HCl dosage and bicarbonate

How much Betaine HCl is it possible to take in one setting without doing damage

to the lining of the stomach? I currently take 1500-3000mg.

Also, if the stomach has difficulty producing enough HCl is it possible that it

can not produce enough sodium bicarbonate? If it can't, should we be taking Arm

and Hammer baking soda after meals as well. If so,how much would be

recommendable?

My heartburn after meals is something I would really like to solve in the next

little while but is causing me problems at the moment since I ran out of my HCl.

I had been taking Pharmax for brand (2-3 capsules after meals) for the last 6

months without any problems and was the only thing that settled my stomach.

Previous to this, a Lilies of the Desert - Herbal Stomach formula with aloe

vera juice and herbs did the trick (I can't remember if I took HCl at the time).

If I can not find a good remedy, I will have to go back on Nexium in the interim

which I hope I do not have to do. :(

I heard that if your fingernails get soft, that that is a good indication that

you are not producing enough HCl. I know this sounds crazy, but my fingernails

do lose strength and become brittle sometimes - especially after eating a meal.

How can this be if the fingernails are just dead material without access to a

blood source?? Is their somesort of energy flow (Chi) in the body that affects

our hair and fingernails too? Strange.

> I looked up Pharmax brand Betaine HCl and 1 capsule contains 750 mg betaine -

is this it?

should change it. It is possible you are reacting to other things in other

products, but they aren't necessarily good healing reactions.
