Guest guest
, Sorry to hear about your bad news. I was diagnosed 2 years ago approximately. After the birth of my second son dec 1st, 2007. When the baby was 3 months old I started Interferon/rebetrol treatments. Wow talk about hell, post-partum blues and this crap. Anyway I took the treatment for 8 months and my counts (RNA) only dropped 2 million. So needless to say I was unresponsive to treatment. I have genotype 1a/b. Which really sucks. After the treatment was done I had another liver ultrasound. It was normal- go figure. The enzymes still elevated but I feel pretty darn good now. I get tired and occasionally have anger outbursts. I think just the whole process made me nuts. But I am still kicking and I am sober. I am also a nurse and I really really dont believe much in conventional tx anymore lol. I follow and herbalist now. Take things that have antiviral properties that I think might help. I get mad mostly because I am sure there is better treatment in other countries for this problem yet our wonderful pharmacuetic " cartel " has made this interferon very very expensive. hence someone is getting rich off our illness. Most insurance companies will not even pay for it. I am sorry if I sound very negative cause really I feel I am lucky. I started using iv drugs at age 34 stopped into it about a year cause I had nothing left. Now I am trying to live life on lifes terms and care for my children I had after I was 36. and I have the baby that has downs syndrome so I am busy with them most of the time just trying to make the best of a bad situation. At least I am not on the streets trying to sell my shoes for a fix or like others waiting to get a transfusion. So with that I feel blessed and try to look at it that way. I am not totally convinced it was iv drugs anyway. I had some crazy surgeries and blood transfusions also and my doctors tell me you must of used when you were a teenager because you have chronic hepatitis. I did not use anything as a teen but smokes a couple of joints a few times. The coke thing started after 18 years of nursing, 2 abusive husbands and just stuff. But I am back on track now and not " tracts " lol. God bless all and try to keep it simple and dont freak to hard about it cause life is to short for all that stress. I pray for all to slay the dragon!!! JUST DIAGNOSED WOULD IT BE POSSIBLE FOR ME TO TALK TO SOMEONE WHO HAS HAD TREATMENTS. i JUST FOUND OUT YESTERDAY. ANY RESPONSE WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. THANKS

Guest guest
Welcome Donna, What your feeling is the usual for all of us at first but this too shall pass so I say. I laugh a lot ( with my little ones) got out and walked in the hot texas humidity this morning with my 18 month old. I just take things in stride and I dont let this bugger " hep C " destroy my life with my little ones. Yes there are days I feel like crying still and days I get mostly madder than a wet hen. ( usually at the system and stupid quack doctors) But speaking my piece here helps some and knowing we are not alone in this helps too. My suggestion is read about the disease and find a doctor that understands about hep C ( not always easy task) for starters if you can drink tons of water and walk that will help and cut out booze if possible if you cant then seek help. There are a few things that are helpful nutritionally and you can read about the foods good for your liver. There are also supplements and ozonated waters etc.. that are helpful. I take saint john's wart, milk thistle, vitamin C. daily. I did the treatment of interferon. 8 months and it sucked. To put it mildly. My body was not responsive to the treatment. I have the worst genotype 1a/B so more difficult to treat. Probably after it all sinks in you might want to know about your genotype and your viral load or RNA. I know sounds like greek but wow have I learned tons about the 500 functions of our liver. Dont forget there are more people die with HEP C than from it. I just knew I was going to die like 2 weeks into treatment. But there is a reason I am still kicking. I guess my 2 little boys are the best reason of all. So I get up in the morning get the boys up and adam and try living life on lives terms. Mostly in the beginning was a rollacoaster. But it is leveling off now. I was diagnosed April 2006. or maybe it was march-- I suffer from CRS-- cant remember shit!! Anyways. Cry and get it all out and fight like mad this disease is sneaky-- it wants you to be sad and feel bad. It thrives on that. So yell when you need to and cry so you can move on and smile. It is sunshine outside I am not working today yeeha!! life is good. I am always a listening ear I guess it is the nurse in me. HUgs to all and slay the dragon!!! Guest guest
The doctor told me my heart was fine .. that I had this Hep C for a long period of time and was just affecting my immune system. The pains came from a chest wall infection and smoking. So I do not feel you have anything to worry about unless you are a smoker or under alot of stress. But you should have it checked to be safe. When I went in they run all sorts of test to find out why the pains were so persistent. and one of the blood test showed I had Hep C. We are waiting for the rest of the test. I was jaundice an never thought nothing of it a few months back...Leg pains ..Achy muscles Diarrhea ,,,But I put it all off because I was thinking the common flu... When the chest pains came thats when I went to emergency room thinking I was having a heart attack. So if you continue getting these pains plz have your doctor examine you. it could have nothing to do with the Hep C. I wish you well .... Guest guest
donna, I got hep c in 1980. It is a long term illness. you will have good days and bad days where you are just tired and/or depressed. Don'[t let it get u down. Mine just turned to cancer last month and am undergoing all kinds of tests. Personally I ignored it as llong as I could. If the brain thinks your'e sick, you will be. I had the interferon around 15 years ago. I was a non responder so don't worry. Interesting fact, I traveled to Costa Rica, Honduras and Belize searching for a medicine man. I believe in herbs, not western meds. Take lots of milk thistle and stay positive. Guest guest
Hep C goes through 4 stages of psyrosis, then 4 stages of cancer. Right now my platelet count is at 70,000, should be at 400,000 and cancer was detected in blood work. At 40,000 I go to the top of the list for liver teransplant but have decided not to do it. hep c doesn't kill you. your immune system cannot fight off simple things like viruses or colds so wash throurouly after playing with kids, buy stock in hand sanitizers. Patti I would like to know when they start blood transfusions if anyone has the answer to that one. - On Wed, 6/17/09, angeliquekeeler <angelique2230@...> wrote: From: angeliquekeeler <angelique2230@...> Subject: Re: Just Diagnosed Hepatitis C Date: Wednesday, June 17, 2009, 10:46 AM > > From: emily <emily_sweethang@ sbcglobal. net> > Subject: Re: Just Diagnosed > Hepatitis Csupportgr oupgroups (DOT) com > Date: Tuesday, June 16, 2009, 12:47 PM > > Nilda, > > You got it. your right on track. support and reaching out is hard but it works. Guest guest
hi angel, what happens is your blood goes threw your liver to be filered/cleaned,when you have hepc virus the virus comes in contact with the liver because its in you blood and your blood gets filter threw your live so the virus gets in there and makes copies of the virus and in doing that its causing scar tissue on parts of the liver...its the scar tissue that turns into cancer BUT this doesnt mean its going to happen to you or me,that we dont know and thats whe we have to eat like health nuts now and drink tons of lemon water,i also suggest pomagrante juice, the stuff for $10.85 at walmart, thats the real stuff, its in a clear bottle and says POM on the front,i read that pomagrante with studies on mice showed shrinkage of lung tumors so... in that im thinking it would get in all your cells and assist cancer anywhere, just my logic but cant hurt to add it to your daily health plan From: angeliquekeeler <angelique2230@...> Subject: Re: Just Diagnosed Hepatitis C Date: Wednesday, June 17, 2009, 10:46 AM > > From: emily <emily_sweethang@ sbcglobal. net> > Subject: Re: Just Diagnosed > Hepatitis Csupportgr oupgroups (DOT) com > Date: Tuesday, June 16, 2009, 12:47 PM > > Nilda, > > You got it. your right on track. support and reaching out is hard but it works.
