Couple of points to be made if I may

The nice ER beds that do everything are pretty expensive

I never had the luxury of one in the field clinics I have worked in

Definitely need an adjustable head, bed, though

Bed rails are nice

In lieu of that

A couple of belts are good (AlterdMental Status, Seizures etc...)

More often than not

We use the ambulance stretcher as the temporary emergency bed

We regularly kick the clinic bed out

To make room for the ambo stretcher (non platform operation)

Long term, stable Pts

Enjoy a regular bed

Recently got into the habit of strapping the vacuum mattress on the resus bed

I like the idea

worse thing I can think of is

Doing CPR on a soft vac mattress

(Pump remains by the bed side at all times (or suction)

Nigel,

I have never quite understood the use of an examination chair, except in dental

or opthalmic offices, and so have avoided them.

But if you have a bed with an adjustable back rest then that can suffice for the

bed/couch so long as you have a good covering material over the

bedclothes....the interesting part is gambling on whether or not you will only

ever need the one, unless you are admitting only walking wounded.....!

Thank you , always good to hear from you. Are you sure you

don't use the belts for something else?

All the answers that came to my mind

... I sent right back down into the gutter

Otherwise

All you need

Is the single sigh of a suspected seizure

Flipping a hard nose first dive off YOUR gurney

That you start thinking of actual legetimit uses of a belt/Strap/Tie down

I Promise to save for next time the witty salacious replies

I had lined up for you

Hi Jeff,

I think that might depend on the type of book you're reading. Some books are so

interesting they are difficult to put down, while others are so boring you can

barely get through the first page. ;o)

I think it's safe to say that reading is a good way of unwinding after a long

day. It's most likely the lights of the TV that are so stimulating, so that's

why it's suggested to avoid it right before bed.

Happy Reading!

to know your thoughts on reading before bed. On your site it says to avoid

watching tv 30 minutes prior to bed because the tv is very stimulating. Does

reading have the same effects on the brain when trying to fall asleep? Or is

reading okay to do before bed? I searched your site and didn't find anything on

this subject. Thought???
