Hi Judy, The advice of 1/2 a cup a day to start with for your Mother to drink would have been fine. Your Mum must have liked the KT, it seems, but drinking too much at the beginning very often causes a nauseous reaction, some folk come out in rashes. That is nothing unusual. It's called a 'healing crisis'. However, a very important question here: How much water does your Mother drink during the day? Water is an absolute must whether you drink Kombucha or not. Kombucha is diuretic (draws extra water out of the body) and leaves you dehydrated unless you put water back in. If your Mum didn't get enough water the detox symptoms would be much worse. Tea, coffee and other diuretic drinks don't count as 'water'. Preach water to your Mum. It's a life style that often needs deliberately practising. An average adult human is supposed to drink about 1 1/2 litres of water per day (about 6 American cups). I try to get this routine established myself (and I don't find it easy!) by putting a labelled bottle aside with name on (your mother's name on) a bottle that holds approx the amount of water she needs to drink. It's easy then to see, whether she is meeting her target. Another point, it is important to take any medicine at about 2 hours' distance from drinking Kombucha that the Kombucha will not interfere with the drugs your mother takes. Hope that helps. kombuchaly, Margret:-) -- +---------------------------------------------------------------+ Minstrel@... www.therpc.f9.co.uk +---------------------------------------------------------------+ Carpenter of Nazareth requires joiners ... Guest guest
Hi Margret, Thank you very much for the advice. I don't know how much water she drinks, it's not my mother, it's my friend's mother, but I will find out and make sure she drinks more. Judy > > > Hi Gang, > > I have another question. Guest guest
Good morning, Judy was talking about my mother. These are the meds she takes. Lipitor 10 mg. and Allegra-D. I told her to start out with 2 oz. a day for about a week, but " mom's know best " and that first day she tried to drink another 2 oz. about 4-5 hours later. The first 2 oz., she was fine, but the 2nd 2 oz she had drank about 1 oz. of it and got sick to her stomach. The next day she tried only an oz. and got a upset stomach, about 30 mins after she drank it. The first day was with food, the second day was on an empty stomach. As for her water intake she already drinks 4 - 6 10 oz. glasses per day. > Hi Gang, > I have another question. Guest guest
Hi , It's about time you put your 2 cents in:o) Read the posts on water and also about drug interactions from Bev, they are very interesting. Side effects are caused by drugs, not by foods and the posts about nausea being caused by not enough water I believe. Whenever I have a problem with my stomach I drink water and it goes away. Guest guest
Hello and all. I took Allegra last year for just a short while and also experienced nosebleeds so I threw them out! Guest guest
After reading all those side effects, I can't believe anyone would actually take this junk. It's dangerous to have too low cholesterol to start with. But then, after all I've read about what the drug companies do to get us to take their drugs, it's no wonder everyone is brainwashed. Guest guest
When used as prescribed, prescription drugs kill more people than terrorism, car accidents, AIDS and street drugs combined.
