Guest guest
Taryn Oh believe me I think we all go through that phase of thinking it won't work for us and we are going to be the one it won't work on. I have been losing in pounds wise slowly but you know when I measured myself I have lost 12 inches off my body. Also I can tell by the way me clothes are fitting as they are getting loose in the thighs then they were before. But just give it time and it will start coming off again. April Ontario Canada 6/30/04 Dr. Rutledge/Dr. Doroghazi Bay City, Mi. 272/248 (=';'=) Re: Re: Constipation Thanks for everyones suggestions... You know I probably am not getting enough liquids... Im going to have to mix gatorade with 1/2 water and choke it down I guess because obviously I have to have it (ive been a little fatigued also) ... Ive lost 12lbs already... Now that I look back though I wish I wouldnt of told anyone about it (I told everyone about my surgery) because now everyday my co workers come up to me... " so how much weight have you lost " and its disheartning to say 12lbs 3 days in a row " still 12lbs " I mean I'm exstatic about that but when they ask everyday and it doesnt change for 3 days it gets me scared that its not going to work for me... Am I psycho or did anyone else have a " disbelief " phase??? Anyways, I will try more gatorade and see if that doesnt " thin things out " LOL thanks, Taryn kbaleez <Baleez@...> wrote:Also, at only 1 1/2 weeks out, make sure you are getting enough liquid--I know it's hard (no pun intended). Guest guest
We have had great success with Colosan, and would highly recommend the product. You can search the Internet for information on this product, and can also order this directly from the company at 1-800-284-6263. Colosan is a white power of oxides of magnesium. One teaspoon is taken in 8 ounces of water, followed by the juice of 1/2 lemon. The lemon and stomach hydrochloric acid release the oxygen from the compound into the digestive tract. This completely cleanses the colon and small intestine as well. We have found twice per day (morning and evening) for about 3-4 days will completely cleanse the system. This is very gentle and has some advantages over laxatives. This also alkalizes. Guest guest
Vitamin C can do a job on your intestines. You can try magnesium. Start with two tabs and work your way up. That will get the ball rolling. But it's not the cure. is Rotella, M.Ac., Arnold, Md. > lots of vitamin c > Constipation > > > Hello group. > Any protocol recommendations for constipation? > > Thank > > > > > > ............................................ > >
Guest guest
If Colosan alkalizes, then would it not be appropriate for someone with high alkalinity? is Rotella, M.Ac., Arnold, md. > > lots of vitamin c > > Constipation > > > > > > Hello group. > > Any protocol recommendations for constipation? > > > > Thank
Guest guest
Dr. Doroghazi (the MGB doctor in Bay City) told me I could take the Milk of Magnesium for constipation. Whatever you do don't wait. I got so constipated all the time from the Pepto that I wound up with hemorrhoids! 2/17/04 Constipation Hello, I haven't been on in a while. But I am having a problem and wanted to see if anyone else has had similar. I had my MGB on July 6, 2004. I am just now a little over six months out and have lost 100 pounds. I am very happy with the results. However, Dr. H put me on a prev pac to treat for bacteria or HPylori since I cannot seem to get off of Nexium. When I stop taking it, within a couple of days, I have a lot of burning and some pain, mostly discomfort in my stomach. I am almost done with the two week treatment. But now I am severely constipated. I used to have a problem with constipation prior to surgery but have been nice and regular since surgery until now. It got so bad two days ago, I had to go the ER and have a special enema to break everything up. Luckily it worked, they did not have to physically go in to break it up. I know thats sounds gross, but it is very scary thing. But here it is Tuesday and I haven't gone since the hospital on Saturday. My primary care dr prescibed a powder called Merrilac, but it isn't helping either. I have a call into Dr H, but I was wondering if any others of you have had this problem. I would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks, Jackie H Dr H 7/6/04 259/
Guest guest
Jackie, I had my MGB on 5/6/04 and for the first 3 or 4 months had a terrible time with constipation. I took all sorts of stool softeners and had to take Milk of Mag every week or so. I even stopped taking Citrucel thinking that might help. I was really desperate. I finally began to pay close attention to the amount of fluids I was getting in and realized that I was not drinking as much as 64 oz daily. Once I increased my intake things got a lot better. I even started taking my citrucel again and had no problems until last week. I again took some MOM and things seem to be ok now. I don't know if that is your problem or not, but I sure do sympathize with you. There is nothing that can make you more miserable. I have not had near the positive weight loss results that you have, but am certainly thankful that the constipation problem is better. I even drank apple and prune juice and ate prunes daily, but I think the real deal was the amount of fluid intake. Sure hope things are better for you soon and congratulations on your weight loss. Guest guest
Jackie H-- I don't know if your constipation is related to the treatment for H. Pylori or not, but I had problems with constipation as well. I finally found that I needed to greatly increase the amount of fiber I was eating + I added some additional fat. I eat bran buds in the morning, I usually have some sort of legumes (beans) at least once/day, plenty of vegetables and whole grains. That's done the trick for me. Good luck. Guest guest
Is your citrucel not working? You might try Milk of Magnesia like we had to take prior to surgery - Boy that really cleaned me out! Good luck and I hope it works out for you. Guest guest
Hi, Depending upon several other things consider the following for Rx of constipation: Much higher fiber foods and increased fluid (water and or Gatorade) Occasional Magnesium (as wither pills or MOM or MagCitrate) If you would also like additional weight loss you can consider a prescription for Xenical (orlistat) the weight loss medication. Xenical works by blocking fat absorption and digestion. => this means fat in your diet is left in the gut and acts as if you had taken mineral oil (so be careful) => It works in about one day and you can use it forever => Until you are sure of the dose in you take only one tablet per day for one or two days and then stop. => For weight loss the dose is 120 mg three times per day. PPS: If you interested in loosing additional weight I recommend the " FAX Diet " (My trade mark) Fiber And Xenical 1. Fiber capsules (mix Metamucil and Citrucel) 50 per day, start at 3 per day and build up SLOWLY. 2. Xenical 1 capsule three times / day, start at one capsule per week and build up slowly. Guest guest
Dr. Rutledge, I read your post regarding constipation and xenical. I do not have constipation issues but would like to take off 15 - 20 lbs, which does not come off with diet and exercise. I don't know if my pcp will prescribe this. Is it safe and effective? Guest guest
This doesn't make an awful lot of sense to me - [ but then I was always taught that the answer to constipation was fibre] but I have only suffered any constipation on this diet when I've cheated and had something with gluten in it. For me it is the carbs which cause it seemingly. At the moment I am having no carbs and precious little fruit and have no problems. hth ) http://www.freewebs.com/inspire/

I have to agree. I had always been told the fiber myth too but ample portions of protein and fat keep me very regular. If I eat bread or pasta, I become a rock maker even if I do take a Deflect. Guest guest
Could ya'll use something called Benifiber on a daily basis? It is okay not like metimucil---it is okay in plain water or juice or to mix it in food and then also now comes in tablets or chewables. Very gentle. It regulates it where it isn't to watery or constipated. Remember to drink all your water. Catmama Click here to donate to the Hurricane Katrina relief effort.
