I don't know if this would work in your case, as I wasn't clear if you were experiencing the vomiting as a result of drinking the plain oil and then feeling a gag reflex (which can be helped by drinking with a straw), or whether you just have an intolerance for the oil on an empty stomach, or even if you have stomach problems (ulcer?). I've been eating a whole avocado each lunchtime with this olive oil and balsamic vinegar dressing and have found I've been getting the occasional spontaneous stone and gravel dumping. I am supposing that this would be the equivalent of a " slow flush " protocol. Avocados are packed with the good fats, in addition to being a whole food for your empty stomach and might make the transport of the olive oil a little easier. Vinegar is also great as an anti-inflammatory with antibacterial/viral properties. I make my dressing with these ingredients: 1/3 cup balsamic vinegar 3 tbsps water 1/2 cup extra virgin (first cold pressed) olive oil crushed garlic to taste fresh basil to taste (The dressing is enough for 2 to 3 avocados, as I just splash it on) It may also be a worthwhile and tasty test to see if you just have an intolerance to the oil, or whether it's just a reflex reaction on an empty stomach. The flush protocol I used encouraged breaking the fast on flush day at 7pm with strawberries and heavy cream, which also worked, but I have a feeling that the avocado and dressing would work as well, if not better. Vinegar has similar ascetic properties to lemon juice and may well act as a decent substitute. Blessings, n
Guest guest
Will, you're such a hoot! Thanks for the smile. >>>Unless I hear otherwise, I assume this is all you eat for your lunch meal and that you do it every day for a run of days. Right?<<< Gosh, I must sound terribly knowledgeable with this, but, to be honest, it's been trial and error since my first surprise stone dump. Unless I run out of avocados or having lunch out, I make sure to eat one a day, at lunch, on an empty stomach, with lots of the dressing. If I'm particularly hungry, though, I will add something healthy like a green, or mixed salad, or veggie soup. Have also been including radishes and nuts and sometimes just snack on those in the afternoon. >>>Do you drink any beverages or take any other supplements around the lunch time or just the salad?<<< Well, normally I take the majority of my supplements first thing in the morning with a fruit/soy smoothie (otherwise I forget). At night, with dinner, I take lecithin and milk thistle. Before bed, I take flax seed oil. Well, she says red-faced, my English background gets the better of me and I do love my Tetley's British Blend tea, though I am now trying to wean myself onto drinking more green, chamomile and ginger/lemon teas (such blasphemy! LOL). I'm also substituting organic apple juice for soft drinks and drink 3 to 4 glasses a day, as well as plain water. Anyway, as I say, it's really been just a question of going with what my body tells me. If I'm not too hungry, I'll just have the avocado for lunch...if not, then just something healthy to fill the gap in addition to that. It's probably even better to spread out 3 meals into smaller ones 5 or 6 times a day, just as hunger arises, but that's a little more tricky for me with a ravenous family to feed. As advised with pregnancy, smaller, more frequent meals seems to relieve the bloating and keeps the furnace burning at a more steady rate. >>>I assume it's OK to add some good French sea salt to the salad as well.<<< Well, unless you have BP, kidney, or heart problems, then anything in moderation should be okay, wouldn't you think? I will use a little salt, occasionally, for flavouring and sea salt is the best, but have completely eliminated salt from the actual cooking process. I just haven't been able to switch over to all raw, just yet. I think I'd have a full rebellion on my hands. As it is, I'm still getting looks of disgust from the kids when I put fish on the table several times a week. LOL Just as an aside....a handy item we picked up, a while back, was a Vita-Mix blender. I wasn't sure I'd use it much when we first bought it and it was costly compared to regular blenders, but it is now indispensable, because there is little or no preparation with fruits and veg. Once organic foods are thoroughly washed, you just chuck everything into this machine...skins, seeds and all (plus any herbs, spices, seasonings)... and leave it to blend for about 5 minutes and you have piping hot soup. It's highly recommended for anyone planning a macrobiotic diet and many cancer patients have found it to be a boon to otherwise fussy food preparations. http://www.vitamix.com/household/ Blessings, n
