I second what Katy and Sam say about this book... I got it when I met Sam

and invited her to the list from the store she works at... she recommended

the book.

The cleansing cream with rosemary, lavender and orange is wonderful! I made

a batch and gave some to my sister.... she has stopped using the Adrien

Arpel (sp that name lol) French Vanilla Meltdown from QVC (something like

$38 for 10oz! ) and now using mine exclusively!!

The book I've read is " Vaccinations: A Thoughtful Parents Guide " by

Aviva Jill Romm. Relatively anti-vax but middle-of-the-road and

" non-hysterical " (as the editor of Mothering Magazine says). Discusses

pros and cons. -angie

I also recommend Randall Neustaedter's The Vaccine Guide - very

non-confrontational, very well referenced and thorough. Best book on the

subject I've read to date and I've read quite a few :-)

I eventually read many books, but the one that made the biggest

impression on me and shoved me over the edge from thinking " vaccines

are probably ok for most babies " to " this is a corrupt and deceitful

business that is making a lot of money, injuring people and covering

it up with lies and rigged studies " was Evidence of Harm by

Kirby. What pushed me over the edge to truly begin to question

vaccines was the accounts of the behavior of the CDC and vaccine

manufacturers told in that book. I wasn't ready to process the

information and question the safety of vaccines until my trust in the

government and pharmaceutical industry was shattered by the compelling

true story in the book.

I really enjoyed this book, so interesting! The man has autism, not DS but fascinating to read how his mind works and some of our kids either have some autistic chararcteristics or a dual dx. If the link doesn't come through it's called "Born on a Blue Day"

I read it too and added it to our resource center! It was great!!! Thanks to whoever on this list recommended it a few weeks ago! :) Mattheiss, Executive DirectorLifeLine, Inc.Reaching Families of Those with Special Needs With Support, Education, and Respite-- "ette Beurrier" <pbeurrier@...> wrote:

I just finished “Just Beyond the Clouds” by Kingsbury. It was a wonderful book. Two of the main characters are young adults with DS. The portrayal of them was just as I imagine they would or could be. The family struggles surrounding them were very real. And it was all written in such a positive manner. I highly recommend it!

Here’s a review:

You can also read more about it at

BTW, it isn’t too philosophical, just romance-y.

Hi everyone!  Thought I'd share a book that I have been reading that I find very

interesting and pertains to everything that we go through...  It's called Living

Well With Autoimmune Disease - What Your Doctor Doesn't Tell You That You Need

To Know by J. Shomon.  I saw it recommended on another chat list and have

really found a lot of information from reading it.  I believe I just ordered it

on Amazon.com or & Noble.com if anyone is interested.

Dear ,

I am a little behind on checking my email and when I saw that you had joined the

group I thought that I needed to make sure to congrats on joining the group.

I am a single mother of two beautiful girls. I was originally diagnosed with

Reiter's Syndrome and later with Ankylosing and then later it was Ankylosing

with Fibro tendencys on top. But, now since I had a MRI done today it is looking

that I may have more a Fibro issue than anything.

Hi Guys,

I just wanted to recommend a book by Gabor Mate called 'When The Body Says No -

Exploring The Stress-Disease Connection'.

Bee mentions that as well as eating the right diet we need to look after

ourselves emotionally too. Reducing stress is a major part of this.

This book is a MUST READ for anyone. The personality traits that can lead to

ill-health and the examples he gives are extraordinary. I think it was a

best-seller in Canada.
