Guest guest
Hi All, I am from India and joined this group when my son was diagnosed with RA. Fortunately, I am able to treat it without allopathy and he is stable now without any symptoms and this group has been very helpful though I still feel bad for all the radiation that he was exposed during so many hip xrays and a MRI scan done. I have been struggling to get Yeast Flakes here in India. If anybody knows an Indian store supplying it please let me know. To avoid rather high overseas shipping cost, I would prefer an Indian store. Alternatively, if someone knows an alternative supplement or recipe, please let me know. Thanks for all the support this group is providing to make people healthy and happy. Thanks and well wishes

Sorry, I do not know any suppliers in Indian. I live in Canada and get most of my supplements from iHerb, located on the West Coast of the US, in Calfornia. I suggest you post another message with India in the Subject Line, along with Nutritional Yeast Flakes, so you can get other members' attention, so they can help you. You might check out iHerb anyway. When ordering more at one time it lowers shipping costs, and if you have not used them before you get $5.00 US off your first order if you give them my Rewards Number (write it down from this page): http://www.healingnaturallybybee.com/resource/iherb.php All the best, Bee
Guest guest
I have always heard that Red Star is the brand to buy although I have nothing to back that up.Leanne
Guest guest
I could be wrong but I don't recall ever having seen nutritional yeast made by Red Star; they specialize in dried yeast for baking. It bears mentioning that you don't ever want to buy brewer's yeast unless it's for your dog or cat (they love it). Buy only nutritional yeast for eating. -----Original Message----- From: Leanne Spiller <ljsrtcan@...> I have always heard that Red Star is the brand to buy although I have nothing to back that up. Guest guest
I have never seen Red Star in a package but it's sold in bulk at all the natural food stores I've been in. If you google it, there's lots of info about it.I have taken a few vegetarian cooking classes and the chef's always said to buy Red Star. Guest guest
You're right--I went to the Red Star site and they do make nutritional yeast but I've never seen it here in NYC. KAL (which is flaked) and Sovex pretty much dominate the market here. Sovex is powdered and smoked; they call it "torula" yeast and I've had a can in my cupboard since the I-don't-know when. I don't even remember the last time I used it but I'm loath to toss it. -----Original Message----- From: Leanne Spiller <ljsrtcan@...> I have never seen Red Star in a package but it's sold in bulk at all the natural food stores I've been in. Guest guest
I also got my NYF in bulk at the health food store. I use it on raw cauliflower which I've chopped into popcorn-sized pieces. Tastes like cheese popcorn! If you want, you can roast the cauliflower first until it's crisp-tender. Toss with oil before roasting and sprinkle with NYF. Yummy and healthy! I think you can check this out on YouTube if you search for cauliflower popcorn or Chef y Giglio. Also the raw chefs Gianni (can't remember their first names). Guest guest
I love the idea of roasted "riced" cauliflower with nutritional yeast flakes - I'm going to try that! Guest guest
We've used nutritional yeast on popcorn for years. My kids call it " caramel. " Not sure why, since it's not sweet at all. We spray the popcorn with Bragg's and sprinkle on the yeast. Yummmm. :-)

Guest guest
Sorry, I am a newbie. What is Bragg's please. I just bought my Vitamix last week and still learning to use it. Guest guest
Short for Bragg Liquid Aminos. It's kinda like "soy sauce lite." I think it has been my Sovex Torula Yeast's companion in the cupboard since the '90s. I usually use real soy sauce but Bragg's on popcorn with nutritional yeast sounds good. Bragg has been around for quite a while and is probably best known for their apple cider vinegar, which is excellent. I've seen some high-end cider vinegars but since I don't use much cider vinegar, I just stick with Bragg. -----Original Message----- From: Rosemary <rossan54@...> Sorry, I am a newbie. Guest guest
Well i'm glad that question was asked - i assumed berlinsmith was talking about Braggs AC Vinegar!!I do also have the liquid aminos so i will try that on my next batch of popcorn. Thanks to all for answering my inital question about what brand of yeast to use. After all that, I've decided to go with Frontier, as that is what's recommended by the Weston A Price foundation. Guest guest
Too bad you're not here; you could try Bragg's for free: http://bragg.com/samples/samples_24022.php (I never knew they offered yeast; yet another brand I've never seen here). I'd recommend going with whichever yeast tastes the best. -----Original Message----- From: Jane <jane01@...> Well i'm glad that question was asked - i assumed berlinsmith was talking about Braggs AC Vinegar!!
