Can anyone please give me some suggestions for continueing my loss. I ordered the bladderwack from the doc's website and just started it today, but i need more info. pleeeeeeease help. Thanks O+ in NC , Congratulations on your weight loss. I am a type O and had a terrible time losing any weight. And I wish that I only had 20 pounds to lose. However I looked into the I Love Dieting Program and it is wonderful. I have lost almost 30 pounds in seven weeks, even with surgery and a general anesthetic which really threw off my system for a couple of weeks. I am eating tons of food and have never been able to eat all that I am allowed. It is a healthy program and I am able to remain ER compliant for my type. And I know for the first time in my life, that when this weight is gone, it will be gone for good. My system is becoming balanced and handling all that I eat properly. If you are interested go to the I Love Dieting website below for more information. Use " diet " and " diet " for the passwords. Order the tape and booklet and when you get it, I will be happy to answer any of your questions or help you out all I can. Guest guest
I'm also new to the group, am about to start changing my diet (type O), and am concerned about the red meat in the " highly beneficial " list. I haven't eaten red meat in over 20 years, however I do eat poultry and fish/seafood. Will it still work for me? Also, in looking at the ILD web site, I noticed you must use Shaklee products to do this. Whenever I've been on a strict regimen for whatever " diet " , it's fine. It's after I get off and have to eat normal food that my weight reverts. How can the ILD work with ER4YT? I don't understand. Should I lurk in the group for awhile and " all will become clear " ? Guest guest
I too am O. I had almost completely eliminated the red meat from my diet for years because I thought that was what was upsetting my stomach. When I went on the ILD, I was hesitant about all that red meat. Guess what, as it turned out, it wasn't the red meat that was bothering my stomach - it was the potatoes, etc. that I had with the meat. Maybe you will need to incorporate red meat slowly back into your diet. Obviously you can eat the neutrals, but the HBs are still better for you. I also am on the ILD. What I am finding is that I am slowly changing most of my bad eating habits to good ones. Reading over all the testimonies, the recurrent theme is that most people do not put the weight back on because they have learned better eating habits. I, for one, want that to happen to me also. I have been unable on any other program to loses weight but ILD really works for me. AND I really do feel better eating this way then I ever did before. Regarding " normal " food eating after the ILD, if you follow ER, you will be eating " normal " food on and off of ILD. I say " jump in " - you'll love it!!! Should I lurk in the group for awhile and " all will become clear " ? That is one of the wonderful things about ILD. It works you back into the real world very nicely. In the meantime, your system has been balanced so you do not crave the sugars and carbohydrates you ate before. Please order the booklet and tape and you will see how great it truly is. You eat good food every day and I have stayed 98 - 100% compliant to my ER lists. It is just a matter of choosing your foods. Believe me, the two work very well together. There is even a ER4YT-ILD list that you can join once you have started. It is a small but wonderful group and we are all doing very well. I lost about 75% of the pain in my body the first two weeks on the program. I have FMS and arthritis. I have had a bilateral hip replacement and have not been able to walk correctly for almost 4 years. By the end of two weeks on the program my chiropractor was totally amazed at the difference. Give the program a try. I know you won't be sorry. Keep in touch and let me know what you think. Cystal, Golly gee, I wish that were so with all of us. I followed LR4YT for over a year. And I was 95% compliant. And I had next to no weight loss. However I didn't gain, so that was a good thing. And I felt good with no digestive problems, however I never had many to speak of. I will stay on LR4YT forever, since I truly believe it the program. But within two weeks on ILD, I lost 75% of my chronic pain and over 10 pounds. There is something in the program that has really worked for hundreds of people. ILD works very well with ER4YT and for those who have not had the weight loss they would like, I can sure recommend using both programs at the same time. I have been on it for 7 weeks and have lost almost 30 pounds. It is a healthy diet, balances out your system to stop the cravings and allows those of us with severe weight problems to become normal again. I think that both programs are valid and for some people, both programs may be the answer to a life long problem. Since both programs are very healthy, why not give them both a try if there is a weight issue? Yes there are even vegetarians (tho not recommended) - red meat is supposed to be good for you but the most important thing is to get the protein and stuff you need. > Also, in looking at the ILD web site, I noticed you must use Shaklee > products to do this. You can do one without the other and vice versa. It has removed all the carb cravings from my system and I was truly the Queen of the Carbohydrate Lovers. Don't feel alone out there. Guest guest
