Things had been going relatively well especially with her ADHD which almost completely ceased to exist. 10 days ago I discovered that the sea salt we were using (Hain Iodized Sea Salt) had dextrose in it and so I readily purchased Le Paludier and began consuming it exclusively. Since then I have become terribly irritable again, and my daughter became more hyper again. The school was already giving me a hard time for taking her off meds even though she was well behaved (their complaint was solely that she didn't finish her school work), but now they're sure to give me hell because she's very active in these last few days. Plz give me some words of encouragement +++Hi Lore, The sea salt is so very important for the overall functioning of the body, and getting the right kind obviously improved your daughter's ability to heal and detoxify itself. That includes drugs and other toxins so that's why she has bad behavior again. She will get the same symptoms she had that the drugs were attempting to treat since her body is also retracing them. During healing the body retraces all of the symptoms and emotional issues it went through when becoming unhealthy, and healing is the reverse of all disease processes - see this article to understand: http://www.healingnaturallybybee.com/articles/heal10.php Hang in there since this too shall pass. Just have patience and read more about how the body heals itself naturally so you understand: http://www.healingnaturallybybee.com/articles/menu1_2.php All the best, Bee
Guest guest
Hi Lore, I think that because you and your daughter had been consuming a bit of dextrose for the past couple of months, it held you back slightly in your healing (but nothing to worry about now). And now that you aren't getting any more dextrose, your bodies are going deeper into healing mode. You aren't getting worse. You are getting better. Natural healing isn't a straight uphill climb. It sometimes seems as though you are taking a step backwards, but in fact, your body is becoming stronger now (from not being burdened by the dextrose) and it is able to really dig in and start healing at the next level. Think of it like an onion skin. Those first wonderful improvements you and your daughter made are the outer layers and now you are starting to work on a deeper layer. Don't listen to your daughter's school. I'd have some pretty strong words to say to anyone claiming that my autistic kid needed medication. Unleash some of that irritability you've been having on them! (okay, maybe not!) ;o) It isn't up to them to decide to medicate your daughter; it's up to you and this is what you have decided. You are doing the right thing. Hang in there! Group Moderator > > Hi Bee and anyone with kids on the program, > > My daughter and I are both on your diet since January. Guest guest
, thanks for your words of encouragement. As I write you I am crying like a child because I just returned from her school meeting and I was cornered by the teacher, the social worker and the psychiatrist telling me how much Krissy has REGRESSED. The teacher tells me she was digging in the garbage eating crumbs and all kinds of other stuff...some that I believe and others that I have a feeling are an exaggeration. Today is just a really bad day for me. I just want the comfort of my bed and I wish to be alone. God, its so difficult to not be understood by the mainstream community. I even took a book in with me called The Ketogenic Diet for children and others with Epilepsy where it says that it may be worth trying diabetics and ADHD kids on this diet too since they've seen amazing improvements in some kids with these problems secondary to epilepsy (although I know our diet is a little different but close enough for them to get the picture). The book was written by a big guru over at s Hopkins, but nevertheless, its just not interesting to the school staff especially when she's been acting up these last few days again. They treat me like Im the one who's doing her wrong. I pray that this is just a short transition period. , how long did it take your son to stop the negative behaviors after beginning the diet? Guest guest
Lore - super big hugs, sister. I wish i could be of help to you! is there any way to keep her home with you during this transition period? You SO need to be encouraged, to KNOW that you are doing the right thing in spite of what is being thrown in your face. I will be praying for you! This, however, is a good reminder to all of us to really check out Bee's recommended resources for supplements so that we ensure we are getting the best possible... > ...As I write you I am crying like a child y has REGRESSED. Guest guest
