I've been trying to take it recently after finding a good and affordable brand. Organic virgin coconut oil. It tastes wonderful!!! > > Anyway, I started with only a teaspoon and I have to say it didn't take long before I wound up with cramping and bloating in the gut and brain fog. I've had only a teaspoon of the stuff here and there, but these reactions are quite intolerable at the moment. I feel like I'm half asleep. +++Hi Bex. Ensure you only have coconut oil with complete meals that contain protein, otherwise your reactions will be worse than is necessary. However, your reactions are all due to healing and detoxifying symptoms since coconut oil is a healing food that helps your body heal and detoxify, so it is nothing to be concerned about. +++You might need to start with 1/2 teaspoon with each of 3 meals per day, and then slowly increase it. > > I rely on this diet and it's enabled me to start doing some part time work! But these reactions are really getting to me at the moment. +++Are you just starting on this program? If not, how long have you been on it. Of course you aren't on it completely until you are taking coconut oil. > > I just need a little reassurance the coconut oil. The symptoms are SO similar to what happens if I feed the candida. In fact, I can barely distinguish them apart. But I know it cannot be feeding it. It just feels like it. I do great on butter and never have a problem no matter how much I consume in both cooking and eating it straight. I eat alot of onions too. So I'm unsure why I would be responding so strongly to coconut oil! +++Yes the symptoms are similar because all symptoms and reactions, whether they are because candida is overgrowing more, or because of any other health issue, are all healing and detoxifying symptoms the body itself creates. In fact all of the disease processes are exactly the same as the healing and detoxifying processes created by the body itself in an effort to maintain its health, in spite of poor nutrition, toxins, etc. The only difference for people on this healthy program is they are now progressing towards health rather than becoming more and more unhealthy, or dis-eased, because they are giving their body what it needs to " be healthy " according to Nature's Laws on Health. The medical field labels each and every " sign " of poor health as separate dis-eases, illnesses, symptoms, etc., however all of them are simply " signs " the body is working hard to maintain its health, so all of those " signs " are actually normal body reactions. In other words, they are just " signs " that the body is successfully attempting to restore its own balance. As Florence Nightengale, the famous nurse, puts it: " There are no specific diseases; there are [only] specific disease conditions. " > > What should I do here? Should I stop for a few days and try again on 1/2 teaspoon? I'm in some pain here and the bloating and brain fog are really quite intolerable. You cannot avoid all healing and detoxifying reactions since that is how the body heals itself, however lowering the dose to 1/2 tsp with complete meals 3 times a day will help. So no, I've not been on the entire programme yet. But am a great supporter of Dr Weston price and see that much of what you suggest is in line with his findings. I'm struggling with supplements and coconut oil. Strange as it may seem. I can put up with detox and die off symptoms, but only to the extent where I can still do my job. So for me it's a slow process! Thank you again for the advice. Bex
