Guest guest
Personally, I would be afraid to advise someone whether to get a flu shot or not. However, I will say, at 48 I have had the flu many times. I also had measles, mumps, rubella, and whooping cough as a child, but that is another story. The flu is rough sometimes as I am prone to high fevers. Nevertheless, I always get over it and I am a healthy 48-year-old man. I did get the flu shot two times in the 80s as it was given free where I was working at the time. One of those year’s I got the flu anyway. That was the last considered taking the shot. I also do not let my children take the shot, but that is a personal decision that I have made. Anyway, just my take on the subject. The flu is not a death sentence. The flu is usually only an inconvenience that causes one to take time out and take care of his or her self. Jack Flu I don't know if this will ease any panic, but both my boys had the flu very early in the season (October or so). One ran a temp of 102-104 off and on for many days. They were both knocked out for about 10 days or so with aches, fever, sleeping all day, runny noses, etc. About 85 kids from their school were out. Needless to say, they are both doing fine now. It was the flu...not bubonic plague. If your child is generally healthy and not too young, the flu is not life threatening. As is often the case, we actually saw a little language spurt after the illness.... LHS

I just had the flu and developed pneumonia. I almost died. Nonetheless, I can't really advocate the flu shot, knowing what I know now. Guest guest
Its a tough, for or against the vaccine. I too 5 yrs ago took the vaccine along with my child, only to find ourselves sick for over a month after receiving the vaccine. But the concern over how to get thru the season. One try to reduce stress. Get plenty of rest, sunlight, exercise along with the use of herbs and vits. I also still had concerns and went to the DR to get an antiviral for the Flu, called Tramiflu. Its expensive, but I did notice the shelf life is 3 yrs. And you have to start taking it within the first 48 hrs of symptoms of the Flu. Someone asked " how to get a child to expectorate. " Gosh that's even difficult for adults with thick secretions. What I do like to use is one Tsp. of lemon juice and honey first thing in the mornings if my son, has congestion. I will cont. throughout the day,to have him drink lemon water, if he continues to have a thick secretions. As this really helps, and a great way to get some extra Vit C in his system. > We have no intention of getting the flu shot this year, but fully plan to > stock up on Triaminic, ibuprofen, acetamenophen, tissue with aloe, Sudafed, > etc..... > > By the way, anyone out there got any idea how to get these kids to actually > expectorate? Guest guest
hope you'll be feeling better real soon. I've been doctoring bronchitis since Thanksgiving, making several trip to ER. Forget it about ER doctors knowing much about SMA, last dr asked me what that was. My advice is plenty of fluids, rest and if you're not feeling better soon go back to your pulmonologist because they understand about bronchitis better than anybody. I was on my 4th antibiotics from family dr and wasn't getting better. 3 days after see pulmonologistI noticed great improvement. Being at home is always the best place to be you get better care there and less germs. Seasons Greetings to you
Guest guest
Hi Kendra, glad you are home at least! Are they sending an RT or PT to your home to do chest physio / manual coughing? And I agree, you need that cough assist! They are a miracle machine - Bernie is sick just with a cold now, and he gets a little mucous at the back of his throat like you describe. We use that machine and it gets the crud high enough up for him to clear it from his throat. He knows enough to ask for the machine when he needs it. It is SO much more comfortable than suctioning. It's not difficult to get a letter of necessity from Dr Bach for the cough assist, or FSMA may have one in the equipment cupboard that they can loan you. Hoping you feel better soon, wish I could help! Bettylou
Guest guest
Does your pulmonary know what a cough assist machine / in-exsuffulator is? He could prescribe you one. Our medical supply has them so we can get one fairly quick.
