I've always thought that, cows milk is perfect for, baby cows! I had a dear friend, kind of like a big brother, who's dead now. He had crohn's disease, was born and raised in Wisconsin. Land of dairy, lots of milk, cheese and butter was his diet. Could have been a body type or an intolerance thing, too? I am interested in what >Tom Harrelson wrote about, " One person's food can very well >be another person's poison " ! Now, goats milk could be the answer. It has been said, goats milk is most like mothers, horse(mare)milk is also. I have been wanting to get a few goats, where I'm living. I have a son who is intolerant to everything but can take goats milk. Goats are jumper and movers, also great company for high strung horses. Ciao, jal. Guest guest
----Original Message Follows---- Date: Sun, 29 Nov 1998 12:26:40 -0800 From: Alan & worth <charlesworth@...> oxyplusonelist Reply-to: oxyplusonelist Subject: Dairy products From: Alan & worth <charlesworth@...> The Dairy Council doesn't tell us: Milk is nature's food for a baby calf, who has four stomachs, will double its weight in 47 days and is destined to weigh 300 pounds within a year!!! See this site called " The Facts on just how poisonous cow's milk is " http://www.waste.org/~lanshark/vegan/milk.html Villous Atrophy.- For people with this problem, the casein milk protein causes the intestinal villi to flatten, much like it does when gluten is consumed by somebody that is intolerant to gluten. For an indepth discussion see: http://www.panix.com/~nomilk/ Does Mycobacterium paratuberculosis cause Crohns disease? see: http://shaw.iol.ie/~alank/CROHNS/welcome.htm It is an extensive site about the bacteria in dairy products. It contains all of the relevant medical research, with explanations. Ovarian cancer is linked to dairy products. The milk sugar lactose is broken down in the body into another sugar, galactose. In turn, galactose is broken down further by enzymes. According to a study by Dr. Cramer and his colleagues at Harvard, when dairy product consumption exceeds the enzymes' capacity to break down galactose, thereis a build-up of galactose in the blood, which may affect a woman's ovaries. Some women have particularly low levels of these enzymes, and when they consume dairy products on a regular basis, their risk of ovarian cancer can be triple that of other women. The problem is the milk sugar, not the milk fat, thus non-fat dairy products cannot solve this problem. In fact, yoghurt and cottage cheese seem to be of most concern because the bacteria used in their manufacture increase the production of galactose from lactose. DON'T DRINK YOUR MILK! Hi ! Did you read my recent post about testing for your Metabolic Type? If you've had that done, then you will know for sure, whether or not your body can be healthy or NOT, consuming dairy products. If you can't, then must STAY AWAY from them!! And even if you can, you should consume Raw Certified Organic Milk, meaning NO Processing, NO Pasteurization, NO Homogenization, NO Chemicals, and NO Drugs have been involved at all at anytime whatsoever!! Kind treatment of the animal must be involved also! Raw Goat's Milk is excellent (if the goat is raised properly) and is second only to Mare's Milk, which is very CLOSE to the constituency of a Human Mother's Milk. If you want to go one step better, you could consume a clabbered or cultured dairy product. If you're very ill and it's available, you could also consume a small amount of the milk from the mother within the first few days after she's had her newborn, just as you should have done as a new-born baby from your Mother, so that you get the Colostrum in that new-born milk, which fortifies your Immune System! There are other cultures, that didn't and don't tamper with their dairy products and have consumed them for centuries, being hardy and healthy and without the health problems, especially Cancer and other serious diseases, that research is now saying will occur! Also if you can consume dairy products, you should consume it in MODERATION to be in good health. We, Americans, have a great tendency to overdo things! We figure that if a little bit is good, then whole lot must be whole lot better, but when it comes to nutrition, that isn't necessarily so!! Helping, hoping, and healing, Tom/Eccl. 9:10. Guest guest
, Thanks for the excellent website references regarding the harmful effects of milk. I plan to check them out. I do believe, however, that there is milk...and there is milk. I imagine the studies were done with homogenized and pasteurized milk, which from what I read is not really milk at all, but a food substance so changed by the processes it it put through it has essentially become something else. But REAL MILK, especially real raw organic goat milk, may be a whole different story. Hippocrates said, " If you want to be well, get a goat and live on the south side of a mountain " . I am currently reading Bernard Jensen's " Goat Milk Magic. " Jensen says, " From Europe to the Middle East, from Africa to South America, the goat is considered the friend of good health, and goat milk drinkers are known for their longevity. " I wish I could quote the whole book. Here's another. " My own personal experience, after having goats for 50 years, is that goat milk is a wonderful help in restoring the health and strength of invalids, elderly persons, those with chronic diseases. Goat milk is one of the best natural health supplements I know. " For many years I have avoided all dairy. I used soy milk. Recently I've been reading that soy milk may not be digestible, and may inhibit thyroid function. Now, every food has its supporters and critics. Still, I am interested in the resurgence of favor foods perviously considered " bad " ; eggs, meat, saturated fat, dairy -- are finding. So I'm experimenting. I've been waiting for my co-op to get raw goat milk in for weeks. Yesterday it came in...I picked up 3 quarts. It is delicious... could have drunk all three quarts at once (moderation never being my strong suite.) I want to clabber some, since Jensen talks about clabbered milk. And I also take goat milk whey (powdered) every day. (Been doing that for months.) It's an awfully pleasant way to find out whether goat milk is the right thing for me. I'm trying to figure out now how to get a goat. I'm in town. But where there's a will there's a way. Jensen says the milk still warm from the goat is the ultimate healing food. I want some! Peace and health, Vilik

