Guest guest
Why You Cannot Rely on Blood Tests for Hormone or Nutrient Levels Revised with clarifications March 5, 2011. Your circulatory system, also known as the cardiovascular system, is the system that, in humans and other higher animals, delivers oxygen, hormones and nutrients throughout the body by a complex network of vessels, and it carries carbon dioxide and waste products from the cells to organs that get rid of them, which are mainly through the lungs, liver and kidneys. There are two main types of vessels in the circulatory system: 1) The arteries 2) The veins Arteries contain oxygen from the lungs, nutrients from the digestive system, and hormones, which they circulate throughout the body by the capillaries (tiny blood vessels supplying all cells). The cells uptake the oxygen, nutrients, and hormones from the capillaries, and dump their waste products into the system along with carbon dioxide, by the capillaries, which are carried away by the veins. Veins carry deoxygenated blood (carbon dioxide), waste products from the cells, and any nutrients or hormones the cells did not need and/ or could not uptake, back to the lungs so the carbon dioxide can be released along with any other waste products the lungs get rid of, and it circulates to other organs that get rid of waste like the liver, the kidneys, the skin, etc. Blood tests are taken from the veins, which contains blood that has been depleted of nutrients, hormones, oxygen, etc. or those the cells did not need or could not intake. Therefore, any blood tests cannot possibly test what is going on at a cellular level. Blood from the veins mainly contain carbon dioxide, waste products from the cells, and hormones and nutrients the cells did not need and/or could not use. The reason cells aren't able to uptake some nutrients and hormones is because other nutrients that work along with them are lacking and/or because the cell membranes aren't healthy, making them unable to uptake nutrients, hormones, and even water. All cell membranes must be constructed out of 50% saturated fat (lung cell membranes need 100%) in order to be healthy. If they aren't constructed properly the cells become weak and are less able to intake nutrients, hormones, etc. and they lack the energy needed to get rid of their natural waste products. Also toxins make cell membranes rigid/stiff so the cells are less able to uptake nutrients, hormones, oxygen, water, etc. – see Toxins Cause Cell Membrane Defects: http://www.healingnaturallybybee.com/articles/cabout1.php Testing vitamin D levels in the blood has become popular these days however blood from the veins only indicates the amount of vitamin D the cells didn't or couldn't uptake but it doesn't measure the amount that was available in artery blood, so you wouldn't know how much your cells actually got. In order for cells to utilize vitamin D many other nutrients are required, including vitamin A, fatty acids like omega 3 and omega 6, saturated fats from unrefined coconut oil and animals, i.e. butter, lard, etc. So it is interesting that those nutrients are not tested, and many cannot be tested. The same is true for any other nutrients and hormones. In conclusion, testing your blood for hormones and nutrients like Vitamin D, iron, calcium, B12, etc. is meaningless since hormones and nutrients in veins only indicate what the cells did not uptake, and it also doesn't indicate how much was available in the arteries that were used by the cells. That is why it is important to stick to the basics, by following the diet and only take the supplements recommended. " More is not better. " Your body is smart enough to balance out all of its nutrient levels, hormones, water, etc. if it gets what it needs to do its job.
