Guest guest
Hi Everyone:) I have read many posts from exhausted parents out there seeking advice for their picky toddlers and thought I could share some tips that have really helped me. My 2 year old is extremely picky as well and through tons of trial and error I have found some things that work for us. Hopefully something on this list will help someone out there:) -Hide the veggies if it's a fight. It' not essential, but if you're like me I like a little variety. Instead, I mix pureed red peppers, garlic, and onions in his homemade pork sausage patties. I also add those to his hamburger patties, meatballs, any ground meat recipe. -I also puree bone marrow, celery, onions, etc into his bone broth and he actually eats them that way. If it is not pureed, he spits it out every time. - the homemade ketchup was a miracle for me. He will eat more when I put the kecthup on his food. -Surprisingly, kids usually like sauerkraut. This is the only vegetable my son will eat and all my niece and nephews love it too. It goes very well with applegate grass fed organic hot dogs. The only added ingredient is lactic acid. I think this is legal, but if not someone please let me know:) -Pork cracklings are the ultimate snack! My butcher actually saves me pork skins for free and I fry them up and add sea salt. This is pretty much my sons only snack food and he can eat them all day. -Chicken skins are great too. My butcher saves me a container once per week and I roast them in the oven with different spices. Crisp them up real good. - My son doesn't like eggs, and will only take a sip of the egg drink. I sometime blend them in his soups. So,to keep up his fat ratios, after each meal, I put 2 teaspoons of coconut oil in warm water and make him down it. He doesn't like it, but he gets stickers for it. A cheap and easy incentive. -The texture of organ meat are actually eaier for toddler to chew than some other meats. I am not sure how many kids are lazy chewers out there, but for some reason my son spits out beef and white meat even though he has all of his teeth. He like the flavor though. My son likes, liver, kidneys, heart, and sweetbreads. -Take a deep breath when they don't want to eat what you have made. It is so important not to make eating and food a source of negative attention and a time of dread. If the kids don't eat then, they will eat something later. My son like to say he's hungry at bed time, and then I just remind him he should have eaten earlier. He is slowly starting to eat more at dinner time. I also noticed my son eats more when he's happy, and kiddies really pick up vibes. - Cheers! I get my boy to drink more water by saying " cheers " and touching glasses with mine. He loves this game. Good Luck ! Brittany
