when and how do we take clove oil and/or oregano oil?

I have seen these on the iherb recommended products.

I already have oregano oil, and don't have the clove oil but have actual cloves.

Especially with this sudden very sore throat I've heard clove tea can help, like

5 cloves broken up with hot water?
