. (And yes we are doing IPV, postural drainage, nebs, cough assist and Bi-Pap). And yesterday in mid day, his tube site started to look exactly like it did last month. Needless to say I am exhausted and frustrated and just wanna freakin' scream. > > BUT my question is could he have something underlying causing this? I have been searching online trying to find info about different bacterial infections but nothing really. Just wondering if there might be something else to all of this. We have not changed any supplements or bathing rituals...just kind of at a loss trying to figure out how to get this kid healthy again. Wondering if anyone had any input...guess we will go back to the doctor again next week. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Most of the time I feel like an old pro but kinda lost on this... > > Kristal- Mom to Brett- SMA II- 10 years old > Visit Brett @ www.our-sma-angels.com/brett > OR www.caringbridge.org/visit/brettwilson > > -- > To post, send your email to smasupportgooglegroups > For digest & archive options, visit http://groups.google.com/group/smasupport > > > -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- > > > > No virus found in this incoming message. > Checked by AVG - www.avg.com > Version: 8.5.437 / Virus Database: 271.1.1/2873 - Release Date: 05/14/10 06:26:00 > > >
Guest guest
Hi Bee, Im wondering a few things: 1. Is avacado ok on the diet 2. Is canned tuna ok on the diet ....and third, Im wondering if I can progress while taking .50 of a benzodiazapine. 6 months ago I began the diet very loosely and I found that I was always exhausted and overly irritable with everyone and so at my request the doctor prescribed Ativan while I healed. Being that I kept cheeting on my diet, Im still taking this drug to help me feel more awake and to be civil to my family and friends. I don't want to stay on this drug forever so I tried 2 days without it and I felt as if gravity were pulling me back to the bed all day long and I felt fearful of going out because I felt so sick and tired as well as acutely annoyed at everybody. I've been steady without cheeting for about a week now (cheeting even once worsens my symptoms on an ongoing basis). So I'm ready to give it my all on this diet, but I want to make sure that temporarily staying on Ativan won't hinder or altogether prevent my progress. Thanks again Bee Lore

All you need to do is check the Food List and you'll see both of them are on it: http://www.healingnaturallybybee.com/articles/foodslist.php > > ...and third, Im wondering if I can progress while taking .50 of a benzodiazapine. 6 months ago I began the diet very loosely and I found that I was always exhausted and overly irritable with everyone and so at my request the doctor prescribed Ativan while I healed. Thanks again Bee +++Staying on Ativan and other drugs can either slow or stop your progress. You shouldn't stop them entirely and instead lower your doses gradually, even if the dose size means you take them every other day, then every 3 days and so on. It is normal to feel really bad for awhile after going off drugs because you body will then become able to detoxify them, so you may have to endure such symptoms in the meantime.
