Are you sure it is the Natural Factors brand and that is says Halibut " Liver " Oil on it? They wouldn't be able to label it as Halibut Liver Oil if it contains synthetic Vitamin A and D. Guest guest
Bee, Here is the link to the product I have but I bought it from nationalnutrition.ca http://naturalfactors.com/ca/en/products/312/mega-halibut-liver-oil <http://naturalfactors.com/ca/en/products/312/mega-halibut-liver-oil> I called the company and they said that it does contain synthetic ingredients. I asked why and they said it was because they didn't have a choice but they usually try to use natural ingredients. I'm not very happy. That is very misleading to call something Halibut Liver Oil and use synthetic ingredients. Guest guest
Hi Bee & Becki, Becki... good catch and good job calling the company. My new bottles of Halibut Liver Oil do also state Vitamin A (Palmitate) 10,000 IU and Vitamin D2 (Ergocalciferol) 400 IU on the label. Palmitate: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Palmitic_acid Ergocalciferol: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ergocalciferol Not sure what the standards are for vitamin companies but I'm surprised they haven't included a special label indicating the difference between real Halibut Liver Oil vs synthetic ingredients that have nothing to do with Halibut Liver Oil. It's false advertising. Bee, let us know your thoughts. Thank you in advance. You'd have to take 50,000 IU of vitamin A, and over 2,000 vitamin D or more for it to have any adverse affects on your health. Bee

However, it is okay to take synthetic vitamin A and D in the amounts I recommend, since even synthetic forms could only cause problems if taken in high doses for 6 months. Guest guest
Hi bee, Is this issue with the halibut oil capsules a soy issue as well? I am concerned about this product now & want to get a different product when I run out. Hoping there's not a soy excess worry with the synthetics. Ask them if their synthetic vitamins A and D are derived from soy and whether the soy they use is genetically modified (GMO). If it isn't derived from soy it is okay, and it is even better if it is derived from something else. All the best, Bee
Guest guest
Bee, Can you receommend another fish liver oil capsule that has vitamin A and D (the Natural Factors shark oil you recommend does not contain D)?