Guest guest
you should be able to buy or rent a cough assist to have on had. My insurance bought mine. That way it's on hand if you get a cold or aspirate. It's best to have one on hand or at least have an ER or doctor office you can go to use it if needed. Guest guest
kendra, when i had the flu in november, i got sooo weak, i couldnt even lift up my hand. it scared me! ive never felt that weak, i thought id never regain my strength. it took like 3 weeks to come back! but let me just say, whoever came up w/the cough assist is a DAMN GENIUS! when you get one youll know what im talking about! -
Guest guest
the pulmonologist knew about the cough assist and we are to call on monday to see if it is available. they didnt have one so they were loaning from another hospital. i dont really think i need it now. my congestion has decreased a great deal. im better with breathing, but still achy and dizzy and tired. im told a lot of it has to do with the meds. im on the robitussin and advil, because fevers keep coming back, and zithromax. its heavy stuff but it turns all the mucus into very thin liquid that seems to come up by itself and i can spit out. at least its getting loosened up and out of me. ive never felt so weak in my life. i can barely push the remote control buttons to turn the tv at nights. sitting up is becoming a tedious hassle. i cant wait until im feeling better and back to my old self. im sleeping a lot (about 12 - 16 hours/night and naps in the day) and drinking nearly 4 pitchers of water/day which i was told is the best thing for illness. my mom is having my dr help us receive a cough assist for home use. i dont have a PT that comes in, but my mom was shown how to do the chest pounding properly and we've been doing that. this morning i had the most productive cough and it was so strong (sorry im just proud of that - the kids are so confused why im so sick, ive never really been so weak like this with an illness, so they just tease me about my coughs sounding like that asian-looking character on MadTV). ill post in a few days. i hope everyone is doing alright and having a good holiday season. kristen - thanks for the email, ill write you back soon. i just need to get to bed for now. ~Kendra > Does your pulmonary know what a cough assist machine / in- exsuffulator is? Guest guest
<<What I wondered was, has anyone else experienced the same oddities w/ the temp and BS?>> Nope, we had the flu just like on the news...high fever, chills, aches...we took oscill-whatever and the high fever was gone in about 16 hours, was left with around 100 degrees. I think we would have been fine if we hadn't been assaulted by the secondary infections, about 4 days later. Everyone else I know who had it had the bad stuff for a week or MORE! My mom (big alternative med doubter) was even impressed with our recovery. M

Guest guest
Dear , Any method of getting ozone in is going to be helpful. I suggested rectal insufflation because the bug is in the intestines. So if you drink ozonated water, you get it from the top down, and with rectal insufflation, you get it from the bottom up. Guest guest
Electrification is good, but if you don't have your device yet there is another good way. What works for me is an eyedropper of regular hydrogen peroxide in the ear. Keep head tilted until the fizzing stops (maybe 5 or more minutes), then do the other ear. This is regular drugstore 3.5% stuff NOT the higher potency peroxide at high percentage concentrations! Run a google with hydrogen peroxide and colds and flu, or see Dr Mercola's comments: http://www.mercola.com/2002/mar/13/hydrogen_peroxide.htm You'll feel better tomorrow instead of a week and a half from now. Guest guest
Hi Reza. Well it is a frequency that targets ALL virus', bad bacteria and fungi and some parasites. So my guess is that it would help with the flu but have no experience. I am 54 and haven't had the flu since I was a child so haven't had an opportunity to try it out. In the mean time you might look into olive leaf extract, which is anti viral, or colloidal silver, also recommended by Beck, which is also antiviral, or ozonated water, which is also part of the Beck protocol, and is anti viral. \ Or plain old garlic. I recently heard a Dr. Schulze testimony of a lady he met who had studied some of his stuff on garlic. She was 80 years old and had a viral infection that the docs could not help her with. They tried every anti biotic known to man, which makes no sense, since a virus is not a bacteria. They finally told her that there was nothing they could do. She took matters into her own hands after some minor study and started taked copious amounts of raw crushed garlic. 49 cloves a day and in three days was totally free of her viral problem. Why 49? I have no clue. I think she just started taking it and didn't stop until she was getting some relief and stayed at that dose for several days. Garlic affects some people negatively brain wise so you would want to know your own tolerance. But garlic is anti viral, fungal and bacterial and is cheap. I am utilizing three approaches to fighting the flu. 1. For those with an FSCAN here is an excerpt for Dr. Loyd recently: " Sorry to hear about your cold. I am one that has seen colds and flu clear up many times in one treatment. We are finding some common virus frequencies between 2,000,000 and 3,000,000. You can DIRP that range in one stage. " I used this with my kids and it worked!! 