So when we eat pork we have to do double the work detoxing because our bodies have to work at detoxing their waste/toxins in addition to our own.....or something very similar to that. She said that is was no coincidence so many cultures/religions/groups absolutely abstain from consuming it. We also have several close friends that consciously stay away from all types of pork as well. +++Hi Jenna. It is true that pigs do not sweat but that doesn't mean their bodies wouldn't detoxify and get rid of their metabolic waste, otherwise pigs couldn't have survived at all. Sweating isn't the only way mammals get rid of waste products. +++One reason pork isn't eaten is because of the Bible, however pigs didn't do well in dry climates like the land/areas lived in during that time because they do not have sweat glands. Cells in animals, including humans, do not select toxins to make up their meats and fats anyway. They select nutrients! Toxins can overload their detoxifying systems, just like they can ours, but they are slaughtered long before they could be unhealthy to consume. > > I get so easily confused when people try to contradict what we choose to eat/not eat and give seemingly logical information to support their reasons - and because it gives my children massive diarrhea, and because of the historical/cultural factor I guess I began to believe this position.....can you please clarify this for me and tell me what research indicates pork to be a safe, and even beneficial, meat source? +++Don't blame good foods for diarrhea or any other reactions, since they are caused by the body itself in efforts to heal and detoxify itself and it is able to do this IF it gets proper nutrients. Even though it seems longer for your children to get healthy, it doesn't mean good foods are bad for them in any way.
