Guest guest
> > How much Betaine HCl is it possible to take in one setting without doing damage to the lining of the stomach? I currently take 1500-3000mg. +++Hi . Some people have taken even more HCl and it hasn't caused damage to their stomach lining. That's why it is important to take it after meals as instructed. Keep increasing the amount until you get heartburn which you can easily settle by taking 1/4 tsp baking soda in water, and then take one less HCl for meals after that. > > Also, if the stomach has difficulty producing enough HCl is it possible that it can not produce enough sodium bicarbonate? If it can't, should we be taking Arm and Hammer baking soda after meals as well. If so,how much would be recommendable? +++It is possible, but you shouldn't take baking soda unless you have to, i.e. when you get heartburn, since it is sodium which is diuretic and makes your body lose water along with important minerals. There are other areas where the body produces baking soda. > > My heartburn after meals is something I would really like to solve in the next little while but is causing me problems at the moment since I ran out of my HCl. I had been taking Pharmax for brand (2-3 capsules after meals) for the last 6 months without any problems and was the only thing that settled my stomach. > > Previous to this, a Lilies of the Desert - Herbal Stomach formula with aloe vera juice and herbs did the trick (I can't remember if I took HCl at the time). +++It is important you get more HCl ASAP OR consume 1/2 cup of sauerkraut with every meal. Whenever you get heartburn eat some sauerkraut since it raises stomach acid when it is too low and it lowers it if it is too high. > > If I can not find a good remedy, I will have to go back on Nexium in the interim which I hope I do not have to do. +++I've helped many people get off drugs like Nexium by eating sauerkraut, which takes at least 3 weeks, but you have to eat some every time your stomach hurts, so you need to take a jar of it with you everywhere. > > I heard that if your fingernails get soft, that that is a good indication that you are not producing enough HCl. I know this sounds crazy, but my fingernails do lose strength and become brittle sometimes - especially after eating a meal. How can this be if the fingernails are just dead material without access to a blood source?? Is their somesort of energy flow (Chi) in the body that affects our hair and fingernails too? Strange. +++Fingernails are not dead material, any more than hair or teeth are dead material. They all have access to a blood supply through tiny capillaries. However, toxins make all of the body's cell membranes rigid/stiff so that means red blood cells too. Under normal conditions, red blood cells carry oxygen throughout the body [along with nutrients]; red blood cells must be flexible enough to squeeze down to about one-seventh their normal size in order to travel into the body's tiny capillaries. However toxins cause red blood cell walls to become more rigid/stiff. As a result, red blood cells have difficulty squeezing into the tiny capillaries, and the transport of life-giving oxygen to all the tissues and organs of the body are impaired. Deprived of sufficient oxygen, these tissues and organs lose their ability to function. See Toxins Cause Cell Membrane Defects for more information: http://www.healingnaturallybybee.com/articles/cabout1.php Mainly your fingernails get soft due to toxins and a lack of minerals, mainly calcium and magnesium, so ensure you are taking the correct amounts of cal/mag and 1.5 teaspoons of ocean sea salt per day, along with all of the other supplements. Of course all nutrients work together. All the best, Bee
