Guest guest
It would be really encouraging to hear more from folks who have had great sucess with thr and have gone back to activepain-free lives.. Come on, let's hear from you since Iknow that is the more common outcome.. it would reallybe good for those of us who are about to enter the thr zone. All righty then. I have a left hip, over a year old; a right knee, 14 months old; and a left knee, 10 months old. Not one of them is hurting me. My legs feel strong and sturdy. I can walk across a room without using the furniture for support. My balance is back, I can duck when a thing is coming at me unexpectedly. I can get in and out of a car and a van; and I am smiling. I am age 73 and overweight. And just yesterday, I bought a pair of fussy, frilly shoes to go with my Mother's Day dress. Would you believe that this is the first time in fifteen years that I do not have to wear Granny orthotic shoes? By the way, my surgeon is smiling, too! Love and hugs to you all. Guest guest
What wonderful news! Thanks for sharing it with the group. It gives me hope that things actually CAN get better! We are at a very low point right now with our daughter, so I will hang onto your story to pump up my spirits. Imogene success story Hi to the group - I have good news - my 13 year old is so much better!! I feel like we've gone through the wringer but finally I see so much progress. I can start to breathe again. I wanted those of you to know who are suffering through this that there is light at the end of the tunnel. Our daughter was terrified of germs, had contamination issues galore. She would not let us touch her for months, nor her room or laundry. I had to stay about 4 feet away from her. We are hugging now daily, she is carrying her little sister around, snuggling our cats (we got her a kitten, I think it really helped) I do her laundry again, she will eat from a plate and use a fork I've touched. She opens doors, she will sit without putting down paper towels or napkins. She is even exchanging clothes with kids from school. She's going to school! Wow- her shower is down to about 10-15 minutes from over 3 hours. She is washing her hands a normal amount of time. It's like a switch was turned. She doesn't dwell for hours now about germs from a fly landing on her, or that I brushed against someone at the market that looked dirty. I am so thankful and I know that OCD is something we will probably deal with for her lifetime, but right now, it is good to report some positive news. Hang in there everyone, it does get better! ________________________________________________________________________ AOL now offers free email to everyone. Guest guest
Hi Imogene - yes it will get better! Just be sure to take care of yourself too so you can nurture your family. I feel like I don't do enough of that, everything revolves around her and we all suffer when I am so wiped out. But it does get better - hold on to that. God bless you all! > > What wonderful news! Guest guest
Hi Dina - to answer your questions Yes, we did put her on Lexapro, 10mg a pretty small dose therapeutically but it seems to be doing the trick. We also are seeing a therapist - who actually got out of my daughter that a lot of the OCD was manipulation. She definitely has OCD - but she would use it to get out of chores, etc. Once we started insisting that she do her part she got really bad, but we held the line and she started to do her part and as that happened the anxiety started to dissipate. By creating a boundary where she knew the rules she relaxed. I guess this goes along with the not enabling part of therapy. But frankly I was surprised with the change. I mean we had days where she would worry for hours about a contamination, could not use a fork I touched or worry that someones pee landed on her. She wouldn't help at all around the house, was completely immobilized. But she would make huge messes in the bathroom - flooding it with all the wash water, go through a whole bar of Ivory and there would be soap suds everywhere, and I had to clean all that up. We just put our foot down, took away privileges, and day by day it's getting better. Now she will eat anything I make, use the silverware, she was letting her cat in the other day and fidgeting with all the locks and knobs trying to open the door and didn't even hesitate with touching them. Also - I believe that she is getting settled in our new community and that has lessened the anxiety. We moved from the house she had always known for 13 years and that is what really made the OCD skyrocket. She had it for about 1 1/2 years before but kept it pretty hidden. Once the move was imminent and she told us she had OCD it got out of control. Hope that helps you! Have a great day! > > That's so great! Can I asked what changed? Guest guest
Hi - I wrote a long reply to another member but in a nutshell - we got a good therapist and put her on Lexapro (10mg). Also she is starting to settle in to our new community and that is helping her relax. My husband and I both are trying to keep a firm line in the sand about what is expected of her and although it may sound threatening to someone with OCD it seems to have helped her. We stopped enabling her. It is very hard to do though - as her mom I just did not want her to suffer, so I would do everything for her. Once that stopped and we insisted she do her part it got really bad, then she accepted it and everything else changed. I mean initially, we would not open the car door for her, now she is touching all the doors. We insisted she clean up after herself in the common areas (couch, kitchen) now she is cleaning her room. It's now perfect, she still is lazy about doing it, needs remeinders, but she does touch the stuff and deal with it. She is also a hormonal teen and all the normal resistance to doing what your parents say is surfacing. But she seems happier too - hanging out with us, singing to us, watching her little sister for hours and playing. I am still holding my breath a bit and really praying that we are oer the worst but I know it can be a roller coaster ride. I hope this helps you - have a great day! , " " <@...> wrote: > > How great! I know there's a light at the end of the tunnel, this time > around it just seems a very LONG tunnel, LOL! Guest guest
