Guest guest
Liz, If you can figure out a way, I will send you the $20.00. I know you probably don't want to post your address, but can you think of another way tot get it to me so I could mail it to you? Your sister in Christ, Connie Re: Frustrated Liz, Until you can go to the foot doctor, I would suggest you go to http://www.harrietcarter.com and order the phase 4 orthodics. That is what my husband uses and he swears by them. I have regular orthodics that were prescribed for me a long time ago. They really do make a difference. The phase4 orthodics cost $20.00, but in my opinion are really worth the $20.00. I have purchased two pairs for my husband (one for his work shoes and one for his tennis shoes) a pair for my 12 year old and a pair for my 11 year old. Hope this helps you. Guest guest
Lizzy I ordered these also. My son used them for a while for sports until he healed his foot from an injury. I tried them but I had a hard time getting use to them It is worth a shot. Best regards and blessings R Sorry for your frustration you are doing awesome Re: Frustrated Thank you Karma!!!!! Guest guest
I can relate, Liz. In my case, I have very high arches and wear prescribed orthotics every day. Karma, do you know if they work for high arches, too? And do they fit in regular shoes pretty well? There's not a whole lot of info about them on the websites I saw. Thanks! Guest guest
Hello Sweet Liz, It sounds like there are many of us with feet that don't want to cooperate with us. I was recently out of town setting up a new Life Lift Health Center for my sweet daughter Amber and my sweet baby sister to run. I ran around so much that my feet had to be taped they were so blistered. It was terrible. The worst part was that I have some real problems and I think it was from too many too cute, girly shoes in my past. Those high heels are not good in the long run. It is terrible when it hurts just to take a step. My heart goes out to you/ I will say a prayer for your sweet little feet. As usual our dear, precious Karma is right on top of things because I bought some of the same shoe inserts that Karma is talking about and I LOVE them. I really hope they help. I use them in all of my shoes. I put little tape strips in my sandals or they will slip out. They really do make a big difference. I hope you feel better sweet girl. Guest guest
Ok ladies I really need your help!!! I had my bone scan t,hen last week I had an MRI done on my ankle and foot. It doesn't look good and of course me feeling pity for myself, I have eaten everything in sight! Then my mom calls me everyday to update me on her weight lost and I get more frustrated. She had that surgery where she doesn't eat anymore. I am very happy for her because she has gone from 400 lbs to 275 right now. She is constantly bragging the she is gonna be thinner than me which makes me even more mad. So I need your help to get me motivated to get back on track. I haven't even weighed myself, that's how much self pity I'm in. ~dd (screaming at the top of my lungs))

Start by writing out a food plan and sticking to it. Even if you have a chocolate bar written down, it's a plan and should help keep you from binging on 10 chocolate bars. Keep a food journal and include *how* you feel and why you're eating, and look it over frequently. Sometimes seeing that you ate a bag of chips because you felt angry will stop you from doing it a second time. Drink your water. Do exercises from a chair - maybe treat yourself to 's Sit Tight tape. And drink even more water. I haven't > even weighed myself, that's how much self pity I'm in. Don't! What good would it do, anyway? Just continue a healthy eating plan from now, and in a month or so hop on the scale and see where you are, if you want. Ignore the numbers on the scale until you get back into your routine. Guest guest
What do you mean by, " it doesn't look good " ? Will it never heal? Will it take a long time to heal? Will your walking be altered or restricted by braces, canes, splints, etc? Are you unable to bear weight on it at all? Secondly, the good thing about hitting bottom is that you want to go up. Is there a food plan you want to try, or is there one that has worked for you in the past? Maybe you need to tell your mom " ya know mom that is great, and I'm so happy for you because you have done well, but right now I have other medical problems that are going on and I need to focus on getting that taken care of at the moment, and I need to focus on myself so I can eventually be able to tell you how much weight I've lost and then you can be proud of me " I don't know how well something like that would work, but it may be worth a shot. > > So I need your help to get me motivated to get back on track. I haven't > even weighed myself, that's how much self pity I'm in. I think it was Sue that suggested waiting a month or so after you've been eating better and then step on to see where you are at. It may be better for yourself since you seem to be in a place that if it shows a big gain it may be more likely to eat more then start eating healthy. Let us know how you are doing! a
Guest guest
Kim At this point all I know right now is that I will have surgery (if everything looks good) they will just go in and scrap fragments from between the bones. (if it looks bad) I will then have nuts and bolts holding my ankle together. I guess part of the reason of my binging is that I am so scared. I have never been sick at all. The only time I was ever in the hospital was to have babies. And of course I made my mom stay with me and told my husband to go home. With having 2 teenage boys and a 3 year old girl reality set in. We went to the Washington fair Saturday and me who usually out walks everyone could only walk for about an hour before I was in tears. I can't even image it being any worse. And with all of the support here I AM going to do better. I started eating better last night and tonight I am going to plan my menu for the rest of the week. Again thank you all for being here and listening to me vent yesterday! ~dd RE: frustrated>Date: Mon, 8 Sep 2003 14:14:09 -0700>> Ok ladies I really need your help!!! Same here, unless you want to count getting my tonsils out when I was 5. And when I had Henry, they kicked me out in a day and a half. Good for you! Just think of it as prepping yourself for that surgery. You should get yourself in the best possible shape physically and it should make your post-op and rehab period afterwards go that much more smoothly. Guest guest
