Guest guest
Hi Bee, I just bought 2 bottles of the Natural Factors Halibut Liver Oil pills a few weeks ago. Should I not take these now? It doesn't seem to be causing me issues as I've been taking these for over a year but should I not take them anymore? Thanks, Hi everyone, I've revised my iHerb page to remove Natural Factors Halibut Liver Oil for Vitamins A and D, replacing it with Nature's Way - see the Cod Liver Oil section on my iHerb page: http://www.healingnaturallybybee.com/resource/iherb.php That is because Natural Factors replaced natural source Halibut " liver " oil with synthetic forms of vitamin A and D without correcting their label. Guest guest
Hello Bee, I have contacted Nature's Way asking if their product is actually derived from fish liver oil, and not substituted with synthetics, but I am waiting for their answer. On the other hand we can use this product: http://www.iherb.com/Country-Life-Natural-Vitamin-A-D3-10-000-I-U-400-I-U-100-So\ ftgels/10143?at=0. Flax, MS (Nutritionist - Consumer Affairs from Country-life) says that as indicated on the product label and their website, the vitamin A and vitamin D3 in that product are derived from cod liver oil "  Raquel ________________________________ De: Bee <beeisbuzzing2003@...> Para: Enviado: vie,1 abril, 2011 17:55 Asunto: [ ] False Advertising by Natural Factors Company  Hi everyone, I've revised my iHerb page to remove Natural Factors Halibut Liver Oil for Vitamins A and D, replacing it with Nature's Way - see the Cod Liver Oil section on my iHerb page: http://www.healingnaturallybybee.com/resource/iherb.php That is because Natural Factors replaced natural source Halibut " liver " oil with synthetic forms of vitamin A and D without correcting their label. They claimed they had no choice, but false advertising is against the law, so they are making a bad name for all supplement companies by not correcting their label and the listings on many websites like iHerb. Also, we need to contact Nature's Way that their product is actually derived from fish liver oil, and not substituted with synthetics. If someone has time to do this, I would appreciate your help. This makes me very suspicious of all Natural Factors' products, and other supplement companies too. It also makes me question how many supplement companies are doing the same thing. I will be researching other sources for all Natural Factors products, but I could use your help: 1) To find the correct supplements. 2) To contact every company directly, and get confirmation, in writing, that ingredients on their label and listed on all sites that advertise or sell their products, like iHerb, are exactly what is in their product. I also know that drug companies own many supplement companies, so that is another issue. I've already registered my complaint on Natural Factors website, that this is false advertising, but I will also write to my contact at Natural Factors. Guest guest
However, it is okay to take synthetic vitamin A and D in the amounts I recommend, since even synthetic forms could only cause problems if taken in high doses for 6 months. You'd have to take 50,000 IU of vitamin A, and over 2,000 vitamin D or more for it to have any adverse affects on your health. It is good idea to read the messages related to this subject before posting a question. Bee

Thank you for contacting Nature's Way. I looked at Country Life, however it contains soybean oil that may or may not be in the capsule alone, since it is outside the area for the capsule content, i.e. [Gelatin, glycerin, purified water (capsule shell)], soybean oil. NO: Yeast, corn, wheat, gluten, milk, salt, sugar, starch, preservatives or artificial color. Country Life needs to explain the soybean oil, and whether it is only in the capsule itself or inside the capsule along with the cod liver oil. Yes, but it appears that Nature's Way soybean oil is in the softgel itself and not inside, but again we need to check that out. Bee
Guest guest
Hi Bee, Yes, the new bottles I just received does contain the synthetic forms then. My old bottles didn't say that though. I should rephrase my question though. Even though you say it's okay to still take these since it won't do any harm...will my body be missing Vitamin A and D that it actually needs? In the real form? These 4 bottles will last me many months so I don't know if I should try returning them and getting the new kind you recommend instead if I would benefit from this being it wouldn't be synthetic then. Thanks, +++Hi , Read the label to see if it has: Each softgel contains: Vitamin A (palmitate)..............5500 mcg (10,000 IU) Vitamin D2 (ergocalciferol)............. 10 mcg (400 IU) Those are the synthetic forms. However, in Message #103967, March 29th I wrote: However, it is okay to take synthetic vitamin A and D in the amounts I recommend, since even synthetic forms could only cause problems if taken in high doses for 6 months. If it did I would say so! Also, I wrote that the only way synthetic A and D can harm you is IF you take more than 50,000 IU A and over 2,000 IU D per day! Please read more carefully. Guest guest
Thanks for clarifying. I'm not sure why you told me to read more carefully though because I did already read it wouldn't harm me and didn't ask you about that. Sorry if there was confusion. Guest guest
