Guest guest
I did oil pulling this morning for the first time using safflower oil. It did turn frothy and white like the eggwhite in the beginning of vigorous beating. I coughed out mucous and blew my nose three times like i had a runny nose then it stopped. Bothsides of my cheeks beside my mouth hurt when a bit of pressure is applied, after the pulling, it was gone. --- Coconut Oil wrote: --------------------------------- coconut oil open forum coconut oil open forum Messages In This Digest (25 Messages) 1a. Guest guest
I use sunflower oil and I think this technique is amazing. My skin has been horrible since I moved to Florida 3 yrs ago. I did this faithfully for about a month and my skin cleared up before my eyes. From what I have read, the most effective are sesame and sunflower oil, refined. I tried sesame oil first and it was horrible but sunflower oil has no flavor. I have used Coconut oil and I didn't like it, plus I wanted to use what I heard was the most effective. I hope this helps. Have you looked at www.earthclinic.com ? Lots of testemonials and natural cures. That is were I heard about coconut oil. Guest guest
I use Sunflower Oil, now I am not sure if it is in my mind or not (placebo effect ?), however I have successfully used it for headaches, toothaches and it gives your mouth and teeth an excellent feel afterwards, so I carry on using it. I very rarely take any medication unless my headache is one of the real blinders where nothing seems to help and I have important meetings to attend where swishing oil in the boardroom would be frowned upon. Guest guest
Hi Nicolle, I couldn't imagine doing this with coconut oil, tastes too strong... But this morning I did this oil pulling with sunflower and it wasn't as bad as I feared it would be. While spitting it out after 5 minutes or so, I almost threw up though... I do have a question: what do you do just afterwards? I rinsed my mouth several times with water... greetings, Vera in Belgium > > > > > > > > I keep coming across a technique called 'oil pulling' where you put a > > tablespoon of oil in your mouth every morning, swish it around for ten > > minutes, and spit it out. Guest guest
( I'm not sure if I posted this yet or not, so here it is) I decided to try oil pulling last Saturday as opposed to an antibiotic. I have an infection in my jaw bone from a bad crown placed a year ago. I looked like a chipmunk and was in alot of pain. I pulled twice Saturday, three times Sunday and three times a day since. By Monday morning my jaw was normal and I could chew on that side for the first time in months. I still have a lump in the bone but no more pain. I don't know if it does everything else it claims, but i know it took my infection away. Guest guest
It seemed a little stonrg at first, but I love the taste of sesame oil now. But a whole tablespoon? I can't get that much into my mouth, and still work it. I jsut put in a tiny swig, and then the amount, mixed with saliva grows, and grows. Is a tablespoon actually necessary? Guest guest
Hi Inga, maybe what I called a tablespoon is something else than what I meant. I mean a spoon with which you eat soup, which is, in Belgium at least, about 15ml. Sorry if it is the wrong word, but English is not my motherlanguage. greetings, Vera in Belgium > > But a whole tablespoon? I can't get that much into my mouth, and > still work it. Guest guest
Hi Inga, Vera - 15ml is the same as a tablespoon. One teaspoon is 5ml. 3 tsp=1TAB. I too, wondered how I would swish so much for so long with the saliva growing? Re: Oil Pulling Hi Inga, maybe what I called a tablespoon is something else than what I meant. Guest guest
I did have to work up to a whole tablespoon, I started with one teaspoon and then 2 and then finally 3. From what I have read, the stuff you spit out is very toxic, I spit in the toilet and then brush my teeth and maybe a mouthwash. I read that refined is ok for this process. I am not an expert but have read a few sites and I am a believer. Guest guest
Hi Jill, I have spent the past few days researching oil pulling and just tried it for the first time this morning (not as bad as I thought). All of the sites and information I accessed recommended using COLD-PRESSED sunflower or sesame oil, and stated that the next best thing was to use REFINED sunflower or sesame. I found sunflower oil in the health food section of a grocery store (s in Upstate NY), though it was the third grocery store I looked in. The information recommended only these two oils, stating that other oils were not as effective. I had hoped to use coconut oil since I love it so much, but it apparently does not work well for this purpose. > > What type of sunflower oil are you supposed to use? Guest guest
hi fellow oil-pullers, I've been doing this for less than a week, once before breakfast. This morning when I weighed myself, I saw that in that week I have lost 1,5kg (I have a lot of overweight, so that is really welcome). Besides the oil pulling, the only thing that changed in my diet is that I now drink most of my water about half an hour before meals. Is losing weight an effect of oil-pulling? greetings, Vera in Belgium
