Guest guest
My honest opinion...EAT!!! It looks like you only really ate 1 GOOD meal and breakfast.....adding another smaller-type lo-cal/lo-fat meal would do you good!! Something like a small chef salad with a tiny dinner roll and nonfat dressing. Ive honestly found that if you restrict your caloric intake tooo far...you WONT lose weight. Youre body becomes threatened. At a higher weight your body actually NEEDS more calories to run....your running your poor engine on fumes. Eating healthy is the KEY...your diet looked good really but you need more. Maybe instead of 6 meatballs which really boosted your fat intake...only 3-4 wouldve done ok on a smaller roll and adding some fresh fruit or veggies or a salad.Even a small stack off low-fat pringles or pretzels to allow that " junk-food " edge. JMHO here...it looks like a really good start!! Way to go!! Leann > If someone could check out my fitday for april 15th and evaluate the fat and > so on and tell me what I should be at. Guest guest
Hi Serenity. It took me a good couple of days to understand it but once I started entering my own foods that helped alot. It is a pretty great site once you get the hang of it. Just start by entering your own foods and you'll see how fast you catch on. Donna H fitday Okay.. I'm giving this site another try. For those of you who use it, how long did it take for you to really get it whipped into shape and the foods you eat programmed into it? I.e., how long should I attempt to have patience? I'm not really interested in counting my calories every day.. I'm just curious Serenity -- http://www.theonion.com

Guest guest
Serenity - Sure you can ... just figure out the stats on each ingredient - add 'em up - give the recipe a name and enter it under that. It'll take a few minutes the first time but after that you just have to use the name of the recipe and voila! Rita Re: fitday Donna H wrote: > Hi Serenity. Guest guest
So all you're skipping is the adding them up! Which would take what? 1 minute? lol Re: fitday ribar wrote: > Serenity - Sure you can ... just figure out the stats on each ingredient - add 'em up - give the recipe a name and enter it under that. Guest guest
good. Re: fitday ribar wrote: > So all you're skipping is the adding them up! Which would take what? 1 minute? lol Well, I'd like to skip it. It would make for easier recipe modification but I've figured out a way to cobble together the functionality that I'd like. Guest guest
The only thing it did to me that I didn't like was when I would click on a custom food it would come up in some arbitrary serving size that would screw up the percentages unless I caught it. If in a hurry sometimes I missed it. Now it's a pain to go back and re-enter those custom portion sizes all the time. But I still use it on occasion to make sure I'm still on track. Guest guest
Stasia, I found that happens, too. But I've learned to check to make sure the size is correct ... it is a PITA tho! lol Rita Re: fitday The only thing it did to me that I didn't like was when I would click on a custom food it would come up in some arbitrary serving size that would screw up the percentages unless I caught it. Guest guest
www.fitday.com ROCKS! I know on BLF you aren't supposed to count calories; but I am obsessive about it; and that way I can see what my carb/protein/fat ratio is. It's a great site. Good luck! phyl6_nz wrote:Hi Im a lurker as well here and am curious as to what the fitday is that people are meantioning every now and then? Guest guest
The right balance is roughly 40% protein, 40% carbs, 20% fat at each meal. There are varying degrees of obsessiveness. The palm/fist method in the book will put you in the ballpark. Or if you're reading labels, just shoot for roughly equal portions of protein and carbs at each meal. Or if you really want to get detailed, here's the formula (stolen directly from Joni). How Much Should I Be Eating Per Day? Here is a brief overview of how to figure out how much you should be eating per day. To determine your daily caloric intake, take your current body weight and multiply by: 8-10 if you are mostly interested in losing body fat 12 if you want to gain muscle and lose fat 15 if you want to gain muscle (Example: 150 x 10 = 1500) *Note don't assume you only want to lose bodyfat! For every pound of muscle you gain, you can add 50 more calories a day! Muscle is the body's natural fatburning furnace so if your daily calories seem way low, aim for building some muscle!* The Body For Life program is a 40/40/20 eating ratio meaning that 40% of your daily calories come from protein, 40% of your daily calories come from carbs and 20 % of your daily calories comesfrom fat. So as an example: 1500 x .40 = 600 calories from protein 1500 x .40 = 600 calories from carbs 1500 x .20 = 300 calories from fat Now remember this: 1 gram of protein = 4 calories, 1 gram of carbs = 4 calories and 1 gram of fat = 9 calories. Then convert the above figures to grams: 600 divided by 4 calories per gram = 150 grams of protein 600 divided by 4 calories per gram = 150 grams of carbs 300 divided by 9 calories per gram = 33.3 grams of fat (The above is a daily total) Now break it down per meal ~ Body for Life requires 6 small meals: 150 grams divided by 6 = 25 grams of protein per meal 150 grams divided by 6 = 25 grams of carbs per meal 33.3 grams divided by 6 = 5.5 grams of fat per meal So in this example, you would be eating 25 grams EACH of protein & carbs per BFL minimeal & 5.5 grams of fat! And the way to do this? PLAN! Plan out all your meals and you wont be tempted to stray off course! fitday Hi Im a lurker as well here and am curious as to what the fitday is that people are meantioning every now and then? Also what is the right balance of carbs, protein and fats at each meal? cheers Phyl p.s any other kiwis on this site?

If you don't already know the nutritional stats for a recipe, then yes, you would have to enter each ingredient to get the totals, then you can add it as a custom food. The Golden Pancakes from the EFL cookbook are 262 calories, 2 grams of fat, 43 carbs and 31 grams of protein. That's 1 serving or 1/2 of the batter. Guest guest
Welcome, Alice! (My favorite grandmother's name) > I'm pretty sure I'm going to to ask for a refund for the > pc FitDay (fortunatly they have a return policy) unless any of you > out there can offer me a reason not to. I don't use it so didn't even know they *had* a home pc version of it. I use Mastercook recipe manager (Http://www.mastercook.com) to figure out all the nutritional information. If there's an ingredient I use that's not in their database, it's easy to just add it. With all the vegetarian foods I use, I use that feature a lot. The latest is version 8, and costs around $20. Also, do any of you check > each others online journals and/or food reports? Now and then members will post their daily food log, but it's not a steady thing here. A lot of women complained that what they eat is their business and nobody needs to know. Others, like me, usually eat similar foods each day so it gets pretty boring seeing the same stuff over and over. > So I don't make this message too long Oh, *never* worry about doing *that*! Guest guest
Welcome Alice. I use the on-line version of Fit Day to track calories. I like it just fine. I don't have the PC version so dunno about that. I love that I can be so accurate in Fit Day with little work. I can enter the nutritional info from a box of cereal then I can just enter the number of grams I ate to get an accurate count. No fudging on heaping up the measuring cup. Guest guest
Welcome Alice I like the online version of fitday because I never know where I'll be checking in from LOL. At least one of the gals also uses the PC version. Use whatever works best for you - something you'll be faithful too. It's all I can do to get through emails so I don't check out other members stuff - though someone here was posting the url to her journal - brave soul <GBG>. Guest guest
, I just checked it out and it's $29.95. Is that correct? Someone else told me about it but I've never looked until now. You can track what you eat without having to be online, it tracks your weight loss goals, does charting, tells you how many calories you need to eat and how much you need to exercise in order to loose so many pounds per week to get to your goal. I just thought I would share this wonderful software in case someone else out there wanted to try it. Well I am glad I got it for $19.95 but that is sad they changed the price for the rest of you! I still say it is worth it. Re: Fitday , I just checked it out and it's $29.95. Is that correct?