Bee, I don't understand. If synthetic A & D (that is in Natural Factors supplements) won't hurt us, then why are you no longer recommending Natural Factors? I am in the process of contacting Natural Factors, Nature's Life, and Country Life to see if their products are derived from fish oil or synthetics, and if there is soy in the product. I will post again once I hear from all three companies. Also, is it still okay to take Natural Factors Clear Base Vitamin E? > +++Hi , > > > > No. Your body won't be missing A & D. I will post again once I > hear from all three companies. > > Also, is it still okay to take Natural Factors Clear Base Vitamin E? > +++Hi , I did not eliminate taking all Natural Factors products since I've taken them for many years, along with many people on my program who are getting healthy. I got suspicious of their company because " I thought " they had falsely advertised their Mega Halibut Liver Oil product. However, I just got off the phone after a very long conversation with Customer Service at Natural Factors. First, Natural Factors' head office, located in British, Columbia, Canada, including their production facilities and liquid extraction plants. They have Eastern offices in Mississauga, Ontario, and serve customers throughout the USA from their US Sales & Distribution Center in Everett, Washington. International Sales are handled from head office. Evidently Natural Factors did not falsely advertise their Halibut Liver Oil supplement. That is because the name on their label, which is " Mega Halibut Liver Oil " (notice Mega) is considered a special name, not used by any other supplement company, that is highly regulated in Canada. It says Mega because it is a higher therapeutic dose of vitamins, so the Name itself allows them to mix synthetic and halibut liver oil or use all synthetic. This is most important to remember: People on my program are getting healthy taking the Natural Factors products I recommend in recommended doses, so no one, not even myself, has been harmed! Whenever Natural Factors uses soybean oil they process and distill it in their own plant, but I'm still trying to get more details on how they process soybean oil. Regarding GMO soybeans, I received this email from Customer Service about: " All Natural Factors products are highly purified and stabilized. Our Quality Control Department advises that at this time we are unable to guarantee that all products are non-GMO but we are working with our quality suppliers to find sources that we can guarantee as such. Currently non-GMO products include Natural Factors Clear Base Vitamin E (codes 1444, 1445). Non-GMO is marked clearly on the bottle of these products. However, they verified on the phone that it was made from soybeans. This is on their website: " At Natural Factors, we take the quality, purity and efficacy of our products very seriously. From the growing or sourcing of our raw materials to the finished, packaged goods, we follow a rigorous process that ensures our customers receive only the best products. In today's global economy, economic interdependence dictates that only countries that can produce raw materials efficiently and cost effectively will survive. This means that supply sources may shift over time. Some materials can be obtained from dozens of countries while others from perhaps only one. Both good and poor quality ingredients can be found, regardless of the country of origin. Quality depends on a variety of factors, including the profile of the supplier or intermediary, and the characteristics of the raw material itself. NOTE>>> Regardless of where an ingredient is sourced, the onus is on us to ensure that the ingredient passes all our stringent criteria for quality, purity, and efficacy. We are an industry leader in this area. We have an extensive team of scientists, many of whom are experts in their field, whose job it is to do just that. We have fully qualified and competent R & D labs, Quality Control, Quality Assurance and Product Development groups. Over 50 scientists work in these and other departments to ensure that we produce impeccable products guaranteed to be safe and efficacious. " Regardless of what they say, I must repeat this: People on my program are getting healthy taking the Natural Factors products I recommend in recommended doses, so no one, not even myself, has been harmed! I'm not willing to spend more time, making this more complicated than it needs to be. So my conclusions are: " All Natural Factors Products, including Mega Halibut Liver Oil, are very safe and effective in the doses I recommend, so let's not " re-invent the wheel " (so to speak). Guest guest
I just received a new bottle of Natural Factors Mega Halibut Liver Oil. Based on the list of ingredients, the soybean oil is in the liquid center. There is glycerin in the softgel. I know Bee says people have been getting healthy taking Natural Factors products, but has this product had glycerin and soybean oil in it for years or was it just recently added? Has anyone checked with the company yet? Thanks. Josh > > > > Bee, did you notice that the Nature's Way contains soybean oil? It's listed in the ingredients on the webpage. > > +++Hi . Thanks. > +++Hi Josh, Last week I had a long conversation with my contact at Natural Factors, that I reported in a message on the group - maybe you can find it, since I don't have time this morning. They were not falsely advertising their Mega Halibut Liver Oil as I originally thought, since " Mega Halibut Liver Oil " is their special brand name. There is natural glycerin which isn't a problem, unlike unnatural glycerin, as explained by Ed on this group many times. The bottom line IS: Everyone on this program, including myself, have been doing great taking all of the Natural Factors products I recommend, so let's not try to fix something that isn't broken. All the best, Bee
