Guest guest
I have known about the magnesium - calcium ratio for over 10 years. There are 2 or 3 calcium products with the " right " ratio " on the market. Years ago I asked one of the salesman why the lack of calcium supplements with more magnesium in it. His answer - LACK OF DEMAND. As far as boron, if you consume the amount of veggies recommends, you will get about 20mg a day or more. In a tablet you get 3mg. Vitamin D?Spend some time in the sun or take a tablet every few days. love http://www.foodforyourblood.com Calcium/Magnesium After reading the emails on Ca/Mag ratios, I checked what I had in my fridge. CalMax = 2:1 = 400mg Cal, 200mg Mag w/ Vita C CalAbsorb = 2:1 = 500mg Cal, 250mg Mag w/ Vita C & D These are powdered formulas. However, even when I've used tablets the ratio is the same, I believe, 2:1, more Cal than Mag. Should it be the other way around? BTW, I was also told at one time, that Cal/Mag must be taken w/ vita D and boron to be properly absorbed.
Guest guest
Thanks Kathy and Irene for the cal/mag info. I find all this supplement stuff complicated and bewildering. I found some magnesium powder you mix with hot water called " Natural Calm " by Gillham brand. It's described as a " highly absorbable magnesium citrate " .... nothing else in there. The health food store had some advertising material that was convincingly written for this brand, I don't know where i put it now. I hate to swallow pills, so that was appealing. I put some juice in with it, and some vit. C powder in with it and take it in the morning. I have been constipated, so this has helped. The people I described as " anti-supplment " in my earlier post are not mainstream types, as in go to a doctor and take drugs. They are wholistic types who believe in natural foods, they think that you should get your nutrition from whole foods, not pills. I find that idea very appealing. I'm still thinking it over. Thanks everybody. Tamara __________________________________________________
Guest guest
I use Calm also. It is a Magnesium Citrate in powdered form. I add the powdered MSM after I bring the liquid back to room tempreture and I've thought about putting it in the blender and adding my KAL nutritional yeast, just to be sure I'm getting the B's I need. Guest guest
Hey there, Bee. Thanks again for answering my other questions. I received some more of my supplements today. I now have my calcium and magnesium. I will be starting on these tomorrow when you will be reading this. Here is yet another question for you... I have the Nature's Way Calcium Citrate which in one capsule is 250 mgs. Then I have the NOW Magnesium Citrate which is 200 mgs in one capsule. The Calcium ones are a powder inside a clear capsule and the magnesium ones are a hard tablet. It says on your website to start out with 300 mgs of each twice a day. Neither of those supplements are that serving size so what is the best way to get 300 mgs??? If I break the magnesium ones in half then I can take one and a half and have the 300 mgs. But the powdered ones would be a bit more difficult. I won't be able to tell how much is 50 mgs more. Is it okay to just take one and a half Magnesium (300 mgs) and then take one of the calcium which would be 250 mgs??? Unless you can think of a better way of splitting it up. Is it absolutely mandatory to have those exact amounts??? If I start dry skin brushing and epsom salt baths at the same time this week will that trigger serious healing reactions??? I also looked up a whole bunch of the posts here about gaining weight on this diet (which I do NOT want to do) and I just want to make sure that I have something clear... I have never had any weight issues. I have pretty much been the same size for about 12 years. And before that I was just slightly skinnier but pretty much my whole life I've been the same size. I AM, however, overweight for my height range. I am 5'7 " and I weigh probably about 160 right now. I was actually at 152 when I was sick with the C. Diff toxin. I lost 22 pounds in 7 weeks!!! But I think that since the toxin has remained dormant I have started to gain weight back and I would guess that I am back at 160. Before that, I was 175 pretty much for the past decade or so. So, having said that, is it safe to assume that I will lose weight on this diet as long as a) I don't cheat. Have not taken birth control (which I haven't) c) Have not had serious emotional issues connected to my weight (I'm assuming you mean things like anorexia, bulimia, etc.) d) Make sure to stay low on the carbs and high on the good fats Thanks again, Sara

So you can take 2 capsules of magnesium in one dose = 400mg, and one for the other dose, so the total per day is 600 mg. Also you can take 2 calcium in one dose = 500 mg, and about 1/2 of the powder dumped out of the capsule for the other dose = 100 mg, so the total is 600 mg per day. > If I start dry skin brushing and epsom salt baths at the same time this week will that trigger serious healing reactions??? +++I doubt they will, but the first couple of weeks - a month only do a couple a week, and then increase them. > > I also looked up a whole bunch of the posts here about gaining weight on this diet (which I do NOT want to do) and I just want to make sure that I have something clear... > > I have never had any weight issues. If you haven't, eventually your weight would normalize to what it is best for you. All the best, Bee
