Guest guest
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> This list looks like there is a lot of knowledgeable people so I hope that you may have some advice. My 17 year old daughter has been ill for 2 months. Severe abdominal pain, No D or C. Every time she eats she has had great pain in the right side and tummy. She has undergone every test imaginable including, Throat and bowel scopes, ultra sounds, x rays, blood tests, etc. Last week she lost her appetite for any food and was admitted to the Hospital. One Doctor has since told me that they have found some Gall bladder sludge on a earlier ultra sound, about 7 weeks ago. She is a small girl and has lost a considerable amount of weight. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Worried Dad >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Dad; I would first suggest she stay away from all diet type foods, from sugars, as well as milk and wheat products for a couple of days and see what happens. It may behoove you to consider putting her on the Atkins diet for about a week and if she goes though a period of extreme discomfort in joints and her body in general after about three days I would say it's a candida problem, but a maintained diet such as the Atkins diet should help her to get rid of it in around two weeks. After the day of the most discomfort it starts to get better with each passing day. Don't allow any diet sodas either. Aspartame is not a good thing to ingest. You can find plenty of information regarding in this list's archives. Has your daughter had any dental work done within the last few months? As for the sludge that can be pretty well cleared by her getting plenty of essential fatty acids to help the liver to produce a much better bile. If her stools are somewhat tan and not dark that should be changing in short order with the temporary use of the Atkins diet and ingestion of more essential fatty acid. I would add to the mix lecithin and taurine to help with the production of a thinner and better bile, which will be much like the thinning of a thickened paint. I'm not a strong proponent of the Atkins diet, it just so happens to be a very low carbohydrate diet that is very good for fighting off cases of yeast overage, which may be one of the reasons for why it works to a point in size reduction. There is one very important thing to do too with this diet and that is to drink lots of water each day. The liver, gallbladder, pancreas and intestines all work as a synergetic unit and if one is having trouble then chances are pretty good the others will too. However, there are certain steps one can take to alleviate, or reduce the effects, of the problems. Foods that are full of essential fatty acids and complex in carbohydrates will go a long way towards helping her get back to the health a young lady should be having. Avocados are just one of such foods and is both high in fiber as well as the essential fatty acids. There is certainly much more about which we can discuss as ways to deal with her problem. It may behoove you to find her a colonist. The process of clearing the bowels is more than just that, it helps to stimulate the liver to get rid of bile and old blood that is just sitting there. When the bowels are clear the liver can clear itself too. Dale
Guest guest
Thank you for the info, Actually I have received more information from both of you people than I have from any doctor in the past 2 months. Since my daughter has no appetite and has not been eating any foods for about a week, the doctors are now making her drink 4 bottles of boost every day. She has lost some weight and is still not hungry. She experiences abdominal pain no matter what she eats. The doctors tell me that all her tests which they have repeated are fine. They are now going to introduce her to the chronic pain group consisting of Psychiatrists. Where can I find more info on the net or books to help enlighten me about some of the ideas that are being suggested to me, such as juicing, diet? 2 months of this pain is frustrating. Guest guest
Hi all, Dale, I haven't studied this extensively but I was told that although Atkins diet is pretty much right the one thing he got wrong was suggesting bad fats to eat instead of good fats. Apparently this has been corrected in another eating plan - The South Beach Diet. Perhaps someone else can correct/add to this info? Anyway my Naturopath has me on Southbeach instead of Atkins and I am very happy with the results. For anyone who doesn't need to lose weight (such as Worried Dad's daughter) I would skip phase 1 and go straight to phase two. (I have no experience of phase 1 at all as I am 31w pregnant so was only allowed to do phase 2. I would suspect it would be the same for a small person who did not need to lose weight). Also 100grams of a mix of raw macadamias, cashews and almonds every day is an excellent protein boost and helps to normalise body weight. Worried Dad, Congrats on being such a great Dad! I second the probiotics (Acidophilus and Bifidus) My brand of choice is 'Nature's way' www.naturesway.com but someone else might suggest a better one. You also need to start helping DD's liver to squeeze out the sludge. She needs EFA's and a bile thinner/stimulant. Do you have a Naturopath nearby you could consult? Another eating plan you could investigate is 'The Liver Cleansing Diet' by Dr. Cabot. She has a website but I can't remember what it is, Sorry. Blessings Mama. Of course an intake of a complex carbohydrate is also going to provide a bit of essential fatty acids, soluble fiber and insoluble fiber along with other vitamins and minerals of which the liver needs desparately to help in healing various ills of the organs. Thank you for this note. Dale
