Guest guest
Hi Coni, Sugar cravings are again linked to liver in that if it is functioning at it's peak, blood sugar is in check and the sugar cravings are pretty much non existent. Sugar cravings is specifically why my choice of foods are what they are and they are liver cleansing. :-) I can tell if I have wavered off the liver cleansing foods too much by my sugar cravings. :-) If you do nothing else, invest in a good pro-biotiotic, digestive enzymes and add Milk Thistle to your diet. Just these few changes usually make a pretty good difference in the sugar cravings. Also, watch your bowel function. That can also effect sugar cravings. If you haven't had a movement by 10:00 am every day, something should be done about that. Increase the probiotics, take a supplement to help the bowel move more often until it can heal and work properly. Rashelle has a product on her site that she has used for years, I have also used and works great to help with belly fat and regulating the colon as is should be http://www.oxygenlift.net/inc/sdetail/4127 If you aren't sure about what probiotic to get, again, Rashelle has a product on her site that covers it and actually goes a bit beyond the probiotic. http://www.oxygenlift.net/inc/sdetail/10463 Again, Hope this helps, Karma Frustrated > > > > > > Due to health issues beyond my control, I'm now > heavier than I > have > > ever been. Guest guest
Thank you Karma, I am going to her site today and check this out. I have IBS the kind that is diarreah, I am always willing to try new things if it is endorsed and used by people I trust as I do you and Rashelle and the wonderful women of this group. Thanks for sharing. Coni Frustrated > > > > > > > > > Due to health issues beyond my control, I'm now > > heavier than I > > have > > > ever been. I am just plain fat. Guest guest
Coni, With the IBS, the probiotics should help a lot. If you get the colon flourishing with the good kind of bacteria found in the probiotics then the IBS might take a backseat to it. Actually the ultrasimple diet site that I gave addresses IBS specifically as I recall. I sure hope these things help you, IBS can be so miserable I'm told. Guest guest
Coni, The link worked when I sent it and I just checked it again and it pulled up. It did take a long time to load up today for some reason. When Rashelle reads the message she will look into the problem I'm sure. :-) She likes her customer service to be above and beyond what anyone else out there offers. :-) Karma Frustrated > > > > > > > > > Due to health issues beyond my control, I'm now > > heavier than I > > have > > > ever been. Guest guest
Hi Coni and Karma, I checked it again and the link works fine. If it still does not work for you go to www.oxygenlift.net and go to the link on the left that says Main Store. When you get to the store scroll down to the link that says Weight Loss, Body Slimming Products + Seaweed Soap. After you click on this link scroll to the bottom of the page and you will find the Herbal Diet Capsules there. They are great. I have used them for many years and I love them. They have a lot of herbs that are loaded with B vitamins so they really help you feel calm and relaxed which of course is good for helping you get rid of belly fat. There is nothing in them to make you feel like you are speeding. They are the only thing I have ever used that really curbs my appetite when I am feeling really hungry. Guest guest
Kristi...When you lose a lot of weight immediately after banding it is mostly water. I suspect that if you are sticking to low calories then what is happening is that your body is losing fat and gaining water back, so you are still going in the right direction. Are you doing moderate exercise? That will help as well.BTW, welcome to bandster hell. ;o) It's the time frame between banding and restriction. With restriction this will be much easier. Keep your protein up and your carbs down. Carbs will make you hungry, protein will stop hunger from happening to begin with for the most part. The time between banding and restriction isn't really designed for weight loss, it's designed for healing. Give yourself time, it will happen. Guest guest
Kristi, We all want to lose weight right off the bat and you've done that...Congratulations on the 19 lbs gone forever...But, remember this is not the stage for you to lose weight, your body is still healing and is probably in starvation mode since it's been given so little and it's been through a lot (surgery)...Your weight loss will really kick in gear when you get your fill...It's like a tire on your car, if the air is out of it you can still drive with it but won't get the long distance and smooth ride you would get if it had air in it...Just hang in there and it will happen for you...Don't push the panic button yet...lol...The fills are the key, as you see the band is no good with out the saline fill... Take care and good luck... Rena DOB:9/26/06 204/139/135Kristi <puffpuff60@...> wrote: I was banded on August 3. I lost 19 pounds almost right off the bat but have not lost an ounce in 10 days. Guest guest
Hi Milena, Take a DEEP Breathe sweetie. Here in the USA we do not have enough Ped Rhuemy's which put's a big strain on those we do have. So we have to look at this situation. What you need to do is call the place and ask for your daughter to be put on the Canceled List. So If someone cancels they will call you and you go to the Ped Rhuemy then. Honestly it does help to keep this going even if she is having a good day or bad day. I myself do not understand the Healthcare system but I do know how to get through it. By putting your child on this list will help keep your June appointment but if another opening is available you have the chance to go on a earlier date. Remember thing's happen and sometimes it can not be avoided. Take a DEEP Breathe and call them. Umm if you go with Private you may encounter the same situation as well. Ped Rhuemys are hard to come by. Robbin **************Biggest Grammy Award surprises of all time on AOL Music. Guest guest