Hi Lore, That's awful that they treated you like that. You have every right to be upset right now. I've been exactly in your shoes, fighting with my son's daycare. I'm so sorry you're going with this. We have a doctor's note and a letter from a dietitian from this country's top hospital and still the teachers question what I'm doing (and whether it's safe) and to top it all off, the principal's own daughter has severe autism, so you would she'd be a little more sympathetic. I just have to shake my head sometimes. I actually met one of the authors of that book, Kosoff from s Hopkins, at a keto-conference for parents of kids with epilepsy. My husband was just checking for a call for participants in studies on the ketogenic diet for kids with autism, but sadly there aren't any physicians signing up to participate. Doctors have known since the 1960s that the keto diet helps with behaviour and autism and yet they don't want to tell parents about it. And those of us who try to actually do something to help our kids get well are demonized. It's sickening. With my son, his behaviours changed within days of starting the diet (both this time and the first time). He still does a few automisms (hand flapping and a little spinning), but I can live with that. I've been tracking his food very carefully and these behaviours seem to coincide with increased carbs. Incidentally, so do his cravings for carbs and the resulting meltdowns because he can't have more. He's 6 years old and with the exception of 3 months (from October to January) he's been on the diet since he was 3.5. We re-started it in January after the doctors had a chance to assess him while eating 'normal food'. I don't know if his positive and quick results are typical or not. I think starting him early on the diet (at 3.5 years old) helped him not to establish as many strange behaviours that I know other autistic kids display. I really feel for you, Lore. I hope your daughter gets through this next round of healing quickly so the school can see for themselves that she has not regressed, that she is actually getting better. It's awful that they cornered you like that. At the end of the day, she's your daughter and it's your decision how you treat her. Hugs, Group Moderator > > , thanks for your words of encouragement. Guest guest
Dear Lore, I'll add my prayers to 's for you and your daughter. Wouldn't it be nice if you could home-school and avoid all this rubbish? If I'd had a child I would be just as averse to the toxic drug therapies and be as vigilant as you are. I respect you a lot for what you are doing for your daughter! Stay strong; it will all work out for the best of the children, if we hold firm. Also be sure to take good care of yourself since this is extremely stressful. It is a good idea to take time out every day for yourself, when you decide you aren't going to think about this, and do things that you enjoy and help you relax. Guest guest
Hi , when I read that you thought your son's automisms are connected to his carb intake, it made me wonder if you had thought about putting him on an all meat and fat diet? My two responded incredibly well to that. The other thing I wondered was if you had him on hcl? This was a really big break through for both of mine, including my son who is the same age as yours. You can get really small ones that are easy to swallow from International Nutrition. Guest guest
Hi , I would love to put him on an all meat and fat program (don't know if he would go for it for every meal) but right now he's following the doctor's ketogenic diet until the end of June so they can see the results for themselves. Everything he eats right now is very precisely measured and, in my humble opinion, the carb content is still waaaay too high, even though he only gets Bee's recommended vegetables. Normally, I wouldn't follow any doctor's advice (so this has been extremely difficult for me) but if I don't, I can't get a doctor's note so that I can feed him whatever I want during school hours. If I don't have the letter, the school will feed him what everyone else gets which includes bread, pasta, fruit, dairy, etc. and I won't allow that. It's because of the way the school system works here. They are obliged to provide food for every child and they follow the Swedish Food Guidelines, which is pretty much the same as the American Food Guidelines - low fat, high carb. The HCl is definitely something to consider. I don't think my son has problems with his stomach/digestion. He never complains of a sore tummy and his stools are typically soft and smooth. He also doesn't seem bloated to me. The other thing is that he can't swallow pills. About how big are the really small ones you get? Can you send me the link to International Nutrition? I'd like to check them out. Thanks, ! Guest guest
Hi , here is the link for the hcl.http://www.nutrivene.com/ The capsule measures about 1.5 cm long and 0.5cm wide which is very small for a hcl capsule. It contains 200mg of hcl and only 4 mg of pepsin which again is very small. I am very behind today but will post again tomorrow concerning thoughts on digestive issues All my very best, > > Hi , > > I would love to put him on an all meat and fat program (don't know if he would go for it for every meal) but right now he's following the doctor's ketogenic diet until the end of June so they can see the results for themselves.