2. The FREX 12 program download for free from www.healme.com.au When you open the program go to the DATABASE tab and put " trr " in the search box and up will come the 2004 Flu frequencies. I hate MLM's but this is the best product out there . If they ask you for a sponsor # mine is 6030221. But, above all read the info on the site and make your own decision. Henry ******************************************* Make sure you're getting the CS into the sinus cavities.... put several drops of 10% ionic CS into the nostrils while the head is tilted back.... preferably while lying down with your head over the side of a bed... roll your head gently from side to side for 3-4 minutes. Do that two or three (or more) times daily and it should clear up just about any sinus infection. The key is getting to silver to make contact with the germs. The next thing I would do is get the heck out of that building! ***************************************** We haven't had flu in years. Take 4000 iu daily of Vit D and 20,000 of Vit A from Oct thru April......Jane **************************** Dear , I can think of a few others: 1) echinacia 2) colloidal silver 3) hydrogen peroxide baths 4) garlic and onions (yum!) 5) Vitamin C at 3 grams per day 6) brisk walk in the park 7) 15 minutes a day on a rebounder Best of Health! Dr. Saul Pressman ************************************* and what do you think of " Airborne? When you figure 6 months of flu season, you are talking 12 pills per year. So, the above vial is a 15 year supply for one person. In case there are symptoms of flu, give the same remedy TID. In addition or instead, you can give Oscilococcinum 200C at onset of symptoms. Same cost... ****************************** Prevention: 10 ppm Colloidal Silver orally 1-3 cups a day during flu season. Spray eyes, nose and drops in ears when exposed to crowds or feeling really tired. Nebulize 20% DMSO and CS if any lung symptoms or when allergies cause mucous.Olive Leaf is also a favorite herb I use for flu. Mostly for treating it which I have not had to do since I started CS last November. Olive Leaf is also preventative. Yarrow comes to mind as a preventative as well. Of course Golden Seal and Ehinacea do too, but some say these herbs are being over used. I also find them too hard on the stomach, CS is soooomuch easier. Just avoided some bad food poisoning with CS last week, serious case was averted by drinking 2 cups of 10 ppm immediately and following up with sips for the next few hours. Garnet ********************** Hi , I read some where, Edgar Cacye, I think, that a fresh salad made with lettuce, (green lettuce, not iceburg), carrots, and celery, eaten every day would prevent colds.I tried this for 2 years and it worked for me, now I takeCS. During this time I worked in a nursing home with about 100 patients and 100 employees. All patients but 1 received the flu shot, about 75% of the employees received the flu shot. During this 2 years, over half the employees called in at least once with the flu and over half the patients were treated for a fever at least once, (tylenol and/or antibiotics). I have not had a flu shot in over 20 years. HTH, turtle ***************************************** I think the NUMBER ONE method. . . WASH YOUR HANDS OFTEN, and don't put your fingers in your nose/wash your eyes unless you're sure they haven't touched ANYTHING that somebody with the flu might have touched. Second, eat a lot of fresh fruits and veggies. . . antioxidants and such. Three, BELEIVE you won't get sick.Four, Sanitize door knobs. . .and other things you touch that others touch. . .And the one that's worked best for me (no flu shots, no flu in the past 15 years . . .) as much as possible, stay away from people that have the flu. . .working from home sure doesn't hurt. . . but even when I did hospital/LTC, I rarely got sick. . . and the two times in the past 10 years when my husband got the flu, I didn't. . . I think having the right parents/grandparents helps as well. . . Disease Management Programs for Irritable Bowel Syndrome and Migraine caused by Food Sensitivity ******************************** I find that a herbal remedy containing Siberian Ginseng (Eleuthereococcus senticosus) works brilliantly as a preventative. However, MUST stop taking it if you get a cold or 'flu as it appears to exacerbate the acute conditions. When I have forgotten to give this advice, clients have said they have had the worst 'flu ever, but it only lasted a couple of days and they felt great afterwards. I suspect that the Eleutherococcus strengthens the system so that a good dose of the 'flu has the good cleansing effect that many of us believe colds and 'flu are all about. One dose tube a week for three weeks and then skip three weeks and another dose tube. It has all the flu strains identified by WHO for this year in it and it works as effectively as flu vaccine. Better yet, no flu vaccine side effects. You may need your health practitioner to order this. If you get the flu, Oscillicoccinum will usually stop it in its tracks. I have never heard of anyone who died from the flu who took it. It is in every health food store and whole foods supermarket in the country and is Boiron's top selling product. I tell everyone they are risking their life if they don't have this in their medicine chest. The flu vaccine does not prevent the flu a huge proportion of the time even if you get a flu shot. Finally, anyone over 40 who is not taking Transfer Factor Plus should seriously evaluate their health strategies. It boosts the immune system by 4-6 times, better than any immune supplement I have tested. You can call Dale Fawcett in Seattle at (360) 598-6585 for that. Tell him I sent you. I've stopped a flu epidemic in an office of 50 people, every one of them infected, in one afternoon with Oscillicocinum and an immune supplement. I got tired of having to disinfect myself with Rife frequencies every