She told me that a) in emergency cases they had used it in the virgin woods to replace blood serum IV. if someone is all groggy (plus memory difficulties)after having had surgery, in order to rid themselves of the remainders of anaesthesia meds, to consume coconut water. It will help them clear their body in a short time, whereas without it, it would take about six months or so. I cannot further specify, this is all I learned, maybe not enough, if someone is used to more scientific info, but still, it seems to confirm what you said. Guest guest
Yes, this is true. I loved drinking coco water in Bali. It is fed to laboring mother and new dehydrated new borns. Don't rush to your supermarket and buy one of those small brown things, you need the full-husked large, green coconut--very hard to find in the USA outside of the tropics. I have a friends who buys them in NYC for $4 a piece. Guest guest
I am looking for a good alternative clinic/doctor experienced in treating non-Hodgkins lymphoma/CLL. I would appreciate your feedback. There is a flood of information on the net but which one is true? Can you help? Thanks Alicja Re: coconut water Yes, this is true. Guest guest
Jim I was surprised too and terribly disappointed when I found out about the uric acid and sugar content of buko juice. My sister who has lupus used to take so much of the " kalumbahin " variety, which is really oooohhhh so sweet and good (also the mucousy young meat). I stopped her and made her take water with sea salt in it instead. She now wakes up, just like me, without the arthritis discomfort in our body. I still take the kalumbahin buko juice once in a blue moon. Coconut oil, almost everyday - 3 TBSP. The Philippines now experts buko juice in tetra packs. Also see them around a lot in supermarkets here. Maybe this is the FAO method of preserving the juice naturally. Our commercial buko juice does not have preservatives. Clean and pure buko juice was also used during WWII to clean the wounds of the wounded combatants. During same war, when there was no food available, they would get mature coconuts and scrape the coconut meat like spaghettis or noodles and cook it. This method fed many starving people at that time. As you know I am here in coconut country and get the old folks to tell the tales of the different uses of coconut. coconut water At 07:01 PM 3/15/2004 +0800, pbanagal wrote: >Jim > >Buko Juice is not for diabetics and gout sufferers. Hi , That's new info about uric acid, will look into it - most of my readings about coconut water have been positive though. There is sugar (5grams per 100 ml) but this is way lower than coca-cola and slightly lower that gatorade and it is recommended as a natural " sports drink " after exercise for athletes and runners. Very high in Potassium and electrolytes. The most interesting fact I picked up was that during world war II it was used for emergency plasma tranfusions to wounded soldiers in the pacific. The FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN) is developing a process for preserving it without removing the nutrients . The FAO report on coconut water is at: http://www.fao.org/ag/magazine/9810/spot3.htm ------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is going to be tricky. Coconut Oil has a long shelf life but Coconut water has a short one - needs to be consumed within 5 days. There is a commercially available Coconut water drink here in the Philippines called " Lipa Buko Juice " (from Lipa City I suppose) - it is marketed as a post workout sports drink (chock full of electrolytes) apart from the usual thirst quencher. Even when refrigerated, it only has a 5 day shelf life. - jim

I wonder if it would be as fresh though, doesn't the tetra process involve a lot of heating? (as in UHT preserved milk) - jimbo
Guest guest
Water from young coconut is called " coconut juice " , this is what is drank or bottled as beverage. water from matured coconuts is called " coconut water " and is not used as a beverage anymore. Fermented coconut water is used for making vinegar. if not this becomes a waste material for most people. Ratliff <bratliff@...> wrote:Coconut water comes from green, immature coconuts. Guest guest
What is ripe coconut liquid called? , Hi ! This is Sev Magat from the Philippines. The mature or ripe nuts of the coconut palm tree is usually 11.5 - 12 month old nuts (from complete pollination of female flowers by male pollens). This water of mature nuts are usually called coconut water or liquid endosperm, while the meat, the solid endosperm. So the coconut water is the extension of the solid endosperm (also called coconut kernel). The water of green or tender 7-8 month old nuts (with soft endosperm or meat is called young/tender coconut water or " buko " / " buco " juice or water, usually sweeter than that of the water of mature nuts. Moreover, the concentration of nutrients in tender coconut water is high (as K, Ca, Mg, P, Chloride, sulfur, iron, copper. Sugar is in form of sucrose and fructose. Also rich in vitamin C and B. Hoping this reply helps, Sev Magat Ratliff <bratliff@...> wrote: Coconut water comes from green, immature coconuts. Coconut milk comes from ripe flesh squeezings. Guest guest