The only diet that worked for me and made me lose weight was the Diabetics' diet. It is the one with exchange lists. It measures the amount of carbs/fats, etc. that one takes each meal. The hospitals' diabetic clinics/centers have this exchange list booklet. Losing weight nna wrote: Date: Sat, 10 Jan 2004 22:40:40 -0000 From: " julianna " <jaxthecat1234@...> > I just came across this information and would like to discuss in greater > detail. Can anyone share their experiences > with coconut oil and losing weight? Any information will be appreciated > considerably. thanks ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ nna, There is no one 'formula' that works for everyone, but I can tell you my story. I'm hypothyroid, have fibromyalgia, am overweight, postmenopausal and have had extreme difficulty losing weight for several reasons. Had to take cortisone for 1 year in 1989. Slowed my metabolism. I had a hysterectomy in 1983 and was given Premarin (estrogen) without any thought to hormone balance (i.e. progesterone, DHEA, testosterone, cortisol, thyroid). Hormone imbalance. I've done a few successful diets, but regained the weight, and as a result my weight has yo-yoed, creating a higher 'set point' each time. And I had a total mastectomy for breast cancer in August 2003. So I am very concerned with eating properly and preventing further cancers. I've been to a doctor who has personally recovered from CFS (chronic fatigue syndrome), and who now treats FM, CFS, and post-polio patients whose metabolism has stalled. Her philosophy is that most of us are not getting enough calories to repair the body. In other words, we are eating too little. And her strategy is to gradually increase calories in a particular ratio of fats/protein/carbs. I found her particular method difficult and did not stick with it long enough to see results. I'm now interested in the strategy outlined in " Turn Up The Heat - Unlock the fat-burning power of your metabolism " - Author: Philip Goglia - ISBN:0670030856 Goglia is the founder of Performance Fitness Concepts in Los Angeles. He is a registered nutritionist for more than 20 years, and is a board member of Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Beverly Hills and City of Hope board of governors in Los Angeles. He has " more than 250,000 clients worldwide. Despite what many modern diets tell us, weight is not genetically predetermined, and exercise alone will not make you thin. " The theory is much the same as the medical doctor I saw, with an added factor. Goglia has found that some people burn fats and protein efficiently, but not carbs. Some burn carbs efficiently, but not fats and protein. And a very small percentage burn fats, protein and carbs efficiently. In other words, he helps you discover which metabolic type you are and to customize your food and exercise programs according to your body's needs. His book helps you do that. For example, if you are an efficient carb burner, and inefficient fat/protein burner, the Atkins diet will not do a thing for you. Goglia structures diet according to metabolic type, and combines it with physical exercise. I personally believe that dieting alone will not be successful either. That it must be combined with exercise, according to ability and type of exercise (both weight bearing and aerobic). The bottom line is that we must burn fat, not muscle for energy. If you are not an efficient fat burner, you will not lose weight by using coconut oil. If you are an efficient fat burner, you may be one of those who can lose weight while using the oil. Be leary of global claims by any diet regimen that their way will work for 'you'. Find out what works for you. Guest guest
Hu na and welcome to the forum! I've written a few times about how I lost weight and so as mot to repeat myself I am reposting the two messages I posted to the forum last year, which tell the story of how I lost weight with coconut oil. I know in the meantime that it does not work for everyone, though. regards, Sharon My rediscovery (of coconut oil) came around Easter this year when I was trying to lose weight and tried everything but couldn't. The moment I started using coconut oil the weight began to melt off. It was amazing. Soon I was down 20 pounds, and a pair of pre-pregnancy pants I had not worn for 20 years but had not wanted to throw away because I liked them so much were fitting me again! After that initial meltdown i reached a plateau and seemed not to be moving any more (my goal is just 5 pounds more). During the summer holidays I was rather anxious as I went to the USA and on a cruise and could not keep to cooking with my precious oil. On the cruise they told us that the average weight gain is 1 pound a day! Soemhow though I managed to carry a little bottle around with me and add it to the food. I stayed with a friend and again I had my little bottle at mealtimes. She saw it on the floor next to my feet and thought I was secretly drinking vodka! But when I told her she was an easy convert and began using it too. I was afraid to go onthe scales after I came back home but I noticed my waistband was not any tighter. And when I did weigh myself I had not gained. I still lose weight, but more slowly. It doesn't show up so much as pounds but as inches. Those favourite pants now have a three inch gap at the waist and I will have to get rid of them anyway - they are too big! I also have loads of energy and feel fantastic! so that's my story. Re: Introductions? (in reply to a questioon) Well - yes and no. For six weeks before I started coconut oil I had been trying to lose weight the usual way - cutting down on food. I was on a fruit diet, a cabbage soup diet, a Master Cleanse diet, you name it, I did it, non-stop. And nothing happened. In the week before I started on coconut oil I was on a water fast. I had not eaten for five days - just water and lime juice. I remember it so well - the despair because in spite of these drastic measures I was not losing weight. I had planned to stay on that fast for 10 days, but on the fifth day I had to drive 8 hours from England to Germany and my daughter begged me to eat on that day, because she was afraid I would faint or something on the way, or just get too tired! So that - a Wednesday, the Wednesday before Easter - was the day I started eating again, this time with coconut oil. While I was in Germany I kept on eating, cooking everything with cocontut oil. I wasn't eating much, mind you - definitely low-carb, and lots of fruit and vegetables. But far more than I had been eating in the six weeks previously. I did not have any expectations at all - since nothing had worked till now I had given up. I returned to England that weekend and on the Sunday I went on the scales for the first time since strating to eat again. And I was five pounds lighter than on Wednesday. After that it just kept dropping off. I had never been a bog eater and always a healthy one though I used to use things like soy productrs and unsaturated oils - thinking them to be healthy. I cut all that out, like Bruce Fife said . Read Eat Fat Look Thin - I basically followed those instructions. So I had certainly changed much of my eating habits along with the coconut oil. But I know it was the oil that did the trick because I just felt all this energy - nothing like it in the 30 years previously! The coconut oil also helped me to feel really satisfied, reduced my cravings - I could go for longer without food. hope this helps, Sharon

Guest guest
Hey all, Back to the thread about weight, I absolutely love Weight Watchers! It is great for those that cannot be physically active. It is all about the way you eat, it is NOT a diet, it's a life style change. It teaches you how to eat properly. I am a big believer in attending the meetings as well. I started weight watchers about two years ago, I was 110 pounds, I was not obese but wayyy to heavy. I stopped six months later and was down to 93 lbs. From two Junes ago to last Dec I did go up to 100, but with getting good sleep, really focusing on what I am eating, and being as physically active as my body lets me I'm down to 87lbs! I am boney and it is a weird feeling but it rocks! I love my weight and I am on a conceeded high but I earned it! lol If you gained 30 pounds you really need to look at what you are eating. Increase big time your fruits and veggies, when hungry go for protein snacks, meats nuts, cheeses. Substitute items for fat free or low fat. Do not skip meals or eat one big one a day. The more you eat throughout the day the better off you are. The less you eat the slower your metabolism becomes which means you'll start putting on the pounds. Lastly you can still have cookies, pies, chips, but make them the least amount of your food intake daily. Good luck everyone! --- danny <zeb8745@...> wrote: > > I was doing some research and I ran across this > site and I thought > some might find this helpful for the people that are > in the > wheelchairs. Guest guest
I am going to throw in my two cents about the losing weight thing. Here is what a naturopathic doctor would tell you. You do not want to lose weight you want to lose inches. In fact you want to gain weight (remember I am not overweight but I weigh 180 at 5'7"). When you lose weight you lose bone mass and muscle mass. Something you do not want to do. It is the inches and fat you want to lose while building up your muscle mass and bone mass. This is achieved by cutting out all processed carbs. NO wheat. None. Zip. Nada. Not a bit. No grains. Can have rice. I would also cut out all potato. No sugar. None. Nada. Zip. Lot's of veggies (no peas). NO corn. None. Corn is so genetically modified it does not even resemble the corn of our grandparents. Alter cells in the brain and is just starch. NO juice. Just sugar. Fruit and protein. You can have good fats. Butter, Olive oil, Coconut Oil. The other oils in the store are rancid before you even get them home. Kill B vitamins in the body. Do not limit your protein sizes. If you scrimp on protein your body will take it from your muscle and organs. You would be surprise what a yummy diet you can have when you do not "diet" and waste calories on non nutritious garbage. You will drop sizes and gain bone mass and muscle mass. This you want and need. Bone broth is a miracle worker in the area. I start my day with bone broth. My Naturopathic doctor says when women 'lose' weight they get bones like bird bones. All lacy and delicate. No wonder there is so much Osteoporosis and broken bones as women get older. We eat so badly and worry about the wrong foods that go in our mouths. Guest guest
