Guest guest
Cathie, and all, This reminded me that when I was in the hospital with pancreatitis, my wife set up a TELEPHONE CONSULTATION with a holistic MD in town. He talked t me for over an hour, reviewed what was going on and gave me 2nd opinions on everything that was being thrown at me. It was incredibly helpful. Medical protocol prohibits another doctor from interferring with an ongoing case or your attending physician, and no " visiting " doc in their right mind would dream of wandering into your room to examine you or evaluate the treatment (they would get reamed by the Board) but this phone appointment was apparently something that was tolerated (not that I told anybody!). Another HOSPITAL SURVIVAL TIP, my wife picked up a fancy woven basket and filled it with chocolate bars from Switzerland, Belgium and France. We made sure EVERY nurse, aide, phlebotomist and attendant got a bar, or as many as they wanted, if they politely refused, we told them to take some home to their family. Most nurses live on Diet Coke, HoHo's and Doritos anyway, so we were probably upgrading their health but, from the patient's perspective, the positive psychological effect in my room was amazing. Many had never experienced real chocolate before. It made a huge difference in the attention and care that I got. She also used flowers, photographs and sacred objects to create a shrine in my room. The flowers and offerings were taken out to the woods and put in the trees after a day or two. That healed me as much as the medications and all who entered were aware of something powerful happening. Will, in Minnesota