Guest guest
Cliff what we eat as dairy products today bears no resemblence to what our ancestors ate. What they do to cows today and what they feed them you would never believe. And I am not saying it is the real cause of cancer like there is one cause I am saying it is vastly unhealthy, though I do eat it myself but I know what I am eating. There are many toxins in todays dairy products, some pretty heavy ones. mark Dairy Products Hi, It would seem logical to me that if Dairy Products were a real cause of cancer there would be no one in the US left alive. Our ancestors would have died and we would never have been born. Cliff

Guest guest
Our ancestors did not have the preservatives added to their dairy products either. There fields were not sprayed with chemicals, the feed was not " enhanced " with harmones for the animals to grow faster and bigger. The milk was not preserved with formaldehyde either. This is the difference in today and our ancestors. > Hi, > > It would seem logical to me that if Dairy Products were a real cause of > cancer there would be no one in the US left alive. > > Our ancestors would have died and we would never have been born. > > Cliff

Guest guest
Regarding your explanation , why then do you blame the milk, or dairy products for possibly causing cancer? Why not blame the " meat " itself? Guest guest
The dairy products I purchase come from hormone-free cows. Plus there are no preservatives added to the dairy products I purchase. Plus, the meat I purchase also comes from hormone-free cattle, plus, they graze on pesticide-free grass. These foods are easily available. One only needs to look for them, and read labels. Guest guest
Why pick on " Dairy Foods " ? Why not then simply say, " There are many toxins in many of today's foods " ? Besides, all farmers don't feed these " strange items " to their cattle! We purchase " grass-fed beef, " from a farmer, here in Wisconsin, and we know exactly what he feeds his cattle. He uses no pesticides nor added hormones, either. Again, one only has to look, and these pesticide- and hormone-free products are available. Furthermore, our son owns a ranch in South Dakota. He uses no hormones, nor pesticides, nor does he feed these outlandish things (you're warning us against), to his cattle. Granted, some ranchers and farmers may feed the things you suggest -- but again I say, " One only has to look, and read! The excellent, hormone- and pesticide-free foods still ARE available. Guest guest
Why not pick on dairy foods, it's as good a place to start as any. I've lived on farms here in the U.S. and also in Thailand and it's a world of difference. However, Thais don't eat dairy products. Thais also have the lowest rates of cancer ''for all forms of cancer'' in the world. http://www.seer.cancer.gov/ It is nice that you can get your beef, chicken , pork from such a trusted source but 99 percent of the population cannot and even if they could, the cost is often times prohibitive for most. Thais do by the way eat some chicken, pork and beef but do not eat any kind of cheese or drink any milk. Virtually all of the animals are exist entirely on grass, rice bran (the hull from the rice kernal) and water. The chickens also eat a lot of insects. Most of the worlds population does not drink milk or eat cheese. Cancer is a virtual epidemic in the industrialized western nations. Who is to know? The vast majority of beef cows, chickens and pigs in the U.S. are fed a steady diet of antibiotics and hormones (which you eat when you eat the animal) and for this reason most European countires won't accept it. On the flip side, up until quite recently, many European countries fed virtually anything they wanted to their cows to fatten them up (but no hormones) , including the ground up corpses of other cows and sheep. They essentially fed a vegatarian animal the diet of a carnivore. Now how is that for turning nature on it's head? BOB > Why pick on " Dairy Foods " ?