I'm no expert, but ascorbic acid (vitamin C) works wonders on my family. I'm not sure about how to give it to a toddler. My youngest is 14 months and is still nursed as well. I take the ascorbic acid religiously and I " m sure this wonderul vitamin is reaching her through the milk. Check into it. I've bought the powered version and put it when I drink water.... http://www.evenbetternow.com/proddetail.asp?prod=VitCCrystals This website also contains tons of other essential supplements. Good Luck, ~ Frustrated Since most of you don't know my son's history, I'll give a brief recap. Quinn is now 14 months old. He got his first ear infection in May, about 2 weeks after his 4 month shots. He was up to date until then and hasn't received a vaccination since. Long story short, he got 5 ear infections in 5 months and got tubes on Halloween. The day of his 2 week tube check up, he got croup. He wasn't even fully recovered from the croup when he got the flu or pneumonia or something (never was diagnosed for sure) and ended up hospitalized for 2 days for dehydration. He got out of the hospital the beginning of December and has had a sinus infection, mild ear infection, ear infection and several colds since. He has been sick more than he's been well. He started running a fever last Friday night that lasted through the weekend. On Tuesday, I finally gave in and took him to the doctor. He said he had a bacterial infection and prescribed him Zithromax (for the 4th time in his short life). After 2 doses of the Zithromax, he now has an ear infection. I know he does because of the pus draining from his ear. I use several " alternatives " to medicine, including Echinachea (sp?), Probiotics, and Colloidal Silver and am getting involved in energy medicine to help alleviate some of these issues. We have a NAET practioner as well, but we can't push forward with our NAET treatments until he's well again. Quinn is solely breastfed and stays home with me. He doesn't get any dairy at all, and that's really helped with some of his issues. Here is my first question, besides Colloidal Silver, is there anything that I can use besides antibiotics for a 14 month old that is safe and effective? Also, is there any pain relief that I can give him besides Tylenol or Ibuprofen? I am sooo sick of medicating this child, but I cannot watch him suffer. If it's a choice between Tylenol or suffering, I choose Tylenol. This week at the doctor, I did have a fit and may have finally gotten an answer about his constant sickness. I told him, through my tears, that I don't feel that this is normal and that something is wrong with him. He disagreed and said that he could name 10 other babies off the top of his head that are sick a lot. I said that didn't make me feel better, but worse for the moms and babies that are suffering without answers, just like we are. He still said it was normal. I told him that if he wouldn't listen to me, I would have to find a pediatrician who did. I like him a lot and think he's great with my kids, but what good is he if he won't listen to a mother? Finally he said that there is a common immune disorder called Common Variable Immunodeficiency that, judging by Quinn's symptoms, he may have it. It's a matter of a simple bloodtest to diagnose, but we have to wait until he's well to do it. So, we go back in a month to test for it and any other immune deficiencies. Not that I want something to be wrong with my son, because I very, very much don't, but I am happy to know that there is something we can test for and many of the milder immune deficiencies are treatable. If anyone knows anything about immune deficiencies and natural treatments, that would be great too. I have no doubt he has an immune deficiency, how could he not? He's been sick for almost a full year now. I feel just awful for my poor baby and will do whatever it takes to get him better. I'm sorry this is so long, but I figure someone here may know something that I don't. I just can't keep watching him suffer and medicating to make it better. Thank you for your replies. ~Jerinda ________________________________________________________________________________\ ____ Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Mobile. Guest guest
Hi Jerinda, I'm sorry to hear about your little one. I think besides the probiotic, try 1/2 tsp high vitamin cod liver oil every day(Dr. Ron's is what I use.) Extra daily vitamin C too would be good. I used to suffer through ear infections as a child so I know what your son is going through. I heard that a little breast milk in the ear may help and I know from experience a little extra virgin coconut oil helps too. There are stronger antibacterials like tea tree oil, but that might sting really bad. I would try to eliminate glutens, yeasts, and actually most grains and all sugars for a while, since medications can bring on a candida problem. I would also try feeding him about 3 tsps coconut oil every day. Try not to use colloidal silver too much, I think it can become harmful. I give my son high vitamin foods every day, like avocados which are loaded with vitamins, liver also has a lot of vitamin C and A (especially chicken,) butter, eggs, fruits and veggies. As far as pain relief goes, I don't know much about homeopathy, but I think arnica and chamomille would be good. Hope this helps. Guest guest
