Guest guest
don't use baking soda. It absorbs the scent of the fragrance. Kind of like it kills the odors in your fridge.

Guest guest
> Powdered milk bath People make these in two basic ways ... a blend of powdered milk and cornstarch, and a blend of powdered milk and powdered handcrafted soap (with or without cornstarch). Other ingredients I've seen added include citric acid, baking soda, herbs, and finely ground oatmeal. It's a matter of trying varying combinations of ingredients and seeing what you (or your guines pigs ... err ... I mean friends/family who test stuff for you) like best. I make the milk/soap blend and haven't had any complaints yet. I usually use a soap that goes with the milk I'm using ... for example, goat milk soap with powdered goat milk. Here's my base recipe: 1 part powdered handcrafted soap 1 part powdered milk 1/2 part finely ground oatmeal 1/4 part cornstarch I put it either in a large jar and shake, or a large bowl and mix (carefully) with a wire whisk, depending on how much I'm making. Scenting is optional, and you can use either essential or fragrance oils. NightShade
Guest guest
> What does cp/hp mean? CP and HP refer to the method used to make soap. CP is cold-processed, meaning the ingredients are allowed to saponify naturally and without added heat. HP is hot-processed, meaning the saponification is forced through " cooking " the soap. CP soap requires up to 48 hours (depending on batch size) for saponification, and then it must cure for several weeks before it can be used. HP will be fully saponified when you pour it into the mold, and the soap can be used as soon as you cut it (although letting it cure for a week or two to allow any remaining excess water to evaporate out is a good idea). Guest guest
Hi Shirley Ann: I have been working on a " Cream " bath that may interest you: 1 cup powdered milk (try to get whole milk if possible, found in grocery stores in the baking section) 1/4 cup powdered non-dairy creamer (yes!) adds moisturizing benefits 1/4 cup baking soda (softens the water) 2 tb. cornstarch (keeps powder lump free) If desired add 6-10 drops fragrance (vanilla is nice) Mix well and bottle. Use 1/2 to 1 cup per bath Now you can probably see where I'm going with this: Oatmeal and Cream Bath Add 1/2 cup colloidal oatmeal to the above recipe (sub. finely powdered and sifted oatmeal) Peaches (or Strawberry, Blueberry, etc.) and Cream Bath Add 5 drops vanilla f.o. and 5 drops peach f.o. to the above recipe Good luck...let us know how it turns out! :-) Cat >^-.-^< > Hi, all I have to say again I'm learning so much from this group. Guest guest
Just going thru the old emails from when I got back from Alaska. Before I left Tx on the 21st of Feb we gave a massage party and one of the gifts I made to give everyone was made from Dairy Creamer and EO's--- different ones I had on hand. Each one smelled different. They were a hit. I did not have powdered milk on hand so just used the creamer. Glitz Re: Milk Bath > Cat, You amaze me! Guest guest
Wow...that's great! I'll bet it was really rich, too! I have also heard of a powdered dairy cream called " Creme Polvo " , found in Latin markets...I will definitely let you all know if I manage to find it! ;-) Cat >^-.-^< > Just going thru the old emails from when I got back from Alaska. Guest guest
Awhile back, someone else asked if anyone knew what the scent was. My impression was: vanilla (main scent), almond (for the " honey " note), and maybe a touch of rose or orange blossom...the last was very subtle, but definitely a floral nuance. Hope this helps! :-) Cat > Does anyone here have a recipe that smells like the Milk Bath made by Burt's > Bees Bath Bath? It lists just " fragrance " on the package. I know it is > powdered milk. Guest guest
Hello, I have a couple questions today, thoughts on a milk bath. Prior to going on the candida diet i would take a bath and then rub warm whole milk on my body and later rinse off. It made my skin very soft. I know bee has mentioned the use of butter on skin, thoughts on using milk? Also, they were out of the butter i ususally buy at whole foods so I got organic valley butter derived from sweet cream, i did some research and found a posting by a moderater stating the sweet cream was ok on this diet. Is that correct? thanks casey
