Guest guest
Hi , I have no doubt many of us are unbalanced as far as calcium and magnesium are concerned but not everyone is magnesium deficient. I did a RBC and my magnesium was high normal, while my calcium was low - almost in the red. I don't eat a lot of dairy, nor do I eat any fortified products. I'm sure there are others out there like me just as I'm sure there are others out there like you. What I don't know is how to predict who will have what problem, as diet doesn't seem to predict well from me or for you (based on your past posts). Take care, Sharon > The point is if you are eating and drinking dairy products and eating > vegetables you are getting more than the RDA of calcium (unlike magnesium). Guest guest
Although if you are eating pasteurized dairy products, they aren't a good source of calcium.LinnOn Nov 17, 2006, at 5:55 AM, sharflin wrote:Hi ,I have no doubt many of us are unbalanced as far as calcium and magnesium are concerned but not everyone is magnesium deficient. Have you taken magnesium with your iodine? If by RBC analysis my magnesium were very high with no reason (no supplementing) I would find out why. This was my problem: " Some people, including those with diabetes and cardiovascular disease, as well as chronic hypothyroidism, are at even greater risk of a nutrient deficiency because of the nature of these conditions. In fact, up to 90 percent of Americans don't get the recommended daily allowance (RDA) of magnesium from their diet alone. I could only find calcium citrate in the 500 mg pills and magnesium in 400 mgs. Is it okay to take 2 of each every day? +++Hi , 2 calcium = 1,000 mg per day. 2 magnesium = 800 mg per day. You need to get as close to 600 mg total of each per day. So take 1 calcium and 1 magnesium together for 1 dose. For the 2nd dose either cut up tablets or dump out capsules to get close to 100 mg calcium and 200 mg of magnesium for the other dose. Powdered minerals will not mix in water or liquids since they sink to the bottom and you'll be digging them out with a spoon. Instead put powder from capsules in a spoon, add warm water, mix as best you can, down it and follow it by swallows of water. Bee
