Guest guest
Kim, My 14 year-old son has been on 60 mg Celexa for about 3 weeks now. The psychiatrist increased it by 10 mg per week up to that point. His mood stabilized at 40 mg, but we noticed on about the 5th day of taking 50 mg his compulsions/rituals increased significantly. His mood was still good. We increased to 60mg to stick with the doctor's plan, but the rituals have stayed at the same increased level. My son goes to the psychiatrist tomorrow, and I am anxious to see where he plans to go from here. I do know that the SSRI's are supposed to be used at higher doses for ocd, but also it's different for everyone. I'll be interested to see what the psychiatrist recommends for your daughter on Friday also. Good luck. Guest guest
Hi Jerri, There are assistance programs that will help you with the cost of the tx meds depending which ones you're on. Pegassist for Pegasys etc. I don't have their addresses on hand but I'm sure someone heere has them. I don't know how they'd work for you but when I was on tx they sent a cheque to the pharmacy for my deductable so I only had to pay $2 per prescription. You might try thehepatitisneighbourhood.com - I think they're the company that makes Pegasus. Kathy Boo, do you have that addy? Deb? So I have spend 7 days fighting between the insurance co and all of my doc's and finally get my ribivarin approved (just as I ran out of pills). I was also informed that I was finally approved for my Procrit. Which I have to start due to anemia (they reduced my ribavarin until I can get my anemia under control. So I think all is great.I call the pharmacy to arrange a time to pick up my Procrit (it's a new pharmacy and they will also be getting me my Pegasus) and the pharmacist says okay just bring in your co pay tomorrow when you come in to pick up your meds.I said that I never had a co pay before on my Pegasus and he says that now I do and it is $480.00 a month. Also my Procrit is $680.00 per month. That is a shock since the past three months my Pegasus has been free.Has anyone else come across these issues. I will be calling my insurance co again in the morning but the stress is not helping. I will come up with the money someway if I have to to pay for my treatment as I refuse to guit but dang.......Glad that I have this avenue to vent. Guest guest
Jeannie, I can't stand those people! At first, I tried to get people to understand that I wish I wasn't in this condition, blah, blah, blah. But now I think who cares what they think. I've come up with a response for that sort of thing. " You know, funny you mention that, because when I first saw you, I wouldn't have guessed you were so stupid and rude! " Then go on about your business. My child has Asperger's Syndrome, a high functioing form of autism. He is small, and very talkative, often about things other people aren't interested in, but he sounds like a little professor, giving lectures about his special interest when he meets someone new. And he looks like a typical kid, there are no visible signs of a disability. A grown man in the book store asked him how old he was, because he sounds so well-versed. Then when e told him, he said I don't believe somebody as small as you is 10 years old. e walked away with his head hanging. I lunged at that man and said, " I don't believe anyone as grown up as you can be so stupid. Did you decide when you left home you felt like ruining a kid's self-esteem, or was it a spontaneous thing? " He left with his head hanging. People who judge others by first sight don't deserve any more than that from us! Dee P.S. How is your skin feeling? --------------------------------- Everyone is raving about the all-new beta. Guest guest
Rob, I find most people are judging us, it's not just you being pessimistic. Like the thing with the handicap parking- Many times I've heard people say that somebody will stop and tell them something about not being in a wheelchair and using a blue space. Nobody can see heart problems, lung problems ,or spine problems that require short walk distances. I think a good percentage of people are mean. I say that from all my life experiences, including how some nurses talked about patients behind their backs and to their faces! Dee --------------------------------- Never miss an email again! Guest guest
Hi Dee, Wish I had your ability to come up with quick replies to stupid peoples remarks-I just freeze, and think " Did they really just say that? " and there goes the opportunity. I usually come up with a great answer when I'm trying to fall asleep, but can't because I let some idiot ruin my day. I know it takes time, and I'm lucky to not have a life-threatening disease. I miss the interaction that I had at work with my friends and " customers " -I worked in a small casino where we had the same people come and gamble, day after day, you got to know them and their families-I miss being around people. So you all have become like a mini -family to me. I just have to give it more time, and get out of my pity-party mode. My skin is not quite so itchy, I got a large jar of Aquaphor-rather pricey, but I need to cover a large area of my body with it, and i use the humidifier at nite. It's just so strange, I'm on no new meds, and have been living in Vegas off and on for 30 years. Even my scalp itches, but no dandruff or flakes appear. I can't wait for Spring! Guest guest
