Guest guest
Hi Bee, Thanks for your reply, particulary the cholesterol issue. I like the simple explanations and it makes sense, or I want it to. Will keep testing, but not too often. I need to get back to the issue of the yeast flakes. It is difficult for me to order online (too expensive for me at the moment) and the IHerb are not based in France as I cannot find a website. It's US based. I have been looking on the internet trying to find out if what I am buying is the active yeast. As the Fench tend to name things differently than us (even when translating to English!), I'm wondering if maybe the flakes I see in the shop, called Levure de Biere which are flakes, roughly translated appears to be Brewer's Yeast, but appear to be made from bettrave, which to me is beetroot, or maybe it's beet, which is I think ok. I didn't buy that, but bought Levure Maltée which is yeast flakes with cereals, I have just discovered, plus I haven't been able to find any reference to this type anywhere in the US.. This may be worse for me as have a gluten intolerance and of course should not be eating it on this diet. They have the usual name of Saccharomyces cerevisia, which is written on my bag of Yeast flakes and is used to describe nutritional yeast and sometimes brewers yeast on the internet (probably why the French call it this). I may be well off with this, but my flakes have the nutty, flaky look for Nutritional Yeast Flakes. I really want to use this, as it's natural, cheaper and I like taking it also for the fiber that I know I don't get enough of on this diet and don't take the large volume of Vit C, as all vitamins are so expensive here. The upshot is, that it might be a matter of product name that causes the confusion. I saw a post elsewhere the other day from someone in the UK saying that they couldn't find NYs anywhere, so hopefully I will be able to use what I have found. I hope you or Ed can take the time to reply to this as it's really bugging me. Best regards, Nuala PS, I'm telling as many people as I can about your site, but some people believe there medication is the only way. ________________________________ From: Bee <beeisbuzzing2003@...> Sent: Wed, February 16, 2011 1:43:29 PM Subject: [ ] Re: Cholesterol and Nutritional Yeast question > > Hi Ed, > > I haven't looked at my email for a while. I guess Ed wasn't around to reply to you. When your body is detoxifying cholesterol levels will go up because the body produces more cholesterol to help get rid of toxins. >> My second query is that as I live in France, I have a problem with the >>translation of products. I saw what I thought was Nutritional Yeast, but on >>further checking discovered that I had the choice of Brewer's yeast Flakes, >>which I didn't buy or Yeast Flakes MALTED, which I bought and am taking as I >>appear to be also getting fibre from this and my consipation has improved, but >>I'm not sure if it is making me ill, as I still have my usual symtoms (my fault >>for not sticking to it). I also read somewhere that Brewer's yeast was bad for >>Candida. My health food shop didn't have plain Nutritional Yeast Flakes and I >>can't find them as am living in a small town. Is it all the same thing? What >>is Nutritional Yeast made from or what product does it come from, so I may be >>able to tell my shop. +++The correct Nutritional Yeast Flakes are prepared so the yeast itself is not alive. In other words, it is inactive. Evidently active yeasts in other products, like Brewer's yeast is a problem for candida. +++I think you can buy from iHerb in France and if you haven't ordered from them before you can get $5.00 US off your first order IF you give them my Rewards Number, and my iHerb page lists the supplements I recommend, including NOW Brand Nutritional Yeast Flakes: http://www.healingnaturallybybee.com/resource/iherb.php All the best, Bee
