Guest guest
Hi Cara, Some time ago I read through the notes of the meetings of a dutch electro-allergy/mcs group. Made a list of the suggestions offered, which i thought i had posted here (guess i posted instead of sent again). Will try and find that site back. In the mean time I remember they suggested rice water for stomach pains. Also tea of the thingies between the walnuts (about five for a cup)// Not sure what your usual remedies are, but there are some digestive teas that work very well. I also used colon cleanse of pal, which was a mild way to help with digestion. Like Mark said apple juice and apple cider vinegar will dissolve stones, soften them so there is less pain. I know you have already had the gallbladder removed, as you know there is no use in regretting things from the past, and no mistakes that cannot be undone. On another dutch site on mcs fibromialgia I read the following exercise. Push arms against the doorposts then relax, to where they might almost come up automatically. Do the same also with the feet, pressing toes up and down as far as possible, at the same time use as many as you face muscles (comes down to pulling funny faces). Then lay on your stomach. Without putting too much strain on neck (support with your hands) lift up legs as far a possible (or make a birds nest). All these untill you cannot anymore. THEN RELAX!!! Gotta go Love and Light Cara <cara_evangelista@...> wrote: Thanks Marc and Ellen. We've been having some bad times over the past 5 weeks, the worst new issue being some pretty bad gastrointestinal pain/flareups, which may have been triggered by a hydrochloric acid supplement recommended by our new doctor. One of the attacks was so bad we ended up in the ER for 12 hours. Tried all the usual remedies with no effect, so my husband had his stomach scoped today, and we'll see the biopsy results in about a week. (As if the chronic digestive issues weren't bad enough...) On the plus side of things, we continue to have good luck with our own nutritional supplement program -- mostly stuff recommended by folks on . My husband is needing less and less of the prescription sleep meds he has taken for years to achieve the same amount/quality of sleep. One question. Do you guys have any thoughts on whether supplements like milk thistle might have the effect of releasing or dislodging stones from the liver? My husband's pain feels very similar to a gall bladder attack. I've read descriptions here of the stones released during a liver flush, and I'm wondering whether the attacks we're seeing now are related to stones released by " detox " from milk thistle. Does this sound completely off base? Cara ---------------------------------

Guest guest
Hello Sue, One of the most effective ways to detox the liver is a sensible diet , lots of plain water and avoiding any sugar and alcohol. That in itself will have an amazing effect. But in addition taking Milk Thistle (any healthfood shop) can be a great help if your liver were compromised from excessive medication or stress. http://www.ahrq.gov/clinic/epcsums/milktsum.htm Hope this helps,
Guest guest
What said lol Also I would avoid taking any special stuff or doing any of these Detox protocols, I did and I got shingles out of it, it must have caused an imbalance in something. We shouldn't really need to detox if we are sensible with what we eat and drink, our bodies know what they are doing. That is my belief anyway I think this natural medicine drive can go too far just like the mainstream one and cause harm. lotsa luv Dawnx
Guest guest
Dr M has an interesting leaflet on this. She promotes good nutrients, lowering the chemical load and using an Infra red sauna to sweat any toxins out. Or if you are well enough to exercise you would detox that way by sweating and then taking a shower. http://www.drmyhill.co.uk/article.cfm?id=368 I do have this sauna for my daughter with CFS, having read Dr M advice again I realise I should be using it as well. Guest guest
***Does anybody know if hypothyroid patients doing a liver detox would affect the conversion of thyroxine (T4) to triiodothyronine (T3)? I can't say this categorically, Sheila, but I would assume that a liver detox can only help with the T4/T3 conversion, given that much of the conversion takes place in the liver, and a clean liver works best. If the liver were "stuffed" (as one Australian doctor charmingly put it when he diagnosed me with systemic Candida) it would have a knock-on effect on just about any other bodily function. Many of us hypothyroidians suffer from Candida and/or excessive stress - both fills our livers with toxins. I don't know of other methods to "drain" the liver, but the natural way ... which means good diet, lots of water, lots of antioxidants like Vit C and a high doses of Q10 .... and if that is not enough, then a course of milk thistle should sort it out, and since Dr. P. recommends all of that for us (bar the milk thistle), I am pretty sure that natural liver detox can't have a negative effect on the T4/T3 conversion. A short story as an aside: 16 years ago whilst living in Australia for a few months, my immune system finally broke down (horrible itchy rash all over my body), and I went to see the doc. He shone a light deep into my eyes and declared - 'your liver is stuffed! - and your eyes are the wrong colour... they should be green!' The latter was news to me, as up to that fateful day my eyes