Guest guest
We used http://www.antennasearch.com to locate antenna's We are located ~ 1.5 miles from the nearest tower. The house is: * being wired for Shielded CAT5 (no wireless internet), * no cordless phones (telephone outlets in each room and one on the patio) * no microwave of course (microwave also kills nutritional value of foods) * no LCD TVs (LCD use fluorscent tubes -- which is known to trigger some autoimmune illnesses, i.e. lupus, and many CFIDers have lupus antibodies -- but NOT lupus). And at least 600' from the nearest neighbor (minimizing their radiation output). I have been in a apartment complex (just 2 stories) and seen a dozen wireless network showing up on available networks... and I expect it will keep increasing... Personally, I feel that a rural (non-agricultural) environment is generally a better environment for CFIDS recovery than an urban environment and often have lower costs of living. Agricultural environment have major issues with sprays etc (unless you are in the middle of an Organic Farming Area). Related to this issues, those in the UK and Canada may have caught the " Silent Killer " episode of " Judge Deed " (not sure if it has played on BBC-America) that dealt with Radio towers. http://www.bbc.co.uk/drama/crime/judge/episodes.shtml (another episode dealt with vaccines) It was based on some real legal cases in the UK and very informative... Guest guest
Yes, Microsoft Corporate Campus -- but it was probably stress that pushed me into CFIDS. I have since worked back in that EMR environment with no ill effects (and only as a contractor -- so if stress builds, I exit, stage Health). > > Ken, > > If I recall correctly, when you got sick you were working in a very high EMR environment. Guest guest
I've never noticed or had any problems with the microwave either. Perhaps you should have your processor looked at. or talk to your doc about the implant itself. One of my electrodes causes my left eyelid to twitch occasionally but it doesn't need a microwave to do that (I don't think). Pam
Guest guest
Hi , Your microwave should have adequate shielding to prevent that. I've never had a problem with my processor acting strange or cutting out near a microwave, and I've had some pretty CHEAP ones. $30 or so. Try this. Take off the processor and run the microwave. If it still feels that way, it's not the processor. Go to your implant center. Are you using rechargeable batteries? Ask your audi if the microwave will affect them. The only things I've noticed effecting my processor are fluorescent lights, dimmer switches, and computer screens, and then ONLY when I'm on the telecoil setting. Do you have a Nucleus processor? Are you on Whisper or Telecoil when this is happening. Because you should be on Microphone most of the time. If it's a Nucleus, is it the Freedom, and are you using BEAM or ADRO on it? Both of those are designed to cut out loud noises in the background, and that might sound like the processor is turning off momentarily. It's supposed to. So, tell us which processor you have, and what setting you are using and maybe we can deduce the problem. Sherlock Holmes and Company here on . Guest guest
Dear Olga, Thanks for this. http://www.snopes.com/science/microwave/plants.asp Snopes definitely states that the plants conclusion cannot be verified by scientific means. Does that mean microwaves are safe? Does that mean using electric cookers is not more harmful as many in macrobiotics say, including Michio Kushi? What about the other conclusions in the paper? Guest guest
Hmmm, is micro waved food "safe" to eat? Interesting question with lots of side issues. One question that I've never seen scientifically addressed is" "Does microwaving change food energy". From my own intuition I believe that it does. Of course, people who are not concerned about food energy, would dismiss such a "crazy notion". Therefore, it's usually wise to observe the person's reference point when listening to his recommendations. If one is a Chicken, one might not want the Fox's advice about constructing a safe hen house. We probably all agree that one is not going to turn green & drop dead from eating micro waved food. However, I don't believe that there is enough long-term research to definitely say "yeah" or "nay" about the effects. Some other questions that might arise: Perhaps the harmful effects don't show up until the 2nd generation, perhaps the effects are more emotional/attitude rather than physical, or perhaps the food doesn't provide as much "strength", or perhaps we'll eventually discover that there are no harmful effects. Guess another question might be: Since it may be years before mainstream science discovers/admits the effects of microwaved foods, why not just avoid using them? I grew up without a microwave oven, and in 1995, gave away the only one that I've ever owned. Not having a microwave has never been a hardship. Although I don't own a microwave, and I don't use my mother's when I'm visiting her, I don't get upset if I discover that a restaurant has heated food in one. Wishing everyone a great weekend. Guest guest
Hi, The group may find this interesting regarding microwave tissue damage. I am quoting from, "Sclerology, An Ancient Art" by Leonard Mehlmauer, ND. This comes from my study of the sclera, and in this book is a description of the tissue damage done by various forms of irradiation including microwaves and microwaving all the way to x-radiation and cobalt radiation. The whites of the eye carry markers for this tissue or organ damage. The quote is from pate 135. "Signs of irradiation may be showing anything from mild (but somehow significant to the body) solar and cosmic ray exposure, to household microwave exposure (eating nuked food) or standing near the appliance), to commercial nuclear-waste food irradiation exposure (through eating irradiated food), to extreme tissue damaging medical cobalt exposure. The intensity of the lines and background signs associated signs, tell the tale. One also looks for signs of infection (which means parasites) Look for tissue destruction. Ask about symptoms where irradiation markers in the eye are found. In the picture tissue damage is illustrated due to excessive intake of irradiated food, whether the irradiation was from the nuclear waste exposure process or from microwave ovens. The subject uses microwaves a lot. Her marker lies in the spleen area." When in doubt, take the easy way out, don't use microwave ovens. Thanks Dottie for your comments. Guest guest
Just wanted to say that my oldest just did a science experiment on microwaved water and fertilizer (fish immulsion) and their effect on vegetable plants (swiss chard). It was interesting, though I expected the results he obtained. I was bummed they weren't more dramatic, but there were factors we didn't account for a head of time. Since we purchased the swiss chard at a nursery, we determined that the plant was pumped so full of fertilizer in the soil, that the microwaved water & fertilizer was still enabling those high powered soil additives to dispurse and nourish the plant. Both plants were accidently left out in a rain, also. The differences over the course of a month... Their was a 2 " growth difference between the two (microwaved having less growth) The microwave plant would wilt much earlier and not recover the spring water plant was much fuller with more new growth I have photos if anyone is interested. We were going to continue the experiment but got busy and let it slide. I would love to have recorded the long term effects and taste. We haven't used a microwave in over a decade. Sometimes my son gripes about it because he would like to just reheat something in a few seconds instead of planning ahead to use the oven or stove. Seeing the results of the denatured water first hand, even when fertilizers were present, was eye-opening for him. xoxo...

However, if your son would include the third plant in his experiment, which would be watered with stove top boiled water, he would discover that it would develop at about the same rate as the plant watered with microwaved water. Neither micro nor stove top boiled water kills plants, but plants do seem to prefer raw water. I've played with this quite a bit as a school aged kid. The posted hoax is also at least 25 years old and during the time I was a child it had been widely known, and I, as well as many of my peers, played experimenting with it.
