I am far from being a vegetarian, but I was thinking about gelatin being made from animals, strangely, this morning. Guest guest
Suzy, My understanding is that it comes from the hooves of livestock. Guest guest
According to " A Consumer's Dictionary of Cosmetic Ingredients " ,: " Gelatin is a protein obtained by boiling skin, tendons, ligaments or bones with water " . There's a product you can get in Asian supermarkets called agar (or sometimes agar agar) which you can use as a substitute for gelatin. Agar is made from seaweed. - Ela (000)___(000) Ela Heyn / @ @ \ ferret@... | | ======@====== http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/5483

Guest guest
NO, that's all the detail I can use. I know that spaghetti doesn't grow on trees, we have a farm and I " m familiar with that sort of thing but it never dawned on me to wonder where it came from. Yuck, I don't want any jello but I wonder what else it's in that I'm eating and not knowing. I'm going back to being more of a label reader. That's gross to me. And no, I don't eat hotdogs since I found out what's in them. Thanks, Suz We Accept: VISA, MC, AMEX http://oregontrailsoaps.com Re: gelatin >From: " Desrosiers Family " <dawnd@...> > >Suzy, > My understanding is that it comes from the hooves of livestock. Guest guest
Cindi, my 3 children are vegetarian. Do you ever buy Knor Vegetarian soup base? Last time we went to buy it the ingre. had changed and now there's gelatin in it! I don't know how they can still call it vegetarian. Re: gelatin From: cindi <cindij@...> 'S why I don't eat it!! Guest guest
Ah, Come on, Suzy...Being a farm girl, don't you eat pickled pigs feet? Bet Butch does. Guest guest
Dear Bee, Is there any health benefit to consuming beef gelatin like the NOW brand you have listed on iherb recommendations page? I saw one success story on your site where a woman attributed to growth of new enamel on her teeth to eating gelatin. And maybe by consuming this it would help to heal the gut, like the gelatin in bone broth does (but of course missing the minerals in bone broth). Any thoughts? Thanks a bunch! http://www.iherb.com/Now-Foods-Beef-Gelatin-Unflavored-Powder-1-lb-454-g/400?at=\

Price reports for people he put on a nutritious program. Note, beef gelatin powders are dried out beef (without moisture), which makes them harder to digest just like any meats that have lost their natural moisture. It isn't the same as gelatin in just formed naturally in bone broths. If you want the benefits just consume more mineral-rich bone broth. December of '09, two of my molars broke in half and last January ('10), a filling fell out of another tooth. Following Bee's pgm, none of these teeth have bothered me. Guest guest
Then that's one more thing to look forward to. I have chips and cracks in my front teeth. I fell on my face when I was 10 years old, and for years afterward I have been able to see horizontal cracks in the front incisors, plus other chips. Right now my front teeth feel a little sensitive. > > > Is there any health benefit to consuming beef gelatin like the NOW > > brand you have listed on iherb recommendations page? Guest guest
Okay, thanks Bee and . I don't consume bone broth that often because it's so time intensive, so I was hoping maybe the powdered gelatin would provide some of the benefits that broth does. But since the gelatin doesn't sound that great, I will just keep to the diet and try to do the bone broth when I can. > > > > I consume homemade bone broth and follow Bee's pgm and my teeth, i do > believe, have repaired the dentin layer (as per Weston A Price).