The many advantages of buko juice ( green coconuts water) are explained in details in the book of Dr Vermen Verallo, RX:Coconuts! Coconut water has a better profile than for instance Gatorade as a sport drink, and is well known for dissolving kidney stones ( my wife did use it five years ago for this indication, with success). However, some effects (as libido enhancer) are effective only with fresh coconut water, not with preserved water (cans, T-paks). s 2006/8/8, Stuck <Sstuck@...>: > > Have any of you tried this? > know I can get it from buying the coconut but need more than 1 could offer > and can't store all the meat. Guest guest
Marcy, Research suggests that coconut oil can help the liver produce the insulin it needs and improve blood sugar control. Many people have reported using coconut oil to control their blood sugar and being able to reduce or even eliminate insulin injections. When blood sugar goes too high they take a couple of tablespoons of coconut oil and the blood sugar normalizes within 30 minutes. Of course, the response each person experiences will be somewhat different. I suggest 1 tablespoon of coconut oil with each meal to help control blood sugar. This amount can be adjusted up or down depending on the individual and the foods eaten. Keep us informed on your progress. Bruce Coconut water Thank you for your inputs on the coconut water. Actually I am hoping to find a place that has just coconut water in the can...straight out of the coconut!. No added sugar. I hope it will help my liver and well as my diabetes. I should have said instead of cereal..OATS..lol I dont know why but I have always thought of oats as cereal. It is a grain and didnt mean to mislead anyone! LOL I am the one who is abit confusing! Also, to the lady who said she has good results on her diabetes by coconut oil, I am going to up my amount that I am eating...would love to get off this insulin. I have a bit of a double whammy. This liver disease and diabetes working together...is hard to deal with. I cant take the pills for diabetes...'cause they would damage my liver further...and take insulin twice a day..so am hoping to find that the coconut oil, water and coconut will encourage my liver to do what its suppose to and get me off the needles! I am on a constant search! Thanks, Marcy --------------------------------- Stay in the know. Pulse on the new .com. Check it out.
Guest guest
Hi Marcy: These people have Coconut Water http://www.vitacoco.com/ you can check it out and see if there is added sugar but I doubt that anyone would add sugar. I am dealing with Type 2 Diabetes, not nearly as complicated as Insulin Dependant like yourself. I also don't know about Liver Disease and what that entails. I'm sure the Liver is involved in digestion and Coconut (I believe) will take the strain off the Liver during digestion. I do know that Dr. Bruce has several books on Coconut and mentions in detail how it helps Diabetics, how you DON'T NEED any Digestive Enzymes for the Glucose to enter the cells because the Coconut does it for you. Do you know what I mean? I don't know if you could totally eliminate Insulin with your type of Diabetes, you need to read more on this subject. Here is what Dr. Bruce says in his book..The Coconut Oil Miracle under Liver Disease Pg.150 (I hope it is okay to do this) " Researchers have been finding coconut oil to be of great benefit to liver health. The Medium Chain Fatty Acids are immediately funneled from the digestive tract to the liver, where they can aid the organ in many ways. Viruses that cause hepatitis are deactivated by the MCFAs, thus aiding the immune system in fighting off dangerous infections. " There's a lot more information about liver health in that book. Also his book Coconut Cures on page 227, it says..... " Liver problems such as hepatitis and cirrhosis can be helped by regular consumption of Coconut Oil. MCFAs in Coconut Oil protect the tissues of the liver from free-radical damage, which is one of the primary causes of liver injury. MCFAs also help fight infection. Follow the maintenance proram on page 168. Dietary supplements containing an extract from milk thistle called silymarin can help rejuvenate and restore liver function. Take 1000 mg vitamin c daily, avoid processed vegetable oil, hydrogenated oil and alcohol. " This free radical damage is caused from eating foods that are deep-fried in vegetable oils (restaurants) and I believe also baked goods. You need to read labels, looking for HYDROGENATED. I think Coconut Water is high in Carbs but not Coconut Oil. Consumption of the oil goes by body weight and if you weigh over 175 lb. you need 4 tbsp. daily in divided amounts. Guest guest
Wilderness Family Natural sells coconut water with no added sugars. But it is still 18 grams of carb per serving, which is very high for a diabetic. http://www.wildernessfamilynaturals.com/coconut_water.htm?=featured-ad Alobar On 9/29/06, marcy barnes <jimslady55@...> wrote: > Thank you for your inputs on the coconut water.