--- Hi Eve... you do not have alot of fat left to loose. instead of cutting down your calories and worrying about glycemic index and making yourself crazy..why not try just simply changing your workouts? outsmart that body of yours! I never change the way I eat..but if I plateau I change the workout..for me..it works immensely. It has taken me a while to learn this about my body..but I think it will work for you. just sit back..relax..and follow bfl as you have...nutrition wise..and maybe change those workouts. you could try doing a split as well. back and bi's one day..tri's and calves one day..you get my drift. and what about changing the HIIT you are doing. remember how much you luv to swim Eve..well guess what..I have incorporated swimming as my HIIT and it is just as effective I am finding..maybe more so..than land exercise. since I have started swimming my shoulders are getting rock hard. and this has only been a couple of weeks. that is what I do for my cardio now..and I feel it in my abs too. you know that..and I know you luv swimming. I know I thought you said you have been doing elliptical for your cardio didn't you? so what do you think of just changing up your workouts? this works for me very very well. I do not think you should take out cheat day..but changing the workouts will most likely be what gets you over that plateau. you have heard your body get's used to things..you have to outsmart it before it gets the best of you. Don't worry so much about this Eve..this is an easy thing to fix and get going again okay. Let me know what you think okay. sorry this is sooo long. have you tried swimming for HIIT? if you need to know how to do it or any idea how to do it ..let me know k.. I am almost 100 percent sure this would work for you to get you off a plateau. Guest guest
Hi Eve, What is your current menu now? What is your bodyfat? Are you still doing vanilla BFL? I cut out free day a long time ago and did notice some difference. I maintain my bodyfat between 16-18%. Doing all of this isn't actually driving me crazy, you get used to it. My workout routine is actually more intensive then the regular BFL stuff and has been for about 3 weeks(for weights anyway) so it has just recently changed and I plan on changing it sometime mid november. > try doing a split as well. back and bi's one day..tri's and calves > one day..you get my drift. and what about changing the HIIT you are I'm doing a 3 day split now instead of 2 days split which I find is working my muscles a lot more . > thought you said you have been doing elliptical for your cardio > didn't you? so what do you think of just changing up your workouts? > this works for me very very well. Having done a lot of swimming for a few months at intervals, I know that swimming wasn't doing it for me as far as raising metabolism. A simple test was done when I moved from that to HIIT outside the water and saw results. I know I just have to keep going at it and eventually it will come but cripes I am getting impatient I mean my ultimate goal is to be a lot more muscular as in leaning towards serious bodybuilding without competing but I wonder how long it will take me to even look like I've " started " (I wouldn't mind being slightly ripped like ). The only part of the original bfl that I am no longer doing is the weights which is now a 3 day split wih 2-3 exercises per muscle groups. A typical day menu would be something like this M1: 4-5 egg whites, 1/3 cup of oatmeal with 1tbsp sugar free maple syrup M2: Half a nitrotech bar with water M3: Salad with cucumber, mushrooms and a can of chunk light tuna in water. Dressing is 1tbsp of flax oil a little balsamic vinegar and spices M4: Half a nitrotech bar with water M5: Salad or veggies with fish M6: Usually a protein shake with a few strawberries added. I eat the nitrotech bars because they are convenient to have around and I have a bunch left, I plan on picking up a few RDI's sometime today. For lunch I'll sometimes have some shrimp instead of tuna. I try and stay away from starchy foods but I do have whole grain bread and whole wheat pasta every now and then. The one thing I haven't been taking a lot of lately is l-glutamine. I don't know but it " seems " like this menu is fine and I have been eating this way for 3 weeks or so. Guest guest
Hi Eve, Your menu is pretty good but I would add in some more complex carbs (barley, yams, etc) make sure you are eating enough to build those muscles which will burn that fat. Honestly I would ditch the bars and use them for emergency only. I would also suggest taking mackerel oil one of the best EFA's out there, if you get downtown, there is health good store that has a lemon flavoured one so no fishy taste or after taste but you could also use Udo's or Flax. One thing that really helped knock me off a plateau (I emailed in a panic one day) and she suggested circuit training once in a while. Maybe try her burn out circuit once in a while or create your own. I know you are already in great shape so now it just tweaking the little things! You will get there. I only eat cottage cheese a specific way and it is not my preferred source of protein either. You go to fitness world don't you? What do you think of their circuit workout, the one with the 8 weight machines and the step? I used to do that (~1 yr ago) and it did help me lose bodyfat(8lbs of it). Maybe do that instead of the regular HIIT?(I always thought it was exhausting too).
