The chard looks like a nutritional powerhouse with 150mg of magnesium per cup. Too bad its a diuretic so it shouldn't be consumed all the time +++Hi , It takes a long time to completely cook leafy greens. My friend timed cooking Swiss Chard, which is about 50 minutes. If it isn't fully cooked it goes through the bowels more quickly, which is why fiber [in all plant foods] needs to be cooked well so it is broken down. Diuretic means it makes your body get rid of water, and water is eliminated through the kidneys, not through the bowels. Therefore, I doubt the Swiss Chard made you have an unexpected bowel movement. If you had a watery movement, like diarrhea, it wasn't caused by the Swiss Chard. Bee