Thanks Sue - This is way more than two cents worth. lol It's a $million dollars. My coffee jar is empty now so no more coffees in between meals. As too many calories, (especially with all the honey) and now will only have a cappuchino at the cafe. I have fruits, veges etc but need to cut down the size of my meals just a little. I do have protein with each meal but unsure how much protein is enough or too much? You said " no peas " so I assume they must be fattening? Good to know because I eat them regularly and plentifully. I only eat the good fats and oils at home. But when I occasionally eat out I get sick almost every time. So I agree with you. I just know that they have used toxic, rancid oils containing trans-fats. I truly think that a lot of the illnesses, and diseases we are seeing today are connected to the bad fats, and oils! You have mentioned your bone broth before. I will have to get that recipe and make it. Thanks for the info. Hope you are feeling stronger, and a bit better. Keep warm and take care. Love & hugs Carlene > > I am going to throw in my two cents about the losing weight thing. > Here is what a naturopathic doctor would tell you. You do not want to lose weight you want to lose inches. In fact you want to gain weight (remember I am not overweight but I weigh 180 at 5'7 " ). If you > scrimp on protein your body will take it from your muscle and organs. You would be surprise what a yummy diet you can have when you do not " diet " and waste calories on non nutritious garbage. You will drop sizes and gain bone mass and muscle mass. This you want and need. Bone broth is a miracle worker in the area. I start my day with bone broth. > My Naturopathic doctor says when women 'lose' weight they get bones like bird bones. Guest guest
Sue~~I really appreciate all the info you give to us here in group. I was wondering if you could give us like a menu of what you eat daily. I am getting really confused and don't know where or how to start. I have been thinking about fasting for a few days. I too would like your recipe about the the bone broth. Getting ready to go to bed. It is snowing heavily here tonight. Do hope you have a peaceful rest tonight, and will feel better tomorrow. Guest guest
I had no idea that unsaturated & polyunsaturated fats were metabolic suppressors. One thing to add, coconut oil can speed up a sluggish metabolism rate, so one burns more calories. Many people I have know who are perpetually struggling to lose weight have some things in common (in my observation). a) They are very sedentary. The send other people to run errands or use the car rather than walk 6 blocks. They use lots of crappo oils and avoid the healthy saturated fats. c) They really love their carbs! For example, they will drink diet coke, but then have a bowl of potato salad. d) They snack a lot. They seem to be always hungry. Seems to that points to Leptin Resistance. And also points back to ( and © above. Years ago an experiment was posted on one of my health lists. If one is hungry and sits down to a meal of pancakes with syrup, one can eat and eat, then eat some more. But if one eats a steak or pork chops, and eats the fat on the meat, one gets full and has little urge to gorge. So what they eat will determine how much they eat. e) Tied into (d) is intestinal health. If one's gut is clogged with gunk. In folks with poor bowel health, some food never passed out the butt. It mummifies in the gut. Technical term is fecolith. The fecoliths inhibit absorption of nutrients, so even if one eats a full meal, one feels like one is starving. So one keeps eating more and more. Adding lots of fiber to the diet is the most gentle way to deal with fecoliths. For those who want a quicker path to bowel health, one can do juice fasts plus high colonics. I once knew a woman who ridded herself of massive amounts of fecoliths in several different juice fasts with high colonics. She lost over 100 pounds, then kept the weight off by eating healthily. I once read a book by a coroner who autopsied people who died from morbid obesity. He sometimes found more than 100 pounds of fecoliths in the intestines of a very morbidly obese person. Not only do fecoliths inhibit nutrient absorption, but as the food rots and mummifies, toxins are put into the body every day which cause damage to many organs. He hypothesized that fecoliths contributed to death of the morbidly obese more than their excess weight. Guest guest
I think your observations below are pretty much bang-on, Alobar. Routine alcohol consumption also plays a role in weight problems (e.g. beer gut). I had read about the fecolith problem before but not with that term being used or with a sufficient description to make it appear to be a legitimate issue. It doesn't sound good and appears to be something a lot more people need to be aware of. Also, thanks Duncan for your information previous to Alobar's. I enjoy reading both of your comments on the forum as your knowledge and insight seemingly always fit in with my areas of interest. > > > > Cheryl, you can reduce weight with a reduced-carb " anti-candida " diet even without the coconut oil. Guest guest
Thanks for the information, weight loss has always been a problem even though: I don't drink, smoke, or eat fatty foods. I am also a qualified Personal Trainer so am well educated in the areas of Nutrition and Fitness. Even when I was at the peak of my fitness and running marathons I was never skinny. Thats why I thought I would try the coconut oil as I have been told that it seems to help. cheers cheryl :