Hi, We all take ascorbic acid with 1 ounce of orange juice. It just makes the juice have a little pucker power. I know friends who give it to their kids with apple juice and they don’t even notice. When are sick you should really up the does of it. My 3 year old has been taking it along with her other supplements since she was 18 months. Started out with 1/8 tsp when she was healthy and then if she had any other symptoms (tired, more clingy, more grumpy, sneezing, coughing, anything) then we upped the dose to at least ¾ tsp. But given in 1/8 tsp increments. If he is really sick then putting it into apple sauce works well. I also up her probiotic amount to at least double the amount. Jarrowdolphis is considered the best OTC brand and I started my kids on it when they were 18 months. We now use Klaires brand but we can only get it through our holistic PD. Guest guest
Hi, Jerinda. I have to disagree with your doctor about this being normal. He's confusing it with it being common. There's a difference. That said, there is a light at the end of the tunnel. You can build up your son's immune system and he can get over this. I've been there. Here's what I would do (and have): a great natural antibiotic that I give my family is Larix. You can get it in a powdered form that easily mixes into juice. I mix it in Emergen-C, which is a powdered Vit. C that you add water, too. Some kids don't like the fizziness so another way to give Vit. C is a liquid form. Twin Labs makes one that my kids always would take. Another supplement I give is quercetin. It comes in capsules which obviously your son can't swallow yet so you can mix it in applesauce or in mushed bananas. Some brands are too bitter because they have Vit. C in them. My son will tolerate Solgar quercetin. My naturopath has it without the C so it is made--I just can't find it in the stores. Quercetin is excellent for allergies, and chest colds--fights inflammation. For homeopathy, you could try belladonna or pulsatilla. If you have to choose between Tylenol and Advil, I'd go with the Advil because it reduces pain by reducing inflammation. Tylenol does not. But I don't recommend either over homeopathy. Keep the faith--this will pass. Winnie Frustrated Vaccinations > Since most of you don't know my son's history, I'll give a brief > recap. > > Quinn is now 14 months old. Guest guest
Och, poor you. And poor Quinn. I have known people to have amazing, just amazing, success for ear infections by taking the little person to a chiro that does children. Chronic infections stopping forever after two weeks of draining, that kind of thing. This may help his whole head drain fully and properly, which is does not sound like it is doing. If the mucus hangs around, bad things happen that might not if the mucus were not available to incubate, KWIM? This sounds allergy based to me, in that it seems he is never truly well because something is assaulting his system all the time. Not illness, that comes because the assault leaves him ready to be really sick again. Rather than the CS and Echinacea, which are beneficial but still need to be processed by the system and his little systems seems to have more than it needs already, I might seek out an allergist. I used Hylands and a Bach thing, oh what is it? Arrgh. It's a name, rather than naming what's in it (Not " Jasmine " , for example, but " Mystery Medicine " or something.). I had a brain once, really. I'll send it to you when I think of it. You need to learn what causes sickness in the first place and how to detox the body. Guest guest
Hi Rena, Well, I've found that GSE is difficult to administer to my children, it tastes terrible to them, even mixed with fruit juice...they sense the taste and reject it. Since the skin is our largest organ, whatever we put on our skin absorbs into the body-right? When the kids are in the bath, their pores are open, so it becomes quite easy to administer this way. It's always my first defense when there's a cold in the house. I let them soak as long as they want with about 30-40 drops of GSE, then before they get out I rub them down with coconut oil to seal in the GSE, but more importantly, to protect them from other harmful toxins (ie., bacteria, viruses, fungi, etc) that may overload their immune systems while their bodies are trying to combat the illness. It works for diaper rash for babies in the bathtub too, or when I was potty training and the kids didn't wipe as well as they should, sometimes a little rash will form and a good soaking will heal this very quickly. It's my cure-all!!! Peace, Kris > > Hi Kris, > I was wondering why you put the drops in your kids baths? Guest guest
I am so sorry to hear that he is not feeling any better. We have been going through this with Abi for 5 months. I know that it seems like it will never end and it will feel that way for a while. I know how frustrated u are and just know that things will eventually look up. Abi went through motrin, naprosyn, mobic back to motrin. Now she is on motrin, mtx and we just started prednisone. Her joints are still swollen, warm and tender to touch. Just know that there are people here that have been through this and will be here for u to vent to. Trust me we all need that. Abi 3 systemickjviers3 <jlviers@...> wrote: Hi again, my name is and my 4 yr old, , was just diagnosed 2 weeks ago. He has had symptoms for nearly 2 years. Well it seems that the naprosyn is not working very well. His knees and his right ankle were really swollen and painful this weekend. He also fell asleep very early 6:30 pm and slept to nearly 11 am every day. It just seems that since we got the diagnosis he is getting worse. I was so hopeful that being on medication would help him to feel better. The ped rheumy said that we have to wait at least 6 weeks on the naprosyn before they will try anything else. This is so frustrating.
