Guest guest
Hi , I am having reflux problems too, something awful. The Nexium and Prilosec were not working. My doctor gave me Famotidine 40 mg. I take it twice a day...working wonders ;-) From: <vrosegirl2000@...> Sent: Fri, April 16, 2010 10:23:14 AMSubject: RE: reflux Hi Joanne,You never mentioned the RX that the doctor gave to you? I would like to know, I've been having the same problem lately. From: Joanne Bodeen <joannebodeen@ earthlink. net>Subject: RE: reflux @groups. comDate: Friday, April 16, 2010, 7:56 AM Hi , I have waited to respond till after I saw my internist yesterday... she says there is an rx (which I will pick up today) that deals w/this issue, the bubbling up etc., has to do w/esophagus (sp?) spasms...she gave me one for last night and it worked! hip hip (hips away) hooray!! however, if this does not continue to do the job I have decided to fly to either Vegas or San Diego and go see the dear Dr. C. SW will be flying out of Panama City Beach end of May and we have a couple of free tickets so if I go alone will just go to SD and be picked up and fly home the next day...if Chuck wants to go we will, of course to Vegas and drive down. Vegas sounds more fun as we have a daughter et al plus a lot of friends....however. ..I am still recovering from the move here in November and the flight and ensuing visit in January to Vegas for that same daughter's 50th b'day and family reunion...at any rate maybe this pill works and if not unfill in about a month. Let's face it...in Pensacola which is about 3 hours away the cost is $165 for office visit, $185 for fill or unfill and $800 for fluroscope! None of this seems to be a problem when compared with the poor woman who had the surgery in Vegas! j reflux banded 3+ years...my reflux is not acid related, I've had that but now under control, it is food or liquid that just bubbles up during the night, resulting in coughing that wakes me up...not very restful sleep...I do all the stuff i.e., 3 pillows, no eat/drink 3-5 hours before going to bed, no spicey et al., anyone w/an idea short of an endoscopy? tx. Guest guest
Joanne,I'm so excited that you "may" have found something to help. I really thought the Aciphex was going to be the ticket! I didn't realize you had a fill still, can I ask how much. I'm sure you have told me and I just forgot - sorry. My first advice when having acid problems is an unfill. Usually acid, means too tight a band. This is such a catch 22 when you are as far away from the awesome Dr. C as you and I are But truly your health is worth the trip. I wish so much that my problem was an unfill, but I haven't had anything in my band for about a year now - wow, I really think it has been a year. UGH!! So for what it is worth, I would do the unfill before doing another RX. I thought an unfill; You had asked a while ago about vitamins. I take a multivitamin, OPC-3, and B. I order it from www.marketamerica.com/youarebeautiful This is a great lady and I love her products! By putting my (then 2 yr old), on these products I was able to get him OFF of steroids, nebulizer, singular. It is good, good stuff that works miracles for our family. I have been able to keep my blood work in check by being on these vitamins, even through my times of liquid's only. Also, you asked about clear liquids after a PB. When I'm on clears - I do chicken broth (swenson in a box) and juice. It is a pretty boring 3 days but worth it to break the cycle of eating, puke, eating, puke. You get the picture :)Take care and let me know how you are! Guest guest
I am not sure about her but at the two week mark I was having issues and my md gave me Protonix. After 24 hours I have had zero issues! On Fri Apr 16th, 2010 10:23 AM PDT wrote: >Hi Joanne, > >You never mentioned the RX that the doctor gave to you? Guest guest
CRAP!!! I just sent you a long response and booo hooo it flew off my screen to never never land. This will be shorter. Name of rx is hyoscyamine sulf for spasms of GI. Doc believes it will do the trick. Fingers crossed. I plan to have an unfill end of May or early June. Will fly to Vegas visit friends/family and drive down to Mexicali. Dr. Nye in Pensacola charges $165 for office visit, $185 for fill/unfil and $800 for fluro!! we have two free passes on SW and that airline will be flying out of PCB 5/23 to Vegas!! This bubbling up stuff is so bad becuz it occurs several times a night waking me up w/violent coughing becuz I have inhaled the fluid ...not quite like acid reflux which I have experienced also. An interesting aspect re this bubbling up is that several of my friends here and in Vegas experience this as well...women who have not had WLS. Then last week I remembered my mother telling me about it, being scared that she felt like she was drowning...so maybe nothing to do w/the lap band but more to do w/age. Whatever...if these pills don't work I will try another one and just hang in there for the few weeks remaining till I see the REAL MAN!! Dr. Campos here I come. Will try the link you suggest for the liquid vitamins but today I found some at CVS, their name brand and will give them a whirl since they are already here. Thanks honey, and let me know how YOU are doing. jb RE: reflux Hi , I have waited to respond till after I saw my internist yesterday... she says there is an rx (which I will pick up today) that deals w/this issue, the bubbling up etc., has to do w/esophagus (sp?) spasms...she gave me one for last night and it worked! hip hip (hips away) hooray!! however, if this does not continue to do the job I have decided to fly to either Vegas or San Diego and go see the dear Dr. C. Guest guest
There is a couple of anwers already Kirsty, did you see them? reflux can come on suddenly for anyone. gets it very badly but no white phlegm, could he have a bug, loads of things going round right now. Vicky Reflux Can anyone tell me what reflux is and what causes it. Can it come on suddenly? My son has been a little bit sick (more like white phlem) quite a few times in the last couple of weeks. Could it be oregano oil doing this? It's our yeast killer? But he has been on this for ages so why this now? May not be reflux but am sure I read on a AC forum about this What can I do of it is? Thanks everyone Kirsty Sent from my iPhone

Guest guest
About taking HcL pills after meals: I take 5 after animal protein meals and it seems to work well. Taking 5 after beans and rice does not seem to work well and I am wondering how many, if any to take after this lower protein type meal.