Guest guest
Lorie, I would suggest you repeat your cleansing with the apple juice fast and then just take the epsom salts for the flush. You should get a complete flush without the oil or whatever components that make you vomit. Worth a try anyway. Epsom salts dilate the bile ducts and really do create " movement " . If you are feeling GB sensations, your instincts are probably correct and you should begin preventative work now. If you are not doing it already, you could also initiate a stone DISSOLVING plan using plenty of malic acid (apple juice), and either Western or Chinese herbs. Make sure you are correcting the TRUE CAUSES of the problem in your life: 1) Get thin (slowly) if you are fat 2) Exercise at least 30-60 minutes every day 3) Eat plenty of fibrous, green healthy food 4) Watch your sugar intake 5) Eat plenty of healthy fats (eggs, butter, grass-fed meat, wild fish) 6) Avoid the trans fats and other liver toxins. 7) Stress management (yoga, massage, therapy, whatever) 8) Breathing exercises 9) Drink 8 glasses of water a day Our livers are FORCING us to get healthy!! Guest guest
n, BLESS YOU for what may soon be called ---- " n's Magic Bullet Gallstone Cure " ---- it can be in your upcoming book! I LOVE good organic avocados, and I love basalmic vinegar and olive oil. We've made an art out of finding the best buys in vinegar (99% aren't really basalmic, and the real stuff is like buying jewels!) and in finding good extra virgin olive oil. When you eat the real stuff it truly does feel like medicine. Healing food. I'm going to try your Avocado Technique and I hope enough others on this site will do as well. We can call it a CLINICAL TRIAL and then make you famous if it works for us as well as it does for you. Unless I hear otherwise, I assume this is all you eat for your lunch meal and that you do it every day for a run of days. Right? Do you drink any beverages or take any other supplements around the lunch time or just the salad? I assume it's OK to add some good French sea salt to the salad as well. Guest guest
Hi Will, Thank you for your info & help. This is the recipe I followed when I tried my last flushing: 4 glasses of apple juice for the first 5 days. On the sixth day, take no dinner. At 6 pm take a teaspoon of Epsom salt w/a glass of warm water. at 8 pm repeat the same. at 10 pm take half cup of olive oil w/half cup of fresh lemon juice. Mix it well and drink it. I took the epsom salt. it gave me diahrrea & my stomach was churning. I drank the 4 glasses of apple juice for 6 days. Also, i use pasteurized organic apple juice. I have changed most of diet or eating habits. i used to eat a lot of fried foods, I don't anymore. Also, I found out I cannot eat anything w/gluten or drink grape juice. I don't know yet if these are related to my having gallstones. After my 1st and only (so far) successful flushing I was sent by my doctor to have another ultrasound if the condition of my gallbladder had improved, it hasn't. I have lost a lot of weight because I don't eat as much as I do, but i am not heavy. i try to walk 15-30 mins on weekdays at my lunch hour. i will try the suggestions & info I got from this wonderful group of people. I will try to do another flush next week, hopefully. Guest guest
Hi n, Thank you for your help & info. I just bought 4 avocados yesterday, & i will try your dressing recipe. I will try to do another flushing next week. I have been drinking apple juice since Friday. I think my problem w/the olive oil is the taste of olive oil. The taste lingers in the mouth. When I did my unsuccessfull flushing, the smell of the oil even lingered on my nose. First I will do the avocado flushing, then I will try mixing the grapefruit juice & olive oil in a blender to make the mixture watery as suggested by G & K Murray, and using the straw as what Ti Na said. And like what Will said, I need to do another flushing as I can still feel that sensation on my gallbladder as I type this reply. Does the gallbladder get emptied of stones? Blessing, too.
