Guest guest
Hi Will, Gosh, all this stuff about black tea and coffee not being good for us, but still having beneficial effects, has my head in a spin at times. I love coffee, as well, but no longer use the caffeinated version, as it makes my heart race. Tea doesn't seem to have the same effect, for some reason, even though it's supposed to have more caffeine in it. Go figure. I never have been able to work that one out. I also heard that the tannin, or tannic acid, in black tea is very good for protecting the stomach against cancer and also in the healing of ulcers. My ol' Dad, also a vet, once recommended cold, black tea for my Labrador to help her through a bout of diarrhea (caused by parasites picked up in a kennel). Thanks for all your insights on the soy, too. I can't stand the stuff (soy milk) taken straight, anyway, but my chiro said it would be a good thing to substitute it for milk for its phytoestrogens. For calcium, he also said we get more from green veg intake (particularly spinach). It sounds like the same ol' - same ol', as with tea and coffee, doesn't it? With all the mixed messages out there, how is any sane person supposed to make sense of all these seeming contradictions? I will definitely look up Mercola's info on it, as you suggest, and I also found the article to which I think you may be referring? www.chetday.com/soy.html What do you reckon, Will, with the following site? It's recommendation of soy, as a beneficial thing for gall bladder, was based on diet studies done in Australia. www.chem-tox.com/gallstones Thanks for your great insights, yet again. )) Blessings, n