had been dark brown. He prescribed a strict Candida diet to adhere to for 3 months, high Vit C, probiotics and milk thistle ... Can you imagine? Glorious Australian food and wine, and I wasn't allowed any of it !! My heart wept, but I followed doctors orders to the letter - 6 weeks later the colour of my eyes had changed from dark brown to hazel-green and they have stayed like this to the current day. However, I can't hide my sins .... when I succumb to overdoing the chocolate intake once in a while, my irises turn darker .... a couple of weeks of healthy living, and they are light and hazel-green again.... I told Dr. Skinner this story, and he clearly thought I was having him on - but I swear, it is true. Candida had been building up in my body since I was a 3 months old baby, when I nearly died from malabsorption and was kept alive on a glucose drip & pumped full of antibiotics for the next 3 months - a recipe for disaster. All my life I was craving sweets and chocolates and 42 years later my poor battered and overworked liver simply has had enough.....<G> love, xx PS - you asked about the price for a private Bone Density scan, Sheila - I paid £40 and had it done in a "Mobile Screening Services" van... www.mssuk.org Tel 01923 - 857616 - based in Herts, but this service should be available in other parts of the UK too. Guest guest
>> That's an appealing, intriguing story . Have you tried to find out> if there are references to science to show why this should happen? No, I haven't, Sheila. It has never occurred to me to research it. The Australian doctor I saw (and I can't remember his name, it was ..something) specializes on Candida Albicans and has even published a small book, which must be kicking about somewhere in the house, but I can't find it. Anyway, this doctor told me that my body was full of toxins and this was causing my iris to darken, my liver and kidneys could no longer cope and my immune system was on the brink of collapse (hence the itchy rash from head to toe - they call the skin 'the third kidney' for a good reason <G>). He said that he could tell my liver was completely 'stuffed' just from looking at my irises under a bright light. The 'true colour' of my eyes was hiding underneath the toxins somewhere. But since my eye colour up to then had always been brown for as long as I remember, my liver must have been compromised for countless years. It was fascinating to watch the colour of my eyes change. When they were brown, they just looked dark brown all over. Gradually the 'darkness' inside the iris seemed to 'pull back' and manifest itself as a dark 'outer ring' (for want of a better description) and the iris itself got lighter and showed flecks of colour, a mix of amber, light and olive green, giving the overall effect of hazel-green now.... Guest guest
I am currently doing a detox under the supervision of a dentist who is going to change my mercury fillings. For a few weeks beforehand I have to take Co-Enzyme Q10, Lypo-spheric vitamin C, high dosage vitamin A, Udo's Oil, and some supplements from a company called Nature's Sunshine: Metal Detox, Mega-Chel, Milk Thistle and Food Enzymes. There are other chelators called OSR and IMD which he said were expensive, so we're seeing if we can get good enough results without them. He said most chlorella was contaminated with mercury, so didn't recommend it. For a sauna, he recommended a Near Infra Red lamp rather than the Far Infra Red one. I am not going to bother with a sauna because I don't sweat easily and past experience has shown me that even a FIR sauna is a waste of time. Maybe this inability to sweat is partly how I ended up with a heavy metals problem? After the extractions I'll have to do a series of Vitamin C " Flushes " to ensure heavy metals don't remain in the digestive tract, but are fully eliminated. Detoxing takes part in 4 stages - first at the cellular level, then the liver, then the gall-bladder, and finally the gut. I'm also going to be taking glutathione afterwards which should help prevent reabsorption from the gut and support the liver. He also recommended probiotics and charcoal tablets. I had a series of lab tests done to check my current level of health and they are going to be repeated in 6 months time to see what progress has been made. I am having to go even more low carb than usual because my trigycerides were too high, so diet is part of the detoxing. I'll let you know (in quite some time!) whether this regime does any good. He is a gem and well worth travelling to. Patients flog to him from far afield. I found this man after my own now ex-dentist told me he would not remove my amalgam fillings as there was "nothing wrong with them" .... glad he did, coz this is how I found Gareth http://www.holisticdentalcentre.co.uk/ but the downside is - it's all private.... Milk thistle stimulates the liver and gallbladder activity and as a result can create slight diarrhoea, upset stomach, nausea, headaches or skin rashes ... all those symptoms are known with detox (Herxheimer). If you had Candida, for instance, toxins (yeast) will colonize in the intestines. The milk thistle would flush out the toxins from the liver and activate the bile flow - and I wonder if this action could set off some kind of fermenting process when the toxins are passing through the intestines, which might account for the wind ? I don't know this to be the case ... just thinking aloud.