Guest guest
Wow. , I don't know what to say! The only thing I can think of is that maybe the IVIG was still in his system enough to skew the numbers? Plus, IVIG only replaces the IgG's right? Did they test his complement antibodies? Or check for any other immune issues? I think I would definitely take him someplace for a second opinion, since clinically he does not match what they say his " numbers " are. Guest guest
from Dale, Mom to Katy, CVID, age 19 , who is treating your son -- an immunologist or a pediatrician? I know you are scared, but you are also responsible for this child's well-being and you have the right to have your questions answered. So, scared or not scared, someone needs to listen to your concerns and give you valid reasons for their theories. You need to get a copy of those " tests " results to see what was checked and what was not. And most of all, hang in there. There's more than one doctor out there! And it's vitally important that you get your son the help he needs to prevent future problems. I'm praying for you right now, for your strength and wisdom to handle this. Guest guest
Hi I can really identify with your post..though our situation is the reverse of yours... began IVIG treatment a year ago..not really because of her blood results (all normal or near normal)..she does have a poor response to vaccinations esp HiB and pneumovax..but she does eventually mount responses...she began on IVIG because of, as her immuno put it..the clinical picture..ie multiple invasive life threatening bacterial infections..chronic skin and ENT infections etc etc...her doctor works very closely with us and we have agreed to give her another year on IVIG and then give her a trial without it with antibiotic cover....he is convinced she has an immune deficiency he says the problems with the tests that they do are generally quantitative..ie dealing purely with counts, perhaps more relevant to children with OK levels but multiple infections would be qualitative tests ie looking at what the different antibodies etc actually do....certainly in the UK these sorts of tests are not available for all aspects of the immune system...as he put it we have to wait for technology to catch up!!!..BTW has been relatively infection free on IVIG... I totally identify with the frustration you feel...before we saw the immunologist it took us three years to get through to the local doctors that it was not 'normal' for a child to need IV antibiotics nearly every month and to get first cellulitis then osteomyelitis then meneigitis then pneumonia three times as well as needing grommets and having tonsilitis that resulted in septicaemia four times..........................you are right they never seem to look at the WHOLE picture... Can you ask for a referral elsewhere...your doctors seem really complacent...it must be so hard for you... Guest guest
My advice is to hang in there and don't start over. Very few of us, if any, are totally perfect. Make a list of small-term goals. Even for the seminar, if you can't make/get to BFL meals, make yourself take the best possible choices of the bad foods. Set a goal to eat 6 small meals and no snacking or something like that. I think you can still get some great results even if the first 2 weeks are less than impressive. Guest guest
Don't give up, n. I've had some not-so-good days myself, but you only lose if you give up. Keep going. When I eat something I shouldn't I repeat what one of the women on L & S told me " You're only 2 1/2 hours away from getting yourself back on track " So when you screw up with your eating, just make the next meal clean and keep going. Guest guest
---Hey n! hey..first 2 weeks...some minor mishaps..no..you definately have not screwed up the whole challenge! you have 10 weeks left! there is massive changes that can be made in 10 weeks. I screwed up the first 5 weeks of my last challenge but still had some progress. you will too! alot of us have felt that way..messing up a bit..then wanting to quit cause we think it may mess up our whole challenge..but it won't. you stick to this and you will see things happen I promise! I am on my fourth challenge so have been going at this awhile and I know the ups and downs..I well..have been having some downs on this challenge myself. we all have them. but those who keep going will succeed no matter if they mess up a few times..or more than a few times. you have alot of weeks left..nothing is gonna stop you so take advantage of those great weeks you have. you won't be sorry! I can tell you that for sure! Kathi In , " n " <wichilover@y...> wrote: > Hello, I am so frustrated with myself!!! I am finishing off my > second week and this week has been horrible!