Hi Jeannie I am sorry the guy was such a jerk to you. I get those looks too when I park in a handicapped spot sometimes till they see my cane then they usually back off. But I've had the comments too. One idea that came to my mind was ask whoever says something to you next time " can you see a broken bone without an xray all the time? " then say " well you can't always see how a person is disabled either " and leave it at that. Might make them think next time before they put their foot in their mouth again. I wish people were more sensitive to those of us who don't always look like we need a wheelchair, cane or some assistance from someone all the time. I mean I rarely leave the house, go to the store or anywhere except to my pain dr appt once a month, then if I feel up to it I try to do at least one thing while I am out. I may do OK that one day but thats about all I can handle and that I usually pay for the rest of the week. But that one day I feel free, like my old self at least for a little while. So I try and ignore " Stupid " people like that guy but I know there are many others out there like him. Sad but true. Makes me want to wear a tshirt that says something that will shut them up before they start. Actually I keep toying with the idea of making up some for the group. I asked my daughter to work on some designs for them. Maybe one day she will get them done I had a few ideas but if anyone has any please let me know. But my best advice is ignore dumb people like that. Sorry he upset you Jeannie. Sharon Group Owner > > Hi all, > I had an experience the other day I didn't know how to handle. i had to make a trip to the mall, which I usually try to avoid because after walking on cement for just a few minutes will cause a lot of pain later-but this was necessary. I stopped at a cell phone kiosk to ask a qustion about operating my new phone, the guy asked me about my plan, if I knew about discounts available- which was nice. He then asked me what type of work I did, I told him I didn't work, I was disabled-thinking that maybe me being on Social Security would entitle me to a discount. He looked at me and said " You look good for being disabled " ! I didn't know how to take that-it was like he was one of those who thinks you have to be in a wheelchair to be disabled. I've run into people like that before, I'll get weird looks when I pull into a handicap parking spot-I have handicap plates-but people have made rude comments about that too. Guess I shouldn't let it bother me, but i haven't thought of any > good replies to what those idiots say. > I did end up getting a discount, my husband is a disabled vet, but I did take offense at the guy's remark. Guest guest
Dear D, I have been in the same boat you are in, and actually I am in and out of it. One of the things I do that helps me is I get a piece of paper and write down the good things in my life. Have you tried yoga and meditation? And even if you don't feel like doing LL just watch Rashelle and I bet you will start feeling better! I also love positive phrases, this one helps me so much.........I am calm, I am capable , I am strong,,I have enough, I am enough, I am Gods child and He hears my voice and knows my name. Guest guest
Hi D, If you are doing LifeLift and finding yourself still getting heavier you should seriously look at your liver function. There are several sites to help with this. http://www.liverdoctor.com Or my new favorite http://www.ultrawellness.com/programs/ultrasimplediet both sites address the liver and how to cleanse it through diet. Also explain how a few simple changes will help the liver do what it is supposed to do, move fat out of the body. If the liver isn't working properly, then no matter what you do, you will struggle with weight. Again, if LifeLift isn't helping, take a few minutes to poke around the UltraWellness site or the liverdoctor site. I own every single one of the books on both sites. I have tried both programs and like I said, I prefer the ultrasimplediet program. I just put my daughter (16) on it for a week and she dropped 10 pounds and now understands how powerful the food that goes into your mouth can be on your body. Hope this helps, Karma Frustrated Due to health issues beyond my control, I'm now heavier than I have ever been. I am just plain fat. It is ugly and I want to cry. I've also fallen off the LifeLift wagon. I need to do my 40 breaths a day. I just feel so overwhelmed, I don't even know where to start. I want to be stronger, it is not so much about losing weight as it is about feeling strong again. At least for me. I'm wondering if I should do more than 40 breaths a day...just me thinking out loud. And hopefully posting to this group will help me stay accountable to myself. D
Guest guest
Just an addition to this. http://www.lifelift.net:80/newsletters/19.shtml? Rashelle talks of the Liver and the importance of cleansing if you aren't losing by just doing Life Lift Breaths. She gives her recipe for a great liver cleansing soup. Now you have three great sources to learn how to cleanse your liver through daily activities. For a faster cleanse, one that I have done many times go here for the recipe. http://www.curezone.com/cleanse/liver/huldas_recipe.asp Hope this helps, Karma > > Hi D, > If you are doing LifeLift and finding yourself still getting heavier you should seriously look at your liver function.