day. Some of the staff went home and said it cured their babies from nursing. Of course, whenever I do this, I take flak from my fellow healthcare executives who want to avoid any liability. (It is usually not the physicians who complain as they tend to take my advice). They would prefer to have people out of work for a week and seeing their doctors. So usually I just irradiate my office with the right frequencies and make anyone who comes in sign a release form. Failing all of the above, the Rife frequencies for the flu will be posted within a few days of an outbreak. Last year we beat the CDC and state health agencies in announcing the flu epidemic and had the frequencies for it. The frequencies worked on everyone we know who tried them. Jeff Sutherland http://frequencyresearch.org/ **************************** For Flu I also use Lomatium, which kills viruses and St 's Wort (aka Hypericum). Herb Pharm makes a combo of these two. Grapes and grape juice are also anti-viral, the darker skinned the better. Alkalinizing your system by your diet is a good preventative. Google Alkalinize and Foods for more info. The food preservative BHT kills envelope viruses like herpes so can be helpful during the flu, mixed with oil and used topically it kills herpes and can be taken with oil or high fat meal, 500-1000 mg daily. Golden Seal long term is liver toxic. Ehcinacea can only stimulate Killer T Cells for so long before the immune system reacts by not reacting. Pulsing is often recommended in many herbal regimens. And only taking Ehcinacea and GS during an outbreak or risk of one, or when sick of course. It's just part of knowing how to use plants as medicine -- know their side effects, ask a GOOD herbalist before taking something you are not familiar with. Herbs can hurt you as well as help you. On over using CS/EIS all I know is that a bunch of people have taken an appreciable amount every day for many years with no untoward effects. Bacterial resistance is a matter of selecting out the individuals who are naturally immune. When these cells lines reproduce you have a population of resistant bacteria -- at least to that antibiotic. DMSO will by pass this resistance and carry the antibiotic passed the resistance at the cell membrane. Viruses do not become resistant but their genetic material can mutate, hence the ready supply of " new " viruses. Garnet **************************** Hi , My husband & I have been on the Hallelujah diet for 5 years. I used to catch everything & be sick for a couple of weeks. Since getting off animal products we have not had one flu in 5 years. I have had 2 colds which cleared up in a couple of days. We have sat in rooms with people who have been bed-ridden with really bad flu & we have not caught it. We have never had the flu vaccination & hope we never will. Regards Rosemary. ******************************* Hey, Nan ! Keep up the good work, Sweetheart ! Here´s a big, bear hug and kiss for you !! Plz don´t encourage your dad, any more, to get a flu shot. Rather, get some Oscillicoccinum into his " bod " on an very three day basis for 14 days. Don´t be surprised at his overall improvement, just watch him improve till he plateaus. Then do the Oscillicoccinum again. Peace, dr.b_helthi *********************** Hello everyone, I was reading the string on Flu treatments and preventative and thought it appropriate to tell you about Larrea Tridentata. It is a proven anti-viral both RNA and DNA related. I work for an MD and Doc of Oriental Medicine and see it work on a regular basis. This herb is available in non-toxic for at: ww w.shegoi.net/larreaheals I was also wondering if we could use an imprinter like Eagle's technology and make a homeopathic from either someone infected or last years vaccine? The Oscilli is homeopathic and therefore has an indefinite shelf life. It's best to keep it out of direct sunlight. We keep it in the glove-box of the automobile and in our bathroom, and near the bed. It is around $10.00 [in flue season] for the family size in just about any health-food store. {Walgreens carried it for years, but that stopped a while back.} It's homeopathic - it can't hurt you. [taken from goose liver.] Whatever happened to goose liver pat'e? We NEED it in our diet. One " serving " consists of 3 viles filled with hundreds of tiny homeopathic pellets. Just pour under your tongue and allow to dissolve. It is powerful. For most folks, the 3 vials are needed to be effective. Once my husband needed four vials [i think because he was just about 24 hours into the flu infection before he could get to his supply of Oscilli - plus he is a big guy.] We also discovered that it isn't necessary to wait the prescribed 6 hours between dosages. My husband took the 2nd dose in about 2 hours and the 3rd in 3 or 4 hours. We also take a vial after zapping if we feel flu-like detox symptoms. www.miracle2network.com/me Hey, great research opportunity..see if u beat it using the battery! see for the 15 minutes, no electronics parts needed kitchen table way to do this. bG ***************************************************** Flu 2003 For this problem, I would use an antiseptic regimen, such as vitamin C, olive leaf extract, and oregano oil internally. I would disinfect the ears using 3% hydrogen peroxide and the eyes, nose, and mouth with saline or colloidal silver, following my rule that when there is a head, inner ear, sinus, etc, infection to disinfect " all the holes in the head. " A good way to make 3% H2O2 is to use 35% food grade and make the 11:1 ratio by putting a half teaspoon of the 35% in a 1 oz dropper bottle and filling the rest with colloidal silver. turf " Sara Klein Ridgley, Ph.D. "
