I was unable to get my disability until I was denied x 2. I know how you feel, people think just because you don't look sick you aren't sick our in pain. I learned to let it go & let GOD take it. But in the beginning all the tests & medication changes trying to get things right it was really tough to take comments from my family. We don't have to explain anything to anyone. They need to study how bad I was back in 2002 / 2003 before doing anything else. I've been denied twice, had the file suspended, lost reopened and had my Senator assist in reopening the case. Unfortunately, it is NOT easy to get. I finally got mine last year after 2 1/2 years of fighting, turned down twice, and finally got an attorney and went to court. I don't know if they make it so hard hoping people will just give up or what their reasons are, but don't give up,.....keep fighting. When I hired my attorney she told me approximately 95% of people were denied the first time, 90% the second, and it usually took going to court to get it approved. This was in Texas, and I know it's different in every state. But she also told me I had to get my doctors to "champion" me, in other words, get behind me and support me with documentation/letters/tests, etc. Don't give up, keep fighting, I know we all hate to hire the attorney, because then they get a cut of the back pay.....but there is a cap on how much they can get and it's still better than not getting anything at all. I hope I haven't misinterpreted what this conversation was about and if I did, I apologize. If I didn't, get out there and fight for yourself. None of us feel like it, but we have to do this to survive. You can do it, and you have this wonderful support group to back you up when you need to vent or need suggestions. Don't give up, that's what they (the gov't wants you to do. Get those gloves on and come back fighting, you are fighting for your life and you need to win, and you will if you persist. The way they were able to take away everything from from Florida and Michigan in order to have Obama be able to be the winner of the Democratic party who wasn't even on Florida's primary ball. Yesterday, I filled out and plan to mail an application to change my party to Independant. If is listed on the ticket as VP means nothing to me as I'm planning to write in Clinton as President. Social Security needs a lot of reform so the people who need it will have it instead of the manner presently run. I'm depressed due to the manner in which I've been treated by social security since 2002 2003, not a drug addict and my health is failing this past year. I was born in the US in Pennsylvania and raised in Florida. The way they were able to take away everything from from Florida and Michigan in order to have Obama be able to be the winner of the Democratic party who wasn't even on Florida's primary ball.