- sounds great - a very positive outlook - tell me what is Thyroid-S? Is it helpful for thyroid cancer? Regards From: <cindychurch@...>iodine Sent: Sat, 14 August, 2010 22:34:07Subject: success story Hi Everybody,I have not posted for a long time and just want you all to know that after a year and more than a half on the iodine protocol, my nodule on my thyroid has finally reduced in size! I have lost 21 lbs in weight and I have managed to get rid of a large mole on my temple. My adrenals are back to normal too. This has all been due to iodine. In May I went up to 100mg of Iodoral and went through the heaviest detox to date. My lymph nodes eventually swelled and I began to develop boil like spots behind my ears. Not pleasant. I reduced my iodine at that point and it took several weeks before I was able to reduce the swelling. I was lucky to have a friend staying who is a Massage Therapist who gave me lymphatic drainage massages. In June, I started Thyroid-S after 6 years of dropping Levothyroxine and it was the last piece in my jigsaw puzzle back to health. I do not take adrenal support anymore or St 's Wort and have changed my Vit C to Amla. I still take Vit B complex, 25mg Iodoral, 120mg Thyroid-S; this is low as I was taking 125mcg of Levo (60mg of Thyroid-S is 38mcg of Levo). I take 200mg mag citrate and also use mag chloride oil which I rub into my neck. I take 200mcg selenium or 4 brasil nuts. When I am not in the sun I take 2000iu of Vit D3. My levels of D3 and ferritin have risen over the protocol period to reasonable levels.I started using white iodine for some of my moles and have had one peel off on my face, hurray!I now use argan oil butter on my skin which I warm and add Lugol's to. I also add argan oil to my salad dressing as it reduces cholesterol. As I can remember, the last time I posted here, my endo recommended that I have my thyroid removed as I have irregular cells. I last saw him in June where he realised that as my nodule was shrinking, I possibly could be going in the right direction. Thanks and everybody here. This forum is the best.PS Apologies to those who sent be emails and did not get a response. I was having problems at a specific time with my set up. Guest guest
Hi , Thyroid-S is another brand of natural thyroid. It is manufactured in Thailand and is usually offered as an alternative to Armour. This is what Dr Derry says about the combination of iodine and natural thyroid meds to fight cancer. It does come from an article on breast cancer but I do believe he talks generally. " I propose that...iodine and thyroid hormone act as a team to provide a constant surveillance against abnormal cell development, chemicals that are carcinogenic, and the spread of cancer cells within the body, " writes Dr. Derry, who, in addition to holding an M.D., has a PhD in neurochemistry and is a former University of Toronto Medical Research Council Scholar. " Cancer grows so slowly when using iodine and thyroid hormone therapy that the cancer will not affect the lives of the patients who have it. The treatment is non-invasive, inexpensive and safe. Guest guest
, I think Dr s site calls it white iodine but I bought " De La Cruz - Decolorized Iodine - Yodo Blanco " . Ingredients: potassium iodide, iodine, ammonia solution. It is strictly for external use. The ammonia decolorizes the Lugol's solution. > >Hi Everybody, > > > >I have not posted for a long time and just want you all to know that after > >a year and more than a half on the iodine protocol, my nodule on my > >thyroid has finally reduced in size! Guest guest
Oh, I see, ok. I've been using Lugol's at night on skin issues, since by the time I wake up it's disappeared. Another thing to do is, either before application or after, I've done both, add a touch of vit C powder, either ascorbic acid or calcium ascorbate, or a squeeze of lemon, etc. The Vit C converts the iodine to iodide and the color clears. I have removed the color of Lugol's from my skin instantly by using Vit C powder/water paste on them. I thought about this and wondered whether the iodide would still work on the skin. Dr Brownstein's Iodine book says that the skin primarily concentrates the iodide form, so I imagine converting Lugol's in this fashion would still work on skin. I'm going to try it so I can use the iodine on skin all day too. -- At 05:55 PM 8/14/2010, you wrote: >, > >I think Dr s site calls it white iodine but I bought " De La Cruz - >Decolorized Iodine - Yodo Blanco " . Guest guest
Hi Cincy, Thanks for sharing your very encouraging story! Could you please tell me how long you stayed at 100mg Iodoral? What level of Iodoral you think started to help shink the nodule? Thanks agian, Jen > > Hi Everybody, > > I have not posted for a long time and just want you all to know that after a year and more than a half on the iodine protocol, my nodule on my thyroid has finally reduced in size! My levels of D3 and ferritin have risen over the protocol period to reasonable levels. > > I started using white iodine for some of my moles and have had one peel off on my face, hurray! > > I now use argan oil butter on my skin which I warm and add Lugol's to.
