My mom always made me take some and I would choke down a bit and leave the rest. So it isn't only the killing part that bothers me. Guest guest
It's funny that our bodies tell us what we need, long before there is a problem. I think it's been over 5 years now that I developed such an aversion to meat. I stopped eating it altogether until they opened a holistic grocery store nearby. All their meat and dairy is hormone-free, and antibiotics are only used for the animals if it's medically indicated. Wow, it was strange to remember what meat *used* to taste like! I still can't eat much of it, but I feel safer eating it if it comes from the holistic store. I also asked the butcher in the regular grocery store about some packaging information on the chicken they were selling. It touted itself as being hormone-free. He said that's because the antibiotics they stuff them with works as a growth hormone, so poultry doesn't need the things 4-legged animals do. Marilyn Re: Drinking ??!!?? i think i read somewhere it's not just the protein in meat, but special avoidance of meat in general due to the hormones most US meats are injected with to promote yields which is most damaging to the liver. don't know where i saw this in my net travels but if i come across it again i'll attach the link. the buelljockey

Guest guest
Okay, All you guys are being mean telling me all these bad things about meat! Tehee! Sorry, I know Red meat is really hard to digest and is very hard on your liver. And I guess it is a good thing that I cant afford to buy it often. But I do have to admit every great once in a while I have to splurge for one of those big juicy thicks steaks even though I pay the price later. I am originally from Texas ya know! Tehee. But pizza, for some reason no problem! Spegetti! Ummmmmm, no problem with that either. But I did make changes in my diet to include more vigies and fruits. That does seem to help. And I have a secret for my drinking lots of fluids. I dehydrate easy and cannot take gatorade. Think it is the sodium content. But I buy Pedialyte. " Yes, for babies! " I mix a little with each glass of water and I constantly carry a drink with me know matter where I go. Cut way back on soda's too. I have a 7up maybe once a day for a treat. But the acid kills my stomach. I have acid reflux and possibly an ulcer from all this mess too. Okay enough. Just want to share in the wealth of our wonderful diets. Dana theemoculli@... wrote:yep....I read about the hormones in meat too, and steroids and antibiotics.... My ex-is a farmer......If you are in doubt....don't eat it. Guest guest
Dana, Sorry to be the barer of bad news, but things like soda are as big a no-no as red meat and iron. Pizza and spaghetti are equally bad due to the high-fat content... the liver has trouble with fat and when it can't process it correctly, it starts to grow a layer of fat around the shell of the liver. That happened to me, and my doctor said that was not a good thing. Basically, ones Hepatitis C diet should be: high-fiber including metamucil... get your necessary protein from fish, forget all about meats. Fat is bad no matter where it comes from. Guest guest
Then you go to a health food store and get Isopure. Pretty rank, but you can get used to it. Better than chewing your protein, at least! Prolly would go down better with an almond joy, LOL! Guest guest
Dana, I am sick of subs......but it's better than shrinking. I was 180 when I had the biopsy. My appetite was fine till this spring. Now I'm down to 150 something. Everyone asks why I've suddenly lost so much weight. 20 lbs in 2 months. I eat late when I do so it'll stay with me.....at least it used to. Emo