Guest guest
If you can't find one off that list you might find one indirectly via the British Society for Ecological Medicine: http://www.ecomed.org.uk/ I go to a doctor from this group and she recommended the dentist. Guest guest
Hi Sue I have used a herbal liver cleanse from Humaworm with quite fabulous results, (note: you are supposed to do some other cleanses first to prepare the liver before the Liver herbs.) http://www.humaworm.com/other.html Castor oil packs are also very good for the liver. Google it for instructions, but the quick explanation is 3 castor oil packs in 3 days and after the third drink one inch of olive oil. A very civilised way to detox the liver, but you need to do a lot of them. I've done about 50. Hot water bottle for the heat works perfectly well and make sure you get decent castor oil, organic. Milk Thistle is very good for liver support and widely recommended. Less well know is Taurine. I had better results with Taurine, but both work fine, but its a small help for the liver and is effective over the longer term. You can also do something called Liver Flushing, with epsom salts, grapefruit juice and olive oil....but be warned: it is heardcore, heavy duty and you should do other things before attempting a liver flush. It is not recommended for mercury toxic people....like me...i survived, but would not do them again. Good luck Sunshine > > hi everyone > can anyone offer any advice on this subject please > spoke to someone who had a friend who saw a herbalist with great > results making her thyroid fuction so much better > i am raising my armour and hc slowly and dont want jeopardise > this regime i am on at this time as it seems like a lifetime since i > have felt well >
Guest guest
> There is an alternative diagnostic called iridology- maybe this would be useful to see what that says about the liver and changes. I have noticed that my green eyes have more brown flecks when I'm not well. Thanks for that . I googled iridology, and it looks interesting. Had to laugh though about the following comments from "The Sceptical Dictionary" .... In fact, when iridologists have been tested to see if they could distinguish healthy from sick people by looking at slides of their eyes, they have failed. In a study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association (1979, vol. 242, 1385-1387), three iridologists incorrectly identified nearly all of the study slides of the irises of 143 healthy and diseased people. "In fact, they often read the irises of the sickest people as being healthy and vice versa. They did not even agree with each other." Well, that's sceptical all right ;o). Still, I believe there is something in this science (if it is a science). You can diagnose weak areas of the body via reflexology and other alternative methods - so why not the eyes? Will be heading to a mirror in a minute to check out my thyroid ;o) - see below.... Others completed the map of the eye. A typical map divides the eye into sections, using the image of a clock face as a base. So, for example, if you want to know the condition of a patient's thyroid gland, you need not touch the patient to feel for any enlargement of the gland. Nor do you need to do any tests of the gland itself. All you need to do is look in the iris of the right eye at about 2:30 and the iris of the left eye at about 9:30. Discolorations, flecks, streaks, etc. in those parts of the eyes are all you need concern yourself with, if it is the condition of the thyroid you wish to know. For problems with the vagina or penis, look at 5 o'clock in the right eye. And so on. An iridologist can do an examination with nothing more than an iridology map, a magnifying glass, and a flashlight. xx

Guest guest
I am just doing what the dentist says. He is following a well respected protocol. Don't ask me to explain all the ins and outs of it. Besides, maybe the idea is to mobilise it all?
