Guest guest
How many sessions of HBOT did they approve for each of your children? Diane > > Dear all, > > Last Tuesday, we learned that North Carolina decided not to appeal our favorable Superior Court decision issued in late January. Medicaid will be covering the prescribed HBOT for all three of our autistic children. They will be facilitating the enrllment of a provider, so that we can begin treatments as soon as possible. > > This is a huge obstacle that has been overcome for our family after three years of advocating for the needs of our children. I don't believe we would've been successful at presenting the truth about HBOT ameliorating the symptoms of autism for our children without the expert testimony of Dr. Harch on the subject in colaboration with our pediatric neurologist and prescribing physician Dr. Corbier. > > I hope that this will encourage those of you who have Medicaid to submit those EPSDT requests in your own states to receive the help that your children need. Guest guest
That is awesome Meleah! Yes, you have encouraged me to start that process. has been once and will be returning in June. I've decided that if I have to file for EPSDT for continued physical, occupational, and speech therapy I might as well add that onto the list and knock them all out at once. Do you have any advice or tips on starting the whole process. I haven't even filed and requested coverage of HBOT. We have documented evidence of the improvement brought about by the first round. I have set up " SC Medicaid Crisis - Help Our Children " on Facebook to document procedures for getting additional therapy approved and would love to add the information about the appeals process to the page. Would you mind talking with me in detail about the process or going onto the page and adding some advice? At this point, we are all learning as we go. We are facing huge cuts to all therapy and they are limiting OT, PT, and Speech to 75 visits per year for all therapies combined. Parents are in the process of gathering letters of medical necessity and one parent has heard back with an approval of 1/3 of requested services. Guest guest
Anita, What I have learned about submitting an EPSDT request in North Carolina is that the requesting physician/clinician should provide them with as much info as possible with the application. The physician who completes and igns the HBOT request should also send a detailed letter of medical necessity including diagnosis of patient, number of sessions and atmospheric pressure being prescribed, reason why/how this will help ameliorate symptoms for the child, ect. Also, any documentation of need or improvement would be helpful to be sent such as spect scans or progress notes from various therapists that document noteable improvements in condition during time of HBOT. Of course, you can also send in supporting studies and court decisions if you want, but they really should approve it just based on the child's physician giving supporting documentation that it will help the patient. I'll be glad to talk to you about info you want to put on your web page. Feel free to email me, and we can set up a time to talk. Guest guest
Will you have to go back to court for the next round of 40 sessions? How much were your attorney's fees?
